Deuteronômio 29

1 Estas são as palavras do concerto que o Senhor ordenou a Moisés na terra de Moab, que fizesse com os filhos de Israel, além do concerto que fizera com eles em Horeb.

These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he had made with them in Horeb.

2 E chamou Moisés a todo o Israel, e disse-lhes: Tendes visto tudo quanto o Senhor fez na terra do Egito, perante vossos olhos, a faraó, e a todos os seus servos, e a toda a sua terra:

And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye yourselves have seen all that the Lord hath done before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;

3 As grandes provas que os teus olhos tem visto, aqueles sinais e grandes maravilhas:

The great proofs which thy eyes have seen, those great signs, and miracles:

4 Porém não vos tem dado o Senhor um coração para entender, nem olhos para ver, nem ouvidos para ouvir, até ao dia de hoje

Yet the Lord gave you not a heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, until this day.

5 E quarenta anos vos fiz andar pelo deserto: não se envelheceram sobre vós os vossos vestidos, e nem se envelheceu no teu pé o teu sapato.

And I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes did not fall worn out from off you, and thy shoe did not fall worn out from off thy foot.

6 Pão não comestes, e vinho e bebida forte não bebestes: para que soubesseis que eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus.

Bread have ye not eaten, and wine or strong drink have ye not drunk; in order that ye might understand that I am the Lord your God.

7 Vindo vós pois a este lugar, Sehon, rei de Hesbon, e Og, rei de Basan, nos sairam ao encontro, à peleja, e nós os ferimos:

And when ye came unto this place, Sichon the king of Cheshbon, and 'Og the king of Bashan went out against us unto battle, and we smote them:

8 E tomamos a sua terra, e a demos por herança aos rubenitas, e aos gaditas, e à meia tribo dos manassitas.

And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of the Menassites.

9 Guardai pois as palavras deste concerto, e fazei-as, para que prospereis em tudo quanto fizerdes.

Keep ye therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

10 Vós todos estais hoje perante o Senhor vosso Deus: os Cabeças de vossas tribos, vossos anciãos, e os vossos oficiais, todo o homem de Israel;

Ye are standing this day, all of you, before the Lord your God; your heads of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, all the men of Israel,

11 Os vossos meninos, as vossas mulheres, e o estrangeiro que está no meio do teu arraial; desde o rachador da tua lenha até ao tirador da tua água;

Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in the midst of thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:

12 Para que entres no concerto do Senhor teu Deus, e no seu juramento que o Senhor teu Deus hoje faz contigo;

That thou shouldst enter into the covenant of the Lord thy God, and into his oath of denunciation, which the Lord thy God maketh with thee this day.

13 Para que hoje te confirme a si por povo, e ele te seja a ti por Deus, como te tem dito, e como jurou a teus pais, Abraão, Isaac e Jacob.

In order to raise thee up today unto himself for a people, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath spoken unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

14 E não somente convosco faço este concerto e este juramento,

And not with you alone do I make this covenant and this oath;

15 Mas com aquele que hoje está aqui em pé conosco perante o Senhor nosso Deus, e com aquele que hoje não está aqui conosco.

But with him that is standing here with us this day before the Lord our God, and with him that is not here with us this day.

16 Porque vós sabeis como habitamos na terra do Egito, e como passamos pelo meio das nações pelas quais passastes;

(For ye know how we dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we passed through the nations through which ye have passed;

17 E vistes as suas abominações, e os seus ídolos, o pau e a pedra, a prata e o ouro que havia entre eles.

And ye saw their abominations, and their idols, of wood and stone, silver and gold, which they had with them: )

18 Para que entre vós não haja homem, nem mulher, nem família, nem tribo, cujo coração hoje se desvie do Senhor nosso Deus, para que vá servir aos deuses destas nações; para que entre vós não haja raiz que dê fel e absinto;

So that there may not be among you a man, or a woman, or a family, or a tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the Lord our God, to go to serve the gods of these nations; that there may not be among you a root that beareth abundantly poison and wormwood.

19 E aconteça que, ouvindo as palavras desta maldição, se abençôe no seu coração, dizendo: Terei paz, ainda que ande conforme ao bom parecer do meu coração; para acrescentar à sede a bebedice

And it might come to pass, when he heareth the words of this denunciation, that he would bless himself in his heart, saying, There will be peace unto me, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart; in order that the indulgence of the passions may appease the thirst [for them]:

20 O Senhor não lhe quererá perdoar; mas então fumegará a ira do Senhor e o seu zelo sobre o tal homem, e toda a maldição escrita neste livro jazerá sobre ele; e o Senhor apagará o seu nome de debaixo do céu.

The Lord will not pardon him; but then the anger of the Lord and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and there shall rest upon him all the curse that is written in this book; and the Lord will blot out his name from under the heavens.

21 E o Senhor o separará para mal de todas as tribos de Israel, conforme a todas as maldições do concerto escrito no livro desta lei.

And the Lord will single him out unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the denunciations of the covenant which is written in this book of the law.

22 Então dirá a geração vindoura, os vossos filhos, que se levantarem depois de vós, e o estranho que virá de terras remotas, vendo as pragas desta terra, e as suas doenças, com que o Senhor a terá afligido;

And the latest generation, your children that will rise up after you, and the stranger that will come from a far land, will say, when they see the plagues of that land, and its sufferings with which the Lord hath smitten it;

23 E toda a sua terra abrazada com enxofre e sal, de sorte que não será semeada, e nada produzirá, nem nela crescerá erva alguma: assim como foi a destruição de Sodoma e de Gomorrha, de Adama e de Zeboim, que o Senhor destruiu na sua ira e no seu furor

[That] the whole soil thereof is brimstone, and salt, and a burning waste, which is not sown, and beareth not, and in which no kind of grass springeth up, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboyim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: —

24 E todas as nações dirão: Porque fez o Senhor assim com esta terra? qual foi a causa do furor desta tão grande ira

Even all the nations will say, Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this land? whence the heat of this great anger?

25 Então se dirá: Porquanto deixaram o concerto do Senhor, o Deus de seus pais, que com eles tinha feito, quando os tirou do Egito.

Then shall men say, Because they had forsaken the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt;

26 E eles foram-se, e serviram a outros deuses, e se inclinaram diante deles; deuses que os não conheceram, e nenhum dos quais ele lhes tinha dado.

And they went and served other gods, and bowed down to them, gods which they knew not, and which he had not assigned unto them;

27 Pelo que a ira do Senhor se acendeu contra esta terra, para trazer sobre ela toda a maldição que está escrita neste livro.

And the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, to bring upon it the entire curse that is written in this book;

28 E o Senhor os tirou da sua terra com ira, e com indignação, e com grande furor, e os lançou em outra terra, como neste dia se vê

And the Lord plucked them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and he cast them into another land, as it is this day.

29 As coisas encobertas são para o Senhor nosso Deus; porém as reveladas são para nós e para nossos filhos para sempre, para fazer todas as palavras desta lei

The secret things belong unto the Lord our God; but those things which are publicly known belong unto us and to our children for ever, to do all the words of this law.
