Isaías 2
1 Visão que viu Isaias, filho de Amós, no tocante a Judá e a Jerusalém:
That which Isaiah, son of Amoz saw in vision, —concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 E acontecerá no último dos dias que se firmará o monte da casa do Senhor no cume dos montes, e se exalçará por cima dos outeiros: e concorrerão a ele todas as nações.
But it shall come to pass, in the afterpart of the days, That the mountain of the house of Yahweh Shall be, set up, as the head of the mountains, And be exalted above the hills, —And all the nations, shall stream thereunto;
3 E irão muitos povos, e dirão: Vinde, subamos ao monte do Senhor, à casa do Deus de Jacob, para que nos ensine acerca dos seus caminhos, e andemos nas suas veredas; porque de Sião sairá a lei, e de Jerusalém a palavra do Senhor.
And many peoples shall go and say—Come ye, and let us ascend Unto the mountain of Yahweh Unto the house of the God of Jacob, That he may teach us of his ways, And we may walk in his paths, —For, out of Zion, shall go forth a law, And the word of Yahweh out of Jerusalem;
4 E julgará entre as gentes, e repreenderá a muitos povos; e converterão as suas espadas em enxadões e as suas lanças em foices: não alçará espada nação contra nação, nem aprenderão mais a guerrear.
And he will judge between the nations, And be umpire to many peoples, —And they will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning-hooks, Nation—against nation, shall not lift up sword, Neither shall they learn any more to make war,
5 Vinde, ó casa de Jacob: e andemos na luz do Senhor.
O house of Jacob! come ye and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.
6 Porém tu desamparaste ao teu povo, a casa de Jacob; porque se encheram de impiedade mais do que os do oriente e são agoureiros como os philisteus; e mostram o seu contentamento nos filhos dos estranhos.
Therefore hast thou abandoned thy people the house of Jacob, Because they have become full of the East, And use hidden arts like the Philistines, —And with the children of foreigners, strike hands; —
7 E a sua terra está cheia de prata e ouro, e não há fim de seus tesouros: também está cheia a sua terra de cavalos, e dos seus carros não há fim
So that filled is their land with silver and gold, And there is no end to their treasures, —And filled is their land with horses, And there is no end to their chariots;
8 Também está cheia a sua terra de ídolos: inclinaram-se perante a obra das suas mãos, perante o que fabricaram os seus dedos.
And filled is their land with idols, —To the work of their own hands, do they bow themselves down, To that which they made with their own fingers.
9 Ali o povo se abate, e os nobres se humilham: portanto lhes não perdoaras.
So the mean man boweth down And the great man stoopeth low, —Therefore do not thou forgive them!
10 Vai, entra nas rochas, e esconde-te no pó, da presença espantosa do Senhor e da glória da sua magestade.
Enter into the rock, Or hide thee in the dust, —Because of the terribleness of Yahweh, And for his majestic splendour.
11 Os olhos altivos dos homens serão abatidos, e a altivez dos varões será humilhada: e só o Senhor será exaltado naquele dia.
The lofty looks of mean men, shall be humbled, And, the haughtiness of great men, shall be bowed down, —And Yahweh alone shall be exalted in that day.
12 Porque o dia do Senhor dos exércitos será contra todo o soberbo e altivo, e contra todo o exalçado, para que seja abatido;
For, a day of Yahweh of hosts, [shall be] —Upon every one who is high and lofty, —And upon every one who is lifted up, And he shall be brought low;
13 E contra todos os cedros do líbano, altos e sublimes, e contra todos os carvalhos de Basan;
And upon all cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, —And upon all the oaks of Bashan;
14 E contra todos os montes altos, e contra todos os outeiros levantados;
And upon all the lofty mountains, —And upon all the uplifted hills;
15 E contra toda a torre alta, e contra todo o muro firme;
And upon every high tower, —And upon every fortress wall;
16 E contra todos os navios de Tarsis, e contra todas as pinturas desejáveis.
And upon all the ships of Tarshish, —And upon all desirable banners.
17 E a altivez do homem será humilhada, e a altivez dos varões se abaterá, e só o Senhor será exaltado naquele dia.
And the haughtiness of mean men, shall be humbled, —And the loftiness of great men, shall be laid low, —And Yahweh alone shall be exalted in that day.
18 E todos os ídolos totalmente perecerão.
And, the idols, shall wholly pass away;
19 Então meter-se-ão pelas cavernas das rochas, e pelas concavidades da terra, por causa da presença espantosa do Senhor, e por causa da glória da sua magestade, quando ele se levantar para espantar a terra.
And they shall enter into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of clay, —Because of the terribleness of Yahweh, And for his majestic splendour, When he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
20 Naquele dia o homem lançará às toupeiras e aos morcegos os seus ídolos de prata, e os seus ídolos de ouro, que se fizeram para se prostrarem diante deles.
In that day shall the son of earth cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, —which had been made for him to worship, into the hole of the mice, and to the bats;
21 E meter-se-ão pelas fendas das rochas, e pelas cavernas das penhas, por causa da presença espantosa do Senhor, e por causa da glória da sua magestade, quando ele se levantar para espantar a terra.
That he may enter into the clefts of the rocks, and into the fissures of the crags, —Because of the terribleness of Yahweh, And for his majestic splendour, When he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
22 Pelo que deixai-vos do homem cujo fôlego está no seu nariz; porque em que se deve ele estimar?
Cease ye from the son of earth, In whose nostrils is but a breath, —For wherein to be reckoned upon, is he?
