Gênesis 13

1 Subiu, pois, Abrão do Egito para a banda do Sul, ele e sua mulher, e tudo o que tinha, e com ele Lot.

So Abram came up out of Egypt he and his wife and all that he had and Lot with him, towards the South.

2 E ia Abrão muito rico em gado, em prata, e em ouro.

Now, Abram, was very rich, —in cattle, in silver and in gold.

3 E fez as suas jornadas do Sul até bethel, até ao lugar onde ao princípio estivera a sua tenda, entre bethel e Ai;

And he went his way, by his removals, from the South even as far as to Bethel, —as far as the place where his tent was at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai:

4 Até ao lugar do altar que de antes ali tinha feito; e Abrão invocou ali o nome do Senhor.

unto the place of the altar, which he made there at first, —and Abram called there, on the name of Yahweh.

5 E também Lot, que ia com Abrão, tinha rebanhos, e vacas, e tendas.

Now, Lot also, who was going with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents.

6 E não tinha capacidade a terra para poderem habitar juntos; porque a sua fazenda era muita; de maneira que não podiam habitar juntos.

And the land suffered them not to dwell together, —because their substance had become, great, so that they could not dwell together.

7 E houve contenda entre os pastores do gado de Abrão, e os pastores do gado de Lot: e os Cananeus e os Perizeus habitavam então na terra.

And there arose a strife betwixt the herdmen of Abram, and the herdmen of Lot. Now the Canaanite and the Perizzite, were then dwelling in the land.

8 E disse Abrão a Lot: Ora não haja contenda entre mim e ti, e entre os meus pastores e os teus pastores, porque irmãos varões somos.

So then Abram said unto Lot Pray let not cause of strife arise betwixt me and thee, or betwixt my herdmen and thy herdmen; for brethren, are we.

9 Não está toda a terra diante de ti? Eia, pois, aparta-te de mim; se escolheres a esquerda, irei para a direita; e se a direita escolheres, eu irei para a esquerda.

Is not, all the land, before thee? I pray thee, separate thyself from me, —if to the left hand, then I will go to the right, if to the right hand, then I will go to the left.

10 E levantou Lot os seus olhos, e viu toda a campina do Jordão, que era toda bem regada, antes do Senhor ter destruído Sodoma e Gomorrha, e era como o jardim do Senhor, como a terra do Egito, quando se entra em Zoar.

So Lot lifted up his eyes and beheld all the circuit of the Jordan, that the whole of it, was well-watered, —before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the Garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as thou enterest into Zoar.

11 Então Lot escolheu para si toda a campina do Jordão, e partiu Lot para o Oriente, e apartaram-se um do outro.

And Lot chose for himself all the circuit of the Jordan, so Lot brake up eastwards, —and they separated themselves, each man from his brother:

12 Habitou Abrão na terra de Canaan, e Lot habitou nas cidades da campina, e armou as suas tendas até Sodoma.

Abram, fixed his dwelling in the land of Canaan, —but, Lot, fixed his dwelling among the cities, of the circuit, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.

13 Ora eram maus os varões de Sodoma, e grandes pecadores contra o Senhor.

Now, the men of Sodom were base and sinful, —against Yahweh, exceedingly.

14 E disse o Senhor a Abrão, depois que Lot se apartou dele: Levanta agora os teus olhos, e olha desde o lugar onde estás, para a banda do Norte, e do Sul, e do Oriente, e do ocidente;

And, Yahweh, said unto Abram after that Lot had separated himself from him, Lift up, I pray thee thine eyes and look, from the place where thou art, —northward and southward and eastward and westward;

15 Porque toda esta terra que vês, te hei de dar a ti, e à tua semente, para sempre.

for all the land which thou art beholding—to thee, will I give it, and to thy seed unto times age-abiding;

16 E farei a tua semente como o pó da terra; de maneira que se alguém poder contar o pó da terra, também a tua semente será contada.

and I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth, —so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, thy seed also, may be numbered.

17 Levanta-te, percorre essa terra, no seu comprimento e na sua largura; porque a ti a darei.

Rise! go up and down in the land, to the length thereof and to the breadth thereof, for to thee, will I give it.

18 E Abrão armou as suas tendas, e veio, e habitou nos carvalhais de Mamre, que estão junto a Hebron; e edificou ali um altar ao Senhor.

So Abram moved his tent and came in and dwelt among the oaks of Mamre, which were in Hebron, —and built there an altar to Yahweh.
