Esdras 10
1 E orando Esdras assim, e fazendo esta confissão, chorando, e prostrando-se diante da casa de Deus, ajuntou-se a ele de Israel uma mui grande congregação, de homens e de mulheres, e de crianças; porque o povo chorava com grande choro.
And while Ezra prayed, and made confession, weeping and falling down before the house of God, there were gathered to him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children; for the people wept very much.
2 Então respondeu Sechanias, filho de Jehiel, um dos filhos de Elam, e disse a Esdras: Nós temos transgredido contra o nosso Deus, e casamos com mulheres estranhas do povo da terra, mas, no tocante a isto, ainda há esperança para Israel.
And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Ezra, We have acted unfaithfully toward our God, and have taken foreign wives of the peoples of the land; yet now there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.
3 Agora pois façamos concerto com o nosso Deus de que despediremos todas as mulheres, e tudo o que é nascido delas, conforme ao conselho do Senhor, e dos que tremem ao mandado do nosso Deus; e faça-se conforme a lei.
And now let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of [my] lord, and of those that tremble at the commandments of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
4 Levanta-te, pois, porque te pertence este negócio, e nós seremos contigo; esforça-te, e obra.
Arise, for this matter is incumbent on thee, and we will be with thee: be of good courage, and do [it].
5 Então Esdras se levantou, e ajuramentou os maiorais dos sacerdotes e dos levitas, e a todo o Israel, de que fariam conforme a esta palavra, e juraram.
Then Ezra arose, and made the chiefs of the priests, of the Levites, and of all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word. And they swore.
6 E Esdras se levantou de diante da casa de Deus, e entrou na câmara de Johanan, filho de Eliasib: e, vindo lá, pão não comeu, e água não bebeu; porque estava anojado pela transgressão dos do cativeiro.
And Ezra arose from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan the son of Eliashib; and when he came thither, he ate no bread and drank no water; for he mourned because of the unfaithfulness of them that had been carried away.
7 E fizeram passar pregão por Judá e Jerusalém, e todos os que vieram do cativeiro, para que se ajuntassem em Jerusalém.
And they made proclamation in Judah and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;
8 E que todo aquele que em três dias não viesse, segundo o conselho dos príncipes e dos anciãos, toda a sua fazenda se poria em interdito, e ele seria separado da congregação dos do cativeiro.
and that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be confiscated, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.
9 Então todos os homens de Judá e Benjamin em três dias se ajuntaram em Jerusalém: era o nono mes, no dia vinte do mes: e todo o povo se assentou na praça da casa de Deus, tremendo por este negócio e por causa das grandes chuvas.
Then were all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered together at Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month; and all the people sat in the open space of the house of God, trembling because of the matter, and because of the pouring rain.
10 Então se levantou Esdras, o sacerdote, e disse-lhes: Vós tendes transgredido, e casastes com mulheres estranhas, multiplicando o delito de Israel.
And Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, Ye have acted unfaithfully, and have taken foreign wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.
11 Agora pois fazei confissão ao Senhor Deus de vossos pais; e fazei a sua vontade; e apartai-vos dos povos das terras, e das mulheres estranhas.
And now make confession to Jehovah the God of your fathers, and do his pleasure, and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign wives.
12 E respondeu toda a congregação, e disseram em altas vozes: Assim seja, conforme às tuas palavras nos convém fazer.
And the whole congregation answered and said with a loud voice, Yes, it is for us to do according to thy words.
13 Porém o povo é muito, e também é tempo de grandes chuvas, e não se pode estar aqui fora: nem é obra dum dia nem de dois, porque somos muitos os que transgredimos neste negócio.
But the people are many, and it is a time of pouring rain, and it is not possible to stand without: neither is this a work for one day or two; for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.
14 Ora ponham-se os nossos príncipes, por toda a congregação sobre este negócio; e todos os que em nossas cidades casaram com mulheres estranhas venham em tempos apontados, e com eles os anciãos de cada cidade, e os seus juízes, até que desviemos de nós o ardor da ira do nosso Deus, por esta causa.
Let now our princes, while this matter is going on, stand for all the congregation, and let all those that have taken foreign wives in our cities come at the appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce anger of our God be turned from us.
