1 No sétimo mes, ao vigésimo primeiro do mes, foi a palavra do Senhor pelo ministério do profeta Aggeo, dizendo:
In the seventh month on the twenty-first day of the month, the word of Yahweh came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying,
2 Fala agora a Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, príncipe de Judá, e a Josué, filho de Josadac, sumo sacerdote, e ao resto do povo, dizendo:
“Speak to the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and to the high priest Joshua son of Jehozadak, and to the remnant of the people. Say,
3 Quem há entre vós que resta, que viu esta casa na sua primeira glória, e qual agora a vêdes? não é esta como nada em vossos olhos, comparada com aquela.
'Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Is it not like nothing in your eyes?
4 Ora, pois, esforça-te, Zorobabel, diz o Senhor, e esforça-te, Josué, filho de Josadac, sumo sacerdote, e esforça-te, todo o povo da terra, diz o Senhor, e obra; porque eu sou convosco, diz o Senhor dos exércitos,
Now, be strong, Zerubbabel!—this is Yahweh's declaration— and be strong, high priest Joshua son of Jehozadak; and be strong, all you people in the land!—this is Yahweh's declaration— and work, for I am with you!—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts.
5 Segundo a palavra que concertei convosco, quando saístes do Egito, e o meu espírito ficou no meio de vós: não temais.
This is the covenant that I established with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit remains with you. Do not fear!
6 Porque assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Ainda uma vez daqui a pouco, e farei tremer os céus, e a terra, e o mar, e a terra seca;
For Yahweh of hosts says this: In a little while I will once again shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land!
7 E farei tremer a todas as nações, e virão ao Desejado de todas as nações, e encherei esta casa de glória, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
I will shake every nation, and every nation will bring their precious things to me, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of hosts.
8 Minha é a prata, e meu é o ouro, disse o Senhor dos exércitos.
The silver and gold are mine!—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts.
9 A glória desta última casa será maior do que a da primeira, diz o Senhor dos exércitos, e neste lugar darei a paz, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
The glory of this house will be greater in the future than at the beginning, says Yahweh of hosts, and I will give peace in this place!—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts.”
10 Ao vigésimo quarto do mês nono, no segundo ano de Dario, veio a palavra do Senhor pelo ministério do profeta Aggeo, dizendo:
On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
11 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Pergunta agora aos sacerdotes, acerca da lei, dizendo:
“Yahweh of hosts says this: Ask the priests concerning the law, and say,
12 Se alguém leva carne santa na aba do seu vestido, e com a sua aba toca no pão, ou no guizado, ou no vinho, ou no azeite, ou em outro qualquer mantimento, porventura isso será santificado? E os sacerdotes, respondendo, diziam: Não.
'If a man carries meat that is set apart to Yahweh in the fold of his garment, and the fold touches bread or stew, wine or oil, or any kind of food, does it become holy?'” The priests answered and said, “No.”
13 E disse Aggeo: Se algum imundo, por causa dum corpo morto, tocar em alguma destas coisas, porventura ficará imunda? E os sacerdotes, respondendo, diziam: Ficará imunda.
Then Haggai said, “If someone who is unclean because of death touches any of these things, do they become unclean?” The priests answered and said, “Yes, they become unclean.”
14 Então respondeu Aggeo, e disse: Assim é que este povo, e assim é que esta nação está diante do meu rosto, disse o Senhor; e assim é toda a obra das suas mãos: e tudo o que ali oferecem imundo é.
So Haggai answered and said, “So it is with this people and this nation before me!—this is Yahweh's declaration—and so it is with everything done by their hands. What they offer to me is unclean!
15 Agora pois, aplicai o vosso coração nisto, desde este dia em diante, antes que pozesseis pedra sobre pedra no templo do Senhor.
So now, think in your minds about the past leading up to this very day. Before stone was placed upon stone in the temple of Yahweh,
16 Depois que estas coisas se faziam, veio alguém ao montão de grão, de vinte medidas, e havia somente dez: vindo ao lagar para tirar cincoênta do lagar, havia somente vinte.
how was it then? When you came to a heap of twenty measures of grain, there were only ten; and when you came to the wine vat to draw out fifty measures, there were only twenty.
17 Feri-vos com queimadura, e com ferrugem, e com saraiva, em toda a obra das vossas mãos; e não houve entre vós quem voltasse para mim, diz o Senhor.
I afflicted you and all the work of your hands with blight and mildew, but you still did not turn to me—this is Yahweh's declaration.
18 Ponde pois o vosso coração nisto, desde este dia em diante: desde o vigésimo quarto dia do mês nono, desde o dia em que se fundou o templo do Senhor, ponde o vosso coração nisto.
Consider from this day forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundation of Yahweh's temple was laid. Consider it!
19 Porventura ainda há semente no celeiro? nem ainda a videira, nem a figueira, nem a romeira, nem a oliveira, tem dado os seus frutos, mas desde este dia te abençoarei.
Is there still seed in the storehouse? The vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not produced! But from this day will I bless you!”
20 E veio a palavra do Senhor segunda vez a Aggeo, aos vinte e quatro do mes, dizendo:
Then the word of Yahweh came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month and said,
21 Fala a Zorobabel, príncipe de Judá, dizendo: Farei tremer os céus e a terra:
“Speak to the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel, and say, 'I will shake the heavens and the earth.
22 E transtornarei o trono dos reinos, e destruirei a força dos reinos das nações; e transtornarei o carro e os que nele se assentam; e os cavalos e os que andam montados neles cairão, cada um pela espada do seu irmão.
For I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms and destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations! I will overthrow the chariots and their riders; the horses and their riders will fall down, each one because of his brother's sword.
23 Naquele dia, diz o Senhor dos exércitos, te tomarei, ó Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, servo meu, diz o Senhor, e te farei como um anel de selar; porque te escolhi, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
On that day—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts—I will take you, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, as my servant—this is Yahweh's declaration. I will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you! —this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts!'”
