Gênesis 23
1 E foi a vida de Sarah cento e vinte e sete anos: estes foram os anos da vida de Sarah.
And the life of Sarah came to be, a hundred and twenty-seven years, —the years of the life of Sarah.
2 E morreu Sarah em Kiriath-arba, que é Hebron, na terra de Canaan; e veio Abraão lamentar a Sarah e chorar por ela.
And Sarah died in Kiriath-arba, the same, is Hebron in the land of Canaan, —and Abraham went in to wail for Sarah and to weep for her.
3 Depois se levantou Abraão de diante do seu morto, e falou aos filhos de Heth, dizendo:
And Abraham rose up from over the face of his dead, —and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying;
4 Estrangeiro e peregrino sou entre vós: dai-me possessão de sepultura convosco, para que eu sepulte o meu morto de diante da minha face.
A sojourner and settler, am I with you, —Give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, That I may bury my dead, from before me.
5 E responderam os filhos de Heth a Abraão, dizendo-lhe:
And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him:
6 Ouve-nos, meu senhor; príncipe de Deus és no meio de nós; enterra o teu morto na mais escolhida de nossas sepulturas; nenhum de nós te vedará a sua sepultura, para enterrar o teu morto.
Hear us, my lord! A prince of God, art thou in our midst, In the choice of our buryingplaces, bury thy dead, —Not, a man from among us his, burying-place, will withhold from thee, from burying thy dead.
7 Então se levantou Abraão, e inclinou-se diante do povo da terra, diante dos filhos de Heth.
And Abraham rose up, and bowed himself down to the people of the land, to the sons of Heth;
8 E falou com eles, dizendo: Se é de vossa vontade que eu sepulte o meu morto de diante de minha face, ouvi-me e falai por mim a Ephron, filho de Zohar,
and spake with them, saying, —If it is with the consent of your minds that I should bury my dead from before me, hear me, and intercede for me, with Ephron son of Zohar:
9 Que ele me dê a cova de Machpelah, que ele tem no fim do seu campo; que ma dê pelo devido preço em herança de sepulcro no meio de vós
That he would give me, the cave of Machpelah, which pertaineth unto him, which is within the bounds of his field, —For full silver, let him give it me in your midst, For a possession of a buryingplace.
10 Ora Ephron habitava no meio dos filhos de Heth: e respondeu Ephron hetheu a Abraão, aos ouvidos dos filhos de Heth, de todos os que entravam pela porta da sua cidade, dizendo:
Now, Ephron, was sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth, —so Ephron the Hittite responded to Abraham, in the ears of the sons of Heth, even all that were entering the gate of his city, saying:
11 Não, meu senhor: ouve-me, o campo te dou, também te dou a cova que nele está, diante dos olhos dos filhos do meu povo t'a dou; sepulta o teu morto.
Nay, my lord, hear me, The field, have I given to thee And, the cave that is therein, to thee, have I given it, —In the eyes of the sons of my people, have I given it thee Bury thy dead.
12 Então Abraão se inclinou diante da face do povo da terra,
So Abraham boweth himself down, before the people of the land:
13 E falou a Ephron, aos ouvidos do povo da terra, dizendo: Mas se tu estás por isto, ouve-me, peço-te: o preço do campo o darei; toma-o de mim, e sepultarei ali o meu morto.
and spake unto Ephron in the ears of the people of the land saying, Only if, thou, wouldst, hear me, —I have given the silver of the field Take it of me, That I may bury my dead here.
14 E respondeu Ephron a Abraão, dizendo-lhe:
And Ephron responded to Abraham, saying to him,
15 Meu senhor, ouve-me, a terra é de quatrocentos siclos de prata; que é isto entre mim e ti? sepulta o teu morto.
My lord, hear me, —Land worth four hundred shekels of silver—betwixt me and thee, what is that? And thy dead., bury thou.
16 E Abraão deu ouvidos a Ephron e Abraão pesou a Ephron a prata de que tinha falado aos ouvidos dos filhos de Heth, quatrocentos siclos de prata, correntes entre mercadores.
And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron, and Abraham weighed out to Ephron the silver of which he had spoken in the ears of the sons of Heth, —four hundred shekels of silver, current with the merchant,
17 Assim o campo de Ephron, que estava em Machpelah, em frente de Mamre, o campo e a cova que nele estava, e todo o arvoredo que no campo havia, que estava em todo o seu contorno ao redor,
So was confirmed the field of Ephron, which is in Machpelah, which is before Mamre, —the field and the cave which is therein, and all the timber which was in the field, which was in all the boundary thereof round about,
18 Se confirmou a Abraão em possessão diante dos olhos dos filhos de Heth, de todos os que entravam pela porta da sua cidade.
to Abraham as a purchase in the eyes of the sons of Heth, —with all who were entering the gate of his city.
19 E depois sepultou Abraão a Sarah sua mulher na cova do campo de Machpelah, em frente de Mamre, que é Hebron, na terra de Canaan.
And after this, did Abraham bury Sarah his wife, within the cave of the field of Machpelah, over against Mamre, the same, is Hebron, —in the land of Canaan.
20 Assim o campo e a cova que nele estava se confirmou a Abraão em possessão de sepultura pelos filhos de Heth.
So was confirmed the field with the cave which was therein to Abraham, for a possession of a buryingplace, —from the sons of Heth.
