Hebreus 4

1 Temamos pois que, porventura, deixada a promessa de entrar no seu repouso, pareça que algum de vós fique atráz.

Let us therefore fear least a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of us should seem to fall short of it:

2 Porque também a nós nos foi evangelizado, como a eles, mas a palavra da pregação de nada lhes aproveitou, porquanto não estava misturada com a fé naqueles que a ouviram.

for we are graciously offered it, as they also were. But the word, which they heard, did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

3 Porque nós, os que temos crido, entramos no repouso, como disse: Portanto jurei na minha ira que não entrarão no meu repouso: posto que já as suas obras estivessem acabadas desde a fundação do mundo

For we who believe shall enter into rest, as He said above, "So I sware in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest:" though the works of creation were finished from the foundation of the world:

4 Porque em certo lugar disse assim do dia sétimo: E repousou Deus de todas as suas obras no sétimo dia.

for it is thus said concerning the seventh day, "And God rested the seventh day from all his works."

5 E outra vez neste lugar: Não entrarão no meu repouso.

And yet in this place, "They shall not enter into my rest."

6 Visto pois, que resta que alguns entrem nele, e que aqueles a quem primeiro foi evangelizado, não entraram por causa da desobediência,

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some are to enter into it, and they to whom it was at first offered did not enter because of their unbelief,

7 Determina outra vez um certo dia, que chama Hoje, dizendo por David, muito tempo depois, como está dito: Hoje, se ouvirdes a sua voz, não endureçais os vossos corações.

He appoints a certain day, called To-day, saying by David so long after, (as it is recorded) "To-day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts."

8 Porque, se Josué lhes houvesse dado repouso, depois disso não falaria de outro dia.

For if Joshua had given them the rest, He would not afterwards have spoken of another day.

9 Portanto resta ainda um repouso para o povo de Deus.

There remaineth therefore a rest for the people of God:

10 Porque, aquele que entrou no seu repouso, também ele mesmo repousou de suas obras, como Deus das suas.

for he that is entered into his rest, hath also himself ceased from his works, as God did from his.

11 Procuremos pois entrar naquele repouso, para que ninguém caia no mesmo exemplo de desobediência.

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, least any one fall after the same example of unbelief.

12 Porque a palavra de Deus é viva e eficaz, e mais penetrante do que espada alguma de dois gumes, e penetra até à divisão da alma e do espírito, e das junturas e medulas, e é apta para discernir os pensamentos e intenções do coração.

For the word of God is lively and efficacious, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of the very joints and marrow, and judging the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

13 E não há criatura alguma encoberta diante dele; antes todas as coisas estão nuas e patentes aos olhos daquele com quem tratamos.

And there is no creature concealed from his sight: but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him, to whom we are to give an account.

14 Visto que temos um grande sumo sacerdote Jesus, Filho de Deus, que penetrou nos céus, retenhamos firmemente a nossa confissão.

Having therefore a great high-priest, that is passed into the heavens, even Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession:

15 Porque não temos um sumo sacerdote que não possa compadecer-se das nossas fraquezas; mas um que como nós, em tudo foi tentado, exceto no pecado.

for we have not an high-priest who cannot sympathize with our infirmities, but was in all respects tempted in like manner with us, yet without sin.

16 Cheguemos pois com confiança ao trono da graça, para que possamos alcançar misericórdia e achar graça, para sermos ajudados em tempo oportuno.

Let us therefore come with freedom to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace for our seasonable help.
