Daniel 2
1 E no segundo ano do reinado de Nabucodonozor sonhou Nabucodonosor sonhos; e o seu espírito se perturbou, e passou-se-lhe o seu sono.
And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, on account of which his spirit was troubled, and his sleep went from him.
2 E o rei mandou chamar os magos, e os astrólogos, e os encantadores, e os caldeus, para que declarassem ao rei os seus sonhos: os quais vieram e se apresentaram diante do rei.
Then the king commanded to call the scribes, and the magicians, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldaeans, that they might show the king his dreams; and they came and stood before the king.
3 E o rei lhes disse: Tive um sonho; e para saber o sonho está perturbado o meu espírito.
And the king said to them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit is troubled to know the dream.
4 E os caldeus disseram ao rei em syriaco: Ó rei, vive eternamente! dize o sonho a teus servos, e declararemos a interpretação.
And the Chaldaeans said to the king in Aramaean, O king, live forever! Tell thy servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation.
5 Respondeu o rei, e disse aos caldeus: A coisa me tem escapado; se me não fizerdes saber o sonho e a sua interpretação, sereis despedaçados, e as vossas casas serão feitas um monturo;
The king answered and said to the Chaldaeans: The word has gone from me. If ye will not make known to me the dream and the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.
6 Mas se vós me declarardes o sonho e a sua interpretação, recebereis de mim dons, e dádivas, e grande honra; portanto declarai-me o sonho e a sua interpretação.
But if ye show the dream and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive from me gifts, and rewards, and great honor. Therefore show me the dream, and its interpretation!
7 Responderam segunda vez, e disseram: Diga o rei o sonho a seus servos, e declararemos a sua interpretação.
They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation of it.
8 Respondeu o rei, e disse: Conheço eu certamente que vós quereis ganhar tempo; porque vêdes que a coisa me tem escapado.
The king answered and said, I know of a certain, that ye seek to gain time, because ye see that the word hath gone forth from me.
9 De maneira que, se me não fazeis saber o sonho, uma só sentença será a vossa; pois vós preparastes palavras mentirosas e perversas para as proferir na minha presença, até que se mude o tempo: portanto dizei-me o sonho, para que eu entenda que me podeis declarar a sua interpretação.
For if ye do not make known to me the dream, this alone is your purpose, and ye have prepared lying and deceitful words to speak before me till the time be changed. Tell me therefore the dream, and I shall know that ye can show me the interpretation thereof.
10 Responderam os caldeus na presença do rei, e disseram: Não há ninguém sobre a terra que possa declarar a palavra ao rei; pois nenhum rei há, grande ou dominador, que requeresse coisa semelhante de algum mago, ou astrólogo, ou caldeu.
The Chaldaeans answered before the king, and said: There is not a man upon the earth who can show what the king requireth; on which account no king, however great and powerful, hath asked such things of any scribe, or magician, or Chaldaean.
11 Porque a coisa que o rei requer é difícil; nem há outro que a possa declarar diante do rei, senão os deuses, cuja morada não é com a carne.
It is a hard thing which the king requireth, and there is none other that can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with men.
12 Por isso o rei muito se irou e enfureceu; e ordenou que matassem a todos os sábios de Babilônia.
For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
13 E saiu o mandado, e sairam a matar os sábios; e buscaram a Daniel e aos seus companheiros, para que fossem mortos.
And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows, to slay them.
14 Então Daniel falou avisada e prudentemente a Arioch, capitão da guarda do rei, que tinha saído para matar os sábios de Babilônia.
Then Daniel answered with understanding and wisdom to Arioch, the captain of the king's guard, who was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon.
15 Respondeu, e disse a Arioch, prefeito do rei: Porque se apressa tanto o mandado da parte do rei? Então Arioch fez saber a coisa a Daniel.
He answered and said to Arioch, the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.
16 E Daniel entrou; e pediu ao rei que lhe desse tempo, para declarar a interpretação ao rei.
Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would show the king the interpretation.
