Hebreus 12
1 Portanto nós também, pois que estamos rodeados de uma tão grande nuvem de testemunhas, deixemos toda a carga, e o pecado que tão comodamente nos rodeia, e corramos com paciência a carreira que nos está proposta:
Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us,
2 Olhando para Jesus, autor e consumador da fé, o qual pelo gozo que lhe estava proposto suportou a cruz, desprezando a afronta, e assentou-se à dextra do trono de Deus.
looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Considerai pois aquele que contra si mesmo suportou tal contradição dos pecadores, para que não enfraqueçais, desfalecendo em vossos ânimos.
For consider him who has endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you don’t grow weary, fainting in your souls.
4 Ainda não resististes até ao sangue, combatendo contra o pecado.
You have not yet resisted to blood, striving against sin.
5 E já vos esquecestes da exortação que, como a filhos, discorre convosco: Filho meu, não desprezes a correção do Senhor, e não desmaies quando por ele fores repreendido;
You have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children, “My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him;
6 Porque o Senhor corrige ao que ama, e açoita a qualquer que recebe por filho.
for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
7 Se suportais a correção, Deus vos trata como a filhos; porque, que filho há a quem o pai não corrija?
It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline?
8 Mas, se estais sem disciplina, da qual todos são feitos participantes, logo sois bastardos, e não filhos.
But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not children.
9 Também, na verdade, tivemos nossos pais, segundo a carne, para nos corrigir, e os reverenciamos: não nos sujeitaremos muito mais ao Pai dos espíritos, para vivermos?
Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?
10 Porque aqueles, na verdade, por um pouco de tempo, nos corrigiam como bem lhes parecia; porém este, para nosso proveito, para sermos participantes da sua santidade.
For they indeed for a few days disciplined us as seemed good to them, but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.
11 E, na verdade, toda a correção, ao presente, não parece ser causa de gozo, senão de tristeza, mas depois produz um fruto pacífico de justiça aos exercitados por ela
All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
12 Portanto tornai a levantar as mãos cançadas, e os joelhos desconjuntados,
Therefore lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees,
13 E fazei retas veredas para os vossos pés, para que o que manqueja se não desvie inteiramente, antes seja sarado.
and make straight paths for your feet, so what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
14 Segui a paz com todos, e a santificação, sem a qual ninguém verá o Senhor:
Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord,
15 Atendendo a que ninguém se prive da graça de Deus, a que nenhuma raiz de amargura, brotando, vos perturbe, e por ela muitos se contaminem.
looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and many be defiled by it,
16 Que ninguém seja fornicário, ou profano, como Esaú, que por um manjar vendeu o seu direito de primogenitura.
lest there be any sexually immoral person or profane person, like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal.
17 Porque bem sabeis que, querendo ainda depois herdar a benção, foi rejeitado, porque não achou lugar de arrependimento, ainda que com lágrimas o buscou.
For you know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for a change of mind though he sought it diligently with tears.
18 Porque não chegastes ao monte que se não podia tocar, e ao fogo incêndido, e à escuridão, e às trevas, e à tempestade,
For you have not come to a mountain that might be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness, darkness, storm,
19 E ao sonido da trombeta, e à voz das palavras, a qual os que a ouviram pediram que se lhes não falasse mais;
the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which those who heard it begged that not one more word should be spoken to them,
20 Porque não podiam suportar o que se lhes mandava: se até uma besta tocar o monte, será apedrejada ou passada com uma flecha.
for they could not stand that which was commanded, “If even an animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned”.
21 E tão terrível era a visão, que Moisés disse: Estou todo assombrado, e tremendo.
So fearful was the appearance that Moses said, “I am terrified and trembling.”
22 Mas chegastes ao monte de Sião, e à cidade do Deus vivo, à Jerusalém celestial, e aos muitos milhares de anjos;
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable multitudes of angels,
23 Á assembléia geral e igreja dos primogênitos, que estão inscritos nos céus, e a Deus, o juiz de todos, e aos espíritos dos justos aperfeiçoados
to the festal gathering and assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24 E a Jesus, o Mediador do Novo Testamento, e ao sangue da aspersão, que fala melhores coisas do que o de Abel.
to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel.
25 Vede que não rejeiteis ao que fala; porque, se não escaparam aqueles que rejeitaram ao que na terra dava respostas divinas, muito menos escaparemos nós, se nos desviarmos daquele que é dos céus
See that you don’t refuse him who speaks. For if they didn’t escape when they refused him who warned on the earth, how much more will we not escape who turn away from him who warns from heaven,
26 A voz do qual moveu então a terra, porém agora anunciou, dizendo: Ainda uma vez comoverei, não só a terra, senão também o céu.
whose voice shook the earth then, but now he has promised, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heavens.”
27 E esta palavra: Ainda uma vez, mostra a mudança das coisas móveis, como coisas feitas, para que as imóveis permaneçam.
This phrase, “Yet once more” signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.
28 Pelo que, recebendo o reino imóvel, retenhamos a graça, pela qual sirvamos a Deus agradavelmente com reverência e piedade;
Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that can’t be shaken, let’s have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe,
29 Porque o nosso Deus é um fogo consumidor.
for our God is a consuming fire.
