Isaías 20

1 No ano em que veio Tartan a Asdod, enviando-o Sargon, rei da Assyria, e guerreou contra Asdod, e a tomou;

In the year in which Tartan, being sent by Sargon, the king of Assyria, came to Ashdod, and fought against Ashdod, and took it,

2 No mesmo tempo falou o Senhor pelo ministério de Isaias, filho d'Amós, dizendo: vai, solta o saco de teus lombos, e descalça os teus sapatos dos teus pés. E assim o fez, indo nu e descalço.

at that time spake Jehovah through Isaiah the son of Amoz in this manner: Go, and loose the sackcloth from thy loins, and put off thy shoes from thy feet. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

3 Então disse o Senhor: Assim como anda o meu servo Isaias, nu e descalço, por sinal e prodígio de três anos sobre o Egito e sobre a Ethiopia,

And Jehovah said: As my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years, a sign and a token for Egypt and Ethiopia,

4 Assim o rei da Assyria levará em cativeiro os presos do Egito, e os cativados da Ethiopia, assim moços como velhos, nus e descalços, e descobertas as nádegas para vergonha dos egípcios.

so shall the king of Assyria lead the captives of Egypt, and prisoners of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, with their hind parts uncovered, to the shame of the Egyptians.

5 E assombrar-se-ão, e envergonhar-se-ão, por causa dos ethiopes, para quem atentavam, como também dos egípcios, sua glória.

Then shall they be afraid and ashamed on account of Ethiopia their trust, and of Egypt their glory.

6 Então dirão os moradores desta ilha naquele dia: olhai que tal foi aquele, para quem atentavamos, a quem nos acolhemos por socorro, para nos livrarmos da face do rei da Assyria! como pois escaparemos nós?

The inhabitant of this coast shall say in that day, “Behold, so is it with them in whom we trusted, and to whom we fled for help, that we might be delivered from the king of Assyria. How then shall we escape?”
