Gênesis 42
1 Vendo então Jacob que havia mantimento no Egito, disse Jacob a seus filhos: Porque estais olhando uns para os outros?
When Iacob sawe that there was corne to be solde in Egipte he sayde vnto his sones: why are ye negligent?
2 Disse mais: Eis que tenho ouvido que há mantimentos no Egito; descei para lá, e comprai-nos dali, para que vivamos e não morramos.
beholde I haue hearde that there is corne to be solde in Egipte. Gete you thither and bye vs corne fro thece that we maye lyue and not dye.
3 Então desceram os dez irmãos de José, para comprarem trigo do Egito.
So went Iosephs ten brethern doune to bye corne in Egipte
4 A Benjamin, porém, irmão de José não enviou Jacob com os seus irmãos, porque dizia: Para que lhe não suceda porventura algum desastre.
for Ben Iamin Iosephs brother wold not Iacob sende with his other brethren: for he sayde: some mysfortune myght happen him
5 Assim vieram os filhos de Israel para comprar, entre os que vinham lá; porque havia fome na terra de Canaan.
And the sonnes of Israell came to bye corne amonge other that came for there was derth also in the lande of Canaan.
6 José, pois, era o governador daquela terra; ele vendia a todo o povo da terra; e os irmãos de José vieram, e inclinaram-se a ele com a face na terra.
And Ioseph was gouerner in the londe and solde corne to all the people of the londe. And his brethren came and fell flatt on the grounde before him.
7 E José, vendo os seus irmãos, conheceu-os; porém mostrou-se estranho para com eles, e falou com eles asperamente, e disse-lhes: de onde vindes? E eles disseram: Da terra de Canaan, para comprarmos mantimento.
When Ioseph sawe his brethern he knewe them: But made straunge vnto them and spake rughly vnto them saynge: Whence come ye? and they sayde: out of the lande of Canaan to bye vitayle.
8 José, pois, conheceu os seus irmãos; mas eles não o conheceram.
Ioseph knewe his brethern but they knewe not him.
9 Então José lembrou-se dos sonhos, que havia sonhado deles, e disse-lhes: Vós sois espias, e sois vindos para ver a nudez da terra.
And Ioseph remembred his dreames which he dreamed of them and sayde vnto them: ye are spies and to se where the lande is weake is youre comynge.
10 E eles lhe disseram: Não, senhor meu; mas teus servos são vindos a comprar mantimento.
And they sayde vnto him: nay my lorde: but to bye vitayle thy seruauntes are come.
11 Todos nós somos filhos de um varão; somos homens de retidão; os teus servos não são espias.
We are all one mans sonnes and meane truely and thy seruauntes are no spies.
12 E ele lhes disse: Não; antes viestes para ver a nudez da terra.
And he sayde vnto them: nay verely but euen to se where the land is weake is youre comynge.
13 E eles disseram: Nós, teus servos, somos doze irmãos, filhos de um varão na terra de Canaan; e eis que aqui o mais novo está com nosso pai hoje; mas um não está mais.
And they sayde: we thi seruauntes are. xij. brethern the sonnes of one man in the lande of Canaan. The yongest is yet with oure father and one no man woteth where he is.
14 Então lhes disse José: Isso é o que vos tenho dito, dizendo que sois espias:
Ioseph sayde vnto them that is it that I sayde vnto you that ye are surelye spies.
15 Nisto sereis provados; pela vida de faraó, não saireis daqui senão quando vosso irmão mais novo vier aqui.
Here by ye shall be proued. For by the lyfe of Pharao ye shall not goo hence vntyll youre yongest brother be come hither.
16 Enviai um dentre vós, que traga vosso irmão, mas vós ficareis presos, e vossas palavras sejam provadas, se há verdade convosco; e se não, pela vida de faraó, vós sois espias.
Sende therfore one off you and lett him fett youre brother and ye shalbe in preason in the meane season. And thereby shall youre wordes be proued whether there be any trueth in you: or els by the lyfe of Pharao ye are but spies.
17 E pô-los juntos em guarda três dias.
And he put them in warde thre dayes.
18 E ao terceiro dia disse-lhes José: Fazei isso, e vivereis; porque eu temo a Deus.
And Ioseph sayde vnto the the thryd daye: This doo and lyue for I feare Gode
19 Se sois homens de retidão, que fique um de vossos irmãos preso na casa de vossa prisão; e vós ide, levai mantimento para a fome de vossa casa,
Yf ye meane no hurte let one of youre brethern be bounde in the preason and goo ye and brynge the necessarie foode vnto youre housholdes
20 E trazei-me o vosso irmão mais novo, e serão verificadas vossas palavras, e não morrereis. E eles assim fizeram.
and brynge youre yongest brother vnto me: that youre wordes maye be beleved ad that ye dye not And they did so.
21 Então disseram uns aos outros: Na verdade, somos culpados acerca de nosso irmão, pois vimos a angústia da sua alma, quando nos rogava; nós porém não ouvimos: por isso vem sobre nós esta angústia.
