Gálatas 1
1 Paulo apóstolo (não da parte dos homens, nem por homem algum, mas por Jesus Cristo, e por Deus Pai, que o resuscitou dos mortos)
This letter comes from Paul, an apostle not appointed by any human organization or human authority. Quite the contrary: I was appointed by Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Jesus from the dead.
2 E todos os irmãos que estão comigo, às igrejas da Galacia:
All the brothers and sisters here with me join in sending this letter to the churches in Galatia.
3 Graça e paz de Deus Pai e de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,
May the grace and peace of God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ be with you!
4 O qual se deu a si mesmo por nossos pecados, para nos livrar do presente século mau, segundo a vontade de Deus nosso Pai. (aiōn g165)
Jesus gave himself for our sins to set us free from this current world of evil, following the will of our God and Father. (aiōn g165)
To him be glory forever and ever! Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 Maravilho-me de que tão depressa passasseis daquele que vos chamou à graça de Cristo para outro evangelho.
I'm shocked at how quickly you're abandoning the God who by the grace of Christ called you. You are turning to a different kind of good news
7 Que não é outro, mas há alguns que vos inquietam e querem transtornar o evangelho de Cristo.
that isn't good news at all! Some people there are confusing you, wanting to pervert the good news of Christ.
8 Mas, ainda que nós mesmos, ou um anjo do céu vos anuncie outro evangelho, além do que já vos tenho anunciado, seja anátema.
But if anyone, even we ourselves, or even an angel from heaven, should promote any other kind of good news than what we have already told you, let them be condemned!
9 Assim como já vo-lo dissemos, agora de novo também vo-lo digo. Se algum vos anunciar outro evangelho além do que já recebestes, seja anátema.
I repeat what we've told you before: if anyone promotes any other kind of good news than what you've already accepted, let them be condemned!
10 Porque, persuado eu agora a homens ou a Deus? ou procuro comprazer a homens? se comprazera ainda aos homens, não seria servo de Cristo.
Whose approval do you think I want—that of people, or of God? Do you think I'm trying to please people? If I wanted to please people I wouldn't be a servant of Christ!
11 Mas faço-vos saber, irmãos, que o evangelho que por mim foi anunciado não é segundo os homens.
Let me make it clear, my friends, regarding the good news I'm declaring—it did not come from any human being.
12 Porque não o recebi, nem aprendi de homem algum, mas pela revelação de Jesus Cristo.
I didn't receive it from anyone, and nobody taught it to me—it was Jesus Christ who revealed it to me.
13 Porque já ouvistes qual foi antigamente a minha conduta no judaismo, que sobremaneira perseguia a igreja de Deus e a assolava.
You heard how I behaved as a follower of the Jewish religion—how I fanatically persecuted God's church, savagely trying to destroy it.
14 E como na minha nação excedia em judaismo a muitos da minha idade, sendo extremamente zeloso das tradições de meus pais.
I surpassed my contemporaries in the practice of the Jewish religion because I was so fervently devoted to the traditions of my ancestors.
15 Mas, quando aprouve a Deus, que desde o ventre de minha mãe me separou, e me chamou pela sua graça,
But when God (who had set me apart from birth) called me through his grace, and was pleased
16 Revelar seu Filho em mim, para que o pregasse entre os gentios, não consultei a carne nem o sangue,
to reveal his Son to me so that I could announce the good news to the nations, I didn't discuss this with anyone.
17 Nem tornei a Jerusalém, a ter com os que já antes de mim eram apóstolos, mas parti para a Arábia, e voltei outra vez a Damasco.
I didn't go to Jerusalem to talk to those who preceded me as apostles; instead I left for Arabia, and then later returned to Damascus.
18 Depois, passados três anos, fui a Jerusalém para ver a Pedro, e fiquei com ele quinze dias.
After three years I went to Jerusalem to visit Peter. I stayed with him for two weeks.
19 E não vi a nenhum outro dos apóstolos, senão a Thiago, irmão do Senhor.
I didn't see any other apostles except James, the Lord's brother.
20 Ora, acerca das coisas que vos escrevo, eis que diante de Deus testifico que não minto.
(Let me assure you before God that I'm not lying about what I'm writing to you!)
21 Depois fui para as partes da Síria e da Cilicia.
Then I went to Syria and Cilicia.
22 E não era conhecido de vista das igrejas da Judeia, que estavam em Cristo;
Even so, my face wasn't known to those in the churches of Judea.
23 Mas somente tinham ouvido dizer: aquele que de antes nos perseguia anuncia agora a fé que de antes destruia.
They had only heard people say, “The man who used to persecute us is now spreading the faith he once tried to destroy!”
24 E glorificavam a Deus a respeito de mim.
—and they praised God because of me.