15 Porém somente Jonathan, filho de Asael, e Jehazias, filho de Tikva, se puseram sobre este negócio: e Mesullam, e Sabbethai, levita, os ajudaram.
Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahzeiah the son of Tikvah stood up against this; and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
16 E assim o fizeram os que tornaram do cativeiro: e apartaram-se o sacerdote Esdras e os homens, cabeças dos pais, segundo a casa de seus pais, e todos pelos seus nomes; e assentaram-se no primeiro dia do décimo mes, para inquirirem neste negócio.
And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest [and] certain of the chief fathers were separated according to their fathers' houses, and all of them [expressed] by name; and they sat down on the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
17 E acabaram-no com todos os homens que casaram com mulheres estranhas, até ao primeiro dia do primeiro mês.
And they ended with all the men that had taken foreign wives by the first day of the first month.
18 E acharam-se dos filhos dos sacerdotes que casaram com mulheres estranhas: dos filhos de Josué, filho de Josadak, e seus irmãos, Maaseias, e Eliezer, e Jarib, e Gadalias.
And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken foreign wives, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren: Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
19 E deram a sua mão de que despediriam suas mulheres: e, achando-se culpados, ofereceram um carneiro do rebanho pelo seu delito.
And they gave their hand to send away their wives; and they offered a ram of the flock, as trespass-offering for their guilt.
20 E dos filhos de Immer: Hanani, e Zabadias.
And of the children of Immer: Hanani, and Zebadiah.
21 E dos filhos de Harim: Maaseias, e Elias, e Semaias, e Jehiel, e Uzias.
And of the children of Harim: Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
22 E dos filhos de Pashur: Elioenai, Maseias, Ishmael, Nathanel, Jozabad, e Elasa.
And of the children of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.
23 E dos levitas: Jozabad, e Simei, e Kelaias (este é Kelitas), Pethahias, Judá, e Eliezer.
And of the Levites: Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah (that is, Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
24 E dos cantores: Eliasib: e dos porteiros: Sallum, e Telem, e Uri.
And of the singers: Eliashib. And of the doorkeepers: Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.
25 E de Israel, dos filhos de Paros: Ramias, e Jezias, e Malchias, e Miamin, e Eleazer, e Malchias, e Benaias.
And of Israel; of the children of Parosh: Ramiah, and Jizzijah, and Malchijah, and Mijamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
26 E dos filhos de Elam: Matthanias, Zacarias, e Jehiel, e Abdi, e Jeremoth, e Elias.
And of the children of Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.
27 E dos filhos de Zattu: Elioenai Eliasib, Matthanias, e Jeremoth, e Zabad, e Aziza.
And of the children of Zattu: Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
28 E dos filhos de Bebai: Johanan, Hananias, Zabbai, Athlai.
And of the children of Bebai: Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.
29 E dos filhos de Bani: Mesullam, Malluch, e Adaias, Jasub, e Seal, Jeremoth.
And of the children of Bani: Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.
30 E dos filhos de Pahath-moab: Adna, e Chelal, Benaias, Maseias, Matthanias, Besaleel, e Binnui, e Manasseh.
And of the children of Pahath-Moab: Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
31 E dos filhos de Harim: Eliezer, Jesias, Malchias, Semaias, Simeão,
And the children of Harim: Eliezer, Jishijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Simeon,
32 Benjamin, Malluch, Semarias.
Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah.
33 Dos filhos de Hasum: Mathnai, Matthattha, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, Simei.
Of the children of Hashum: Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei.
34 Dos filhos de Bani: Maadai, Amram, e Uel,
Of the sons of Bani: Maadai, Amram, and Uel,
35 Benaias, Bedias, Cheluhi,
Benaiah, Bediah, Cheluhu,
36 Vanias, Meremoth, Eliasib,
Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,
37 Matthanias, Mathnai, e Jaasai,

43 Dos filhos de Nebo: Jeiel, Mattithias, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, Joel, e Benaias.
Of the children of Nebo: Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, and Joel, Benaiah.
44 Todos estes tomaram mulheres estranhas: e alguns deles tinham mulheres de quem alcançaram filhos.
All these had taken foreign wives; and there were among them wives who had had children.
