Isaías 10

1 Ai dos que ordenam ordenanças injustas, e dos que prescrevem trabalho aos escrivães.

“Woe [to] those decreeing decrees of iniquity, And writers who have prescribed perverseness,

2 Para desviarem aos pobres do seu direito, e para arrebatarem o direito dos aflitos do meu povo, para despojarem as viúvas e para roubarem os órfãos!

Of My people, That widows may be their prey, That they may spoil the fatherless.

3 Mas que fareis vós-outros no dia da visitação, e da assolação, que há de vir de longe? a quem vos refugiareis para obter socorro, e onde deixareis a vossa glória?

And what do you do at a day of inspection? And at desolation that comes from afar? Near whom do you flee for help? And where do you leave your glory?

4 Sem que cada um se abata entre as prezas, e caia entre os mortos? Com tudo isto a sua ira se não apartou, mas ainda está estendida a sua mão.

It has bowed down without Me In the place of a bound one, And they fall in the place of the slain.” With all this His anger has not turned back, And His hand is still stretched out.

5 Ai da Assyria! a vara da minha ira: porque a minha indignação é o bordão nas suas mãos.

“Woe [to] Asshur, a rod of My anger, And My indignation [is] a staff in their hand.

6 Envia-lo-ei contra uma nação hipócrita, e contra o povo do meu furor lhe darei ordem, para que lhe roube o roubo, e lhe despoje o despojo, e o ponha para ser pisado aos pés, como a lama das ruas:

I send him against a profane nation, And concerning a people of My wrath I charge him, To spoil spoil, and to seize prey, And to make it a treading-place as the clay of out places.

7 Ainda que ele não cuide assim, nem o seu coração assim o imagine: antes no seu coração intentará destruir e desarraigar nações não poucas.

And he does not think [it] so, And his heart does not reckon [it] so, For—to destroy [is] in his heart, And to cut off nations—not a few.

8 Porque diz: Porventura todos os meus príncipes não são eles reis?

For he says, Are my princes not altogether kings?

9 Não é Calno como Carchemis? não é Hamath como Arphad? e Samaria como Damasco?

Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus?

10 Como a minha mão achou os reinos dos ídolos, ainda que as suas imagens de vulto fossem melhores do que as de Jerusalém e de que as de Samaria.

As my hand has gotten to the kingdoms of a worthless thing, and their carved images, [Greater] than Jerusalem and than Samaria,

11 Porventura como fiz a Samaria e aos seus ídolos, não faria eu também assim a Jerusalém e aos seus ídolos?

Do I not—as I have done to Samaria, And to her worthless things, So do to Jerusalem and to her grievous things?”

12 Porque acontecerá que, havendo o Senhor acabado toda a sua obra no monte de Sião e em Jerusalém, então visitarei o fruto da arrogante grandeza do coração do rei da Assyria e a pompa da altivez dos seus olhos.

And it has come to pass, When the Lord fulfills all His work In Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, I see concerning the fruit of the greatness Of the heart of the king of Asshur, And concerning the glory of the height of his eyes.

13 Porquanto disse: Com a força da minha mão o fiz, e com a minha sabedoria, porque sou entendido: e terei os limites dos povos, e roubei a sua provisão, e como valente abati aos moradores.

For he has said, “I have worked by the power of my hand, And by my wisdom, for I have been intelligent, And I remove borders of the peoples, And I have spoiled their chief ones, And I put down the inhabitants as a mighty one,

14 E achou a minha mão as riquezas dos povos como a um ninho, e como se ajuntam os ovos deixados, assim eu ajuntei a toda a terra, e não houve quem movesse a aza, ou abrisse a boca, ou chilrasse.

And my hand gets to the wealth of the peoples as to a nest, And as a gathering of forsaken eggs I have gathered all the earth, And there has not been one moving wing, Or opening mouth, or whispering.”

15 Porventura glóriar-se-á o machado contra o que corta com ele? ou presumirá a serra contra o que puxa por ela? como se o bordão movesse aos que o levantam, ou a vara se levantasse como não sendo pau?

Does the axe glorify itself Against him who is hewing with it? Does the saw magnify itself Against him who is shaking it? As a rod waving those lifting it up! As a staff lifting up that which is not wood!

16 Pelo que o Senhor, o Senhor dos exércitos, enviará magreza entre os seus gordos, e debaixo da sua glória acenderá incêndio, como incêndio de fogo.

Therefore the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, Sends leanness among his fat ones, And under his glory He kindles a burning As the burning of a fire.

