Ezequiel 19
1 E tu levanta uma lamentação sobre os príncipes de Israel.
Moreover, take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,
2 E dize: Quem foi tua mãe? uma leoa entre leões deitada criou os seus cachorros no meio dos leãozinhos.
and say: —How lay thy mother at ease, a lioness among lions! Among young lions she nourished her whelps;
3 E fez crescer um dos seus cachorrinhos, e veio a ser leãozinho e aprendeu a apanhar a preza; e devorou os homens,
And she brought up one of her whelps; He became a young lion, And he learned to seize the prey; he devoured men.
4 E, ouvindo falar dele as nações, foi apanhado na cova delas, e o trouxeram com ganchos à terra do Egito.
And when the nations heard of him, he was taken in their pit, And they brought him with nose-rings to the land of Egypt.
5 Vendo pois ela que havia esperado muito, e que a sua expectação era perdida, tomou outro dos seus cachorros, e fez dele um leãozinho.
And when she saw that she waited in vain, and that her hope was lost, She took another of her whelps, and she made him a young lion.
6 Este pois, andando continuamente no meio dos leões, veio a ser leãozinho, e aprendeu a apanhar a preza: e devorou homens.
And he went up and down among the lions; he became a young lion, And he learned to seize the prey; he devoured men.
7 E conheceu os seus palácios, e destruiu as suas cidades; e assolou-se a terra, e a sua plenitude, ao ouvir o seu rugido.
He knew their widows, and laid waste their cities, And the land was desolate, and all that was therein, before the voice of his roaring.
8 Então se ajuntavam contra ele as gentes das províncias em roda, e estenderam sobre ele a rede, e foi apanhado na cova delas.
Then the nations set themselves against him on every side from the provinces, And spread their net over him; He was taken in their pit.
9 E meteram-no em cárcere com ganchos, e o levaram ao rei de Babilônia; fizeram-no entrar nos lugares fortes, para que se não ouvisse mais a sua voz nos montes de Israel.
And they put him with nose rings into a cage, And carried him to the king of Babylon. And they carried him to a stronghold, That his voice might be heard no more Upon the mountains of Israel.
10 Tua mãe era como uma videira na tua quietação, plantada à borda das águas, frutificando, e foi cheia de ramos, por causa das muitas águas.
Thy mother was like a vine planted like thyself by the waters; She was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters;
11 E tinha varas fortes para cetros de dominadores, e elevou-se a sua estatura entre os espessos ramos; e foi vista na sua altura com a multidão dos seus ramos.
She had strong rods for sceptres of rulers, And her stature was high among the thick branches, So that she was conspicuous in her height, And the multitude of her branches.
12 Porém foi arrancada com furor, foi abatida até à terra, e o vento oriental secou o seu fruto; quebraram-se e secaram-se as suas fortes varas, o fogo as consumiu,
But she was plucked up in fury, She was cast down to the ground, And the east wind dried up her fruit. Her strong rods were broken and withered; The fire consumed them.
13 E agora está plantada no deserto, numa terra seca e sedenta.
And now she is planted in the desert, In a dry and thirsty land.
14 E de uma vara dos seus ramos saiu fogo que consumiu o seu fruto de maneira que nela não há mais vara forte, cetro para dominar. Esta é a lamentação, e servirá de lamentação.
And a fire is gone forth out of a rod of her branches, Which hath devoured her fruit, So that she hath no strong rod for a ruler's sceptre. This is a lamentation, and it shall be for a lamentation.