Than they sayde one to a nother: we haue verely synned agaynst oure brother in that we sawe the anguysh of his soull when he besought us and wold not heare him: therfore is this troubyll come apon us.
22 E Ruben respondeu-lhes, dizendo: Não vo-lo dizia eu, dizendo: Não pequeis contra o moço; mas não ouvistes: e vêdes aqui, o seu sangue também à requerido.
Ruben answered the saynge: sayde I not vnto you that ye shulde not synne agaynst the lad? but ye wolde not heare And now verely see his bloude is requyred.
23 E eles não sabiam que José os entendia, porque havia intérprete entre eles.
They were not aware that Ioseph vnderstode them for he spake vnto them by an interpreter.
24 E retirou-se deles, e chorou. Depois tornou a eles, e falou-lhes, e tomou a Simeão deles, e amarrou-o perante os seus olhos.
And he turned from them and wepte and than turned to them agayne ad comened with them and toke out Simeon from amonge the and bownde him before their eyes
25 E ordenou José, que enchessem os seus sacos de trigo, e que lhes restituissem o seu dinheiro a cada um no seu saco, e lhes dessem comida para o caminho; e fizeram-lhes assim.
ad commaunded to fyll their saekes wyth corne and to put euery mans money in his sacke and to geue them vitayle to spende by the waye. And so it was done to them.
26 E carregaram o seu trigo sobre os seus jumentos, e partiram dali.
And they laded their asses with the corne and departed thence.
27 E, abrindo um deles o seu saco, para dar pasto ao seu jumento na venda, viu o seu dinheiro; porque eis que estava na boca do seu saco.
And as one of them opened his sacke for to geue his asse prauender in the Inne he spied his money in his sacks mouth
28 E disse a seus irmãos: Tornou-se o meu dinheiro, e ei-lo também aqui no meu saco. Então lhes desfaleceu o coração, e pasmavam, dizendo um ao outro: Que é isto que Deus nos tem feito?
And he sayde vnto his brethren: my money is restored me agayne and is eue in my sackes mouth Than their hartes fayled them and were astoynyed and sayde one to a nother: how cometh it that God dealeth thus with us?
29 E vieram para Jacob, seu pai, na terra de Canaan; e contaram-lhe tudo o que lhes aconteceu, dizendo:
And they came vnto Iacob their father vnto the lande of Canaan and tolde him all that had happened them saynge.
30 O varão, o senhor da terra, falou conosco asperamente, e tratou-nos como espias da terra;
The lorde of the lade spake rughly to us and toke us for spyes to serche the countte.
31 Mas dissemos-lhe: Somos homens de retidão: não somos espias:
And we sayde vnto him: we meane truely and are no spies.
32 Somos doze irmãos, filhos de nosso pai; um não é mais, e o mais novo está hoje com nosso pai na terra de Canaan.
We be. xij. bretren sones of oure father one is awaye and the yongest is now with oure father in the lande of Canaan.
33 E aquele varão, o senhor da terra, nos disse: nisto conhecerei que vós sois homens de retidão; deixai comigo um de vossos irmãos, e tomai para a fome de vossas casas, e parti,
And the lorde of the countre sayde vnto us: here by shall I knowe yf ye meane truely: leaue one of youre brethern here with me and take foode necessary for youre housholdes and get you awaye
34 E trazei-me vosso irmão mais novo; assim saberei que não sois espias, mas homens de retidão; então vos darei o vosso irmão e negociareis na terra.
and brynge youre yongest brother vnto me And thereby shall I knowe that ye are no spyes but meane truely: So will I delyuer you youre brother agayne and ye shall occupie in the lande.
35 E aconteceu que, despejando eles os seus sacos, eis que cada um tinha a trouxinha com seu dinheiro no seu saco; e viram as trouxinhas com seu dinheiro, eles e seu pai, e temeram.
And as they emptied their sackes beholde: euery mans bundell of money was in his sacke And when both they and their father sawe the bundells of money they were afrayde.
36 Então Jacob, seu pai, disse-lhes: Tendes-me desfilhado; José não está mais, e Simeão não está mais: agora levareis a Benjamin. Todas estas coisas vieram sobre mim.
And Iacob their father sayde vnto them: Me haue ye robbed of my childern: Ioseph is away and Simeon is awaye and ye will take Ben Iamin awaye. All these thinges fall vpon me.
37 Mas Ruben falou a seu pai, dizendo: Mata os meus dois filhos, se to não tornar a trazer; dá-mo em minha mão, e to tornarei a trazer.
Ruben answered his father saynge: Slee my two sonnes yf I bringe him not to the agayne. Delyuer him therfore to my honde and I will brynge him to the agayne:
38 Ele porém disse: Não descerá meu filho convosco; porquanto o seu irmão é morto, e ele só ficou. Se lhe sucedesse algum desastre no caminho que fordes, fareis descer minhas cãs com tristeza à sepultura. (Sheol h7585)
And he sayde: my sonne shall not go downe with you. For his brother is dead and he is left alone Moreouer some mysfortune myght happen vpon him by the waye which ye goo. And so shuld ye brynge my gray head with sorowe vnto the graue. (Sheol h7585)