17 Porque a Luz de Israel virá a ser por fogo e o seu Santo por labareda, que abraze e consuma os seus espinheiros e as suas sarças num dia.

And the light of Israel has been for a fire, And his Holy One for a flame, And it has burned, and devoured his thorn And his brier in one day.

18 Também consumirá a glória da sua brenha, e do seu campo fértil, desde a alma até à carne, e será como quando o porta-bandeira se desmaia.

And the glory of his forest, and his fruitful field, He consumes from soul even to flesh, And it has been as the fainting of a standard-bearer.

19 E o resto das árvores da sua brenha será tão pouco em número, que um menino as possa escrever.

And the rest of the trees of his forest [are] few, And a youth writes them.

20 E acontecerá naquele dia que os resíduos de Israel, e os escapados da casa de Jacob, nunca mais se estribarão sobre o que os feriu: antes se estribarão verdadeiramente sobre o Senhor, o Santo de Israel.

And it has come to pass in that day, The remnant of Israel, And the escaped of the house of Jacob, Do not add anymore to lean on its striker, And have leaned on YHWH, The Holy One of Israel, in truth.

21 Os resíduos se converterão, os resíduos, digo, de Jacob, ao Deus forte.

A remnant returns—a remnant of Jacob, To the Mighty God.

22 Porque ainda que o teu povo, ó Israel, seja como a areia do mar, todavia só um resto dele se converterá: já a destruição está determinada, trasbordando em justiça.

For though your people Israel be as the sand of the sea, A remnant of it returns, A consumption determined, Overflowing [with] righteousness.

23 Porque determinada já a destruição, o Senhor Jehovah dos exércitos a executará no meio de toda esta terra.

For a consumption that is determined, The Lord, YHWH of Hosts, Is making in the midst of all the land.

24 Pelo que assim diz o Senhor Jehovah dos exércitos: Não temas, povo meu, que habitas em Sião, à Assyria, quando te ferir com a vara, e contra ti levantar o seu bordão ao modo dos egípcios,

Therefore, thus said the Lord, YHWH of Hosts: “Do not be afraid, My people, inhabiting Zion, because of Asshur, He strikes you with a rod, And his staff lifts up against you, in the way of Egypt.

25 Porque daqui a bem pouco se cumprirão a minha indignação e a minha ira, para os consumir.

For yet a very little [while], And the indignation has been completed, And My anger by their wearing out.”

26 Porque o Senhor dos exércitos levantará um açoite contra ele, qual a matança de Midian junto à rocha de Oreb, e qual a sua vara sobre o mar, que levantará ao modo dos egípcios.

And YHWH of Hosts is awaking for him, A scourge like the striking of Midian at the rock Oreb, And his rod [is] over the sea, And he has lifted it in the way of Egypt.

27 E acontecerá, no mesmo dia, que tirará a sua carga do teu ombro, e o seu jugo do teu pescoço: e o jugo será despedaçado por amor do ungido.

And it has come to pass in that day, His burden is turned from off your shoulder, And his yoke from off your neck, And the yoke has been destroyed, because of prosperity.

28 Já vem chegando a Aiath, já vai passando por Migron, e em Michmas lança a sua bagagem.

He has come in against Aiath, He has passed over into Migron, At Michmash he looks after his vessels.

29 Já vão passando o vau, já se alojam em Geba: já Rama treme, e Gibeah de Saul vai fugindo.

They have gone over the passage, They have made Geba a lodging place, Rama has trembled, Gibeah of Saul fled.

30 Grita altamente com a tua voz, ó filha de Gallim! ouve ó Lais! ó tu pobre Anathoth.

Cry aloud [with] your voice, daughter of Gallim, Give attention, Laish! Answer her, Anathoth.

31 Já Madmena se foi, os moradores de Gebim vão fugindo em bandos.

Madmenah has fled away, The inhabitants of the high places have hardened themselves.

32 Ainda um dia parará em Nob: moverá a sua mão contra o monte da filha de Sião, o outeiro de Jerusalém.

Yet today to remain in Nob, The mountain of the daughter of Zion waves its hand, The hill of Jerusalem.

33 Porém eis que o Senhor Jehovah dos exércitos decotará os ramos com violência, e os de alta estatura serão cortados, e os altivos serão abatidos.

Behold, the Lord, YHWH of Hosts, Is lopping a branch with violence, And the high of stature are cut down, And the lofty have become low,

34 E cortará com o ferro a espessura da brenha, e o líbano cairá à mão de um poderoso.

And He has gone around the thickets of the forest with iron, And Lebanon falls by a mighty one!
