Oséias 12
1 Ephraim se apascenta de vento, e segue o vento leste: todo o dia multiplica a mentira e a destruição; e fazem aliança com a Assyria, e o azeite se leva ao Egito.
Ephraim feeds on the wind and follows after the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and violence. They make a covenant with Assyria and carry olive oil to Egypt.
2 O Senhor também com Judá tem contenda, e fará visitação sobre Jacob segundo os seus caminhos; segundo as suas obras lhe recompensará.
Yahweh also has a lawsuit against Judah and will punish Jacob for what he has done; he will repay him for his deeds.
3 No ventre pegou do calcanhar de seu irmão, e pela sua força como príncipe se houve com Deus.
In the womb Jacob grasped his brother by the heel, and in his manhood he struggled with God.
4 Como príncipe se houve com o anjo, e prevaleceu; chorou, e lhe suplicou: em bethel o achou, e ali falou conosco,
He struggled with the angel and won. He wept and begged for his favor. He met God at Bethel; there God spoke with him.
5 A saber, o Senhor, o Deus dos exércitos: o Senhor é o seu memorial.
This is Yahweh, the God of hosts; “Yahweh” is his name to be called on.
6 Tu, pois, converte-te a teu Deus: guarda a beneficência e o juízo, e em teu Deus espera sempre.
So turn to your God. Keep covenantal faithfulness and justice, and wait continually for your God.
7 Na mão do mercador está uma balança enganosa; ama a opressão.
The merchants have false scales in their hands; they love to defraud.
8 Ainda diz Ephraim: contudo eu estou enriquecido, e tenho adquirido para mim grandes bens: em todo o meu trabalho não acharão em mim iniquidade alguma que seja pecado.
Ephraim said, “I have certainly become very rich; I have found wealth for myself. In all my work they will not find any iniquity in me, anything that would be sin.”
9 Mas eu sou o Senhor teu Deus desde a terra do Egito: eu ainda te farei habitar em tendas, como nos dias do ajuntamento.
“I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt. I will again make you live in tents, as in the days of the appointed festival.
10 E falarei aos profetas, e multiplicarei a visão; e pelo ministério dos profetas proporei similes.
I spoke to the prophets, and I gave them many visions for you. By the hand of the prophets I gave parables.”
11 Porventura não é Gilead iniquidade? pura vaidade são: em Gilgal sacrificam bois: os seus altares como montões de pedras são nos regos dos campos.
If there is wickedness in Gilead, surely the people are worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls; their altars will be like heaps of stone in the furrows of the fields.
12 Jacob fugiu para o campo da Síria, e Israel serviu por sua mulher, e por sua mulher guardou o gado.
Jacob fled to the land of Aram; Israel worked in order to get a wife; and he kept flocks of sheep to get a wife.
13 Mas o Senhor por um profeta fez subir a Israel do Egito, e por um profeta foi ele guardado.
Yahweh brought Israel out of Egypt by a prophet, and by a prophet he took care of them.
14 Ephraim porém mui amargosamente o irou: portanto deixará ficar sobre ele o seu sangue, e o seu Senhor lhe recompensará o seu opróbrio.
Ephraim has bitterly angered Yahweh. So his Lord will leave his blood on him and will turn back on him his disgrace.