17 Então Daniel foi para a sua casa, e fez saber a coisa a Hananias, Misael e Azarias, seus companheiros:
Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions;
18 Para que pedissem misericórdia ao Deus do céu, sobre este segredo, afim de que Daniel e seus companheiros não perecessem, juntamente com o resto dos sábios de Babilônia.
that they would desire mercies of the God of heaven, concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish, with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
19 Então foi revelado o segredo a Daniel numa visão de noite: então Daniel louvou o Deus do céu.
Then was the secret revealed to Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
20 Falou Daniel, e disse: Seja bendito o nome de Deus desde o século até ao século, porque dele é a sabedoria e a força;
Daniel spake and said: Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever! for wisdom and might are his.
21 E ele muda os tempos e as horas; ele remove os reis e estabelece os reis: ele dá sabedoria aos sábios e ciência aos entendidos.
And he changeth times and seasons; he removeth kings, and setteth up kings; he giveth wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to them that have understanding.
22 Ele revela o profundo e o escondido: conhece o que está em trevas, e com ele a luz mora.
He revealeth deep and secret things; he knoweth what is in darkness, and light dwelleth with him.
23 Ó Deus de meus pais, te louvo e celebro eu, que me deste sabedoria e força; e agora me fizeste saber o que te pedimos, porque nos fizeste saber a coisa do rei.
I thank thee and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known to me now what we desired of thee; for thou hast now made known to us the king's matter.
24 Por isso Daniel entrou a Arioch, ao qual o rei tinha constituido para matar os sábios de Babilônia: entrou, e disse-lhe assim: Não mates os sábios de Babilônia; introduze-me na presença do rei, e declararei ao rei a interpretação.
Therefore Daniel went in to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon; he went and said thus to him: Destroy not the wise men of Babylon; bring me in before the king, and I will show to the king the interpretation.
25 Então Arioch depressa introduziu a Daniel na presença do rei, e disse-lhe assim: Achei um dentre os filhos dos cativos de Judá, o qual fará saber ao rei a interpretação.
Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus to him: I have found a man of the captives of Judah that will make known to the king the interpretation.
26 Respondeu o rei, e disse a Daniel (cujo nome era Belteshazzar): Podes tu fazer-me saber o sonho que vi e a sua interpretação?
The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?
27 Respondeu Daniel na presença do rei, e disse: O segredo que o rei requer, nem sábios, nem astrólogos, nem magos, nem adivinhos o podem declarar ao rei;
Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded, the wise men, the scribes, the magicians, the astrologers cannot show to the king;
28 Mas há um Deus nos céus, o qual revela os segredos; ele pois fez saber ao rei Nabucodonozor o que há de ser no fim dos dias; o teu sonho e as visões da tua cabeça na tua cama são estas:
but there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the days to come. Thy dream and the visions of thy head upon thy bed were these.
29 Estando tu, ó rei, na tua cama, subiram os teus pensamentos, acerca do que há de ser depois disto. aquele pois que revela os segredos te fez saber o que há de ser.
Thy thoughts, O king, came into thy mind, what should come to pass hereafter; and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.
30 E a mim, não pela sabedoria que em mim haja, mais do que em todos os viventes, me foi revelado este segredo, mas para que a interpretação se fizesse saber ao rei, e para que entendesse os pensamentos do teu coração.
But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me through any wisdom which I have more than all the living, but to the end that the interpretation might be made known to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
31 Tu, ó rei, estavas vendo, e eis aqui uma grande estátua: esta estátua era grande, e o seu esplendor era excelente, e estava em pé diante de ti; e a sua vista era terrível.
Thou, O king, sawest, and behold, a great image. This image, which was high and of surpassing brightness, stood before thee; and its form was terrible.
32 A cabeça daquela estátua era de ouro fino; o seu peito e os seus braços de prata; o seu ventre e as suas coxas de cobre;
The head of this image was of fine gold; his breast and his arms of silver; his belly and his thighs of brass;
33 As pernas de ferro; os seus pés em parte de ferro e em parte de barro.
his legs of iron; his feet, part of iron and part of clay.
34 Estavas vendo, até que uma pedra foi cortada, sem mão, a qual feriu a estátua nos pés de ferro e de barro, e os esmiuçou.
Thou sawest till a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet, that were of iron and clay, and broke them to pieces.
35 Então foi juntamente esmiuçado o ferro, o barro, o cobre, a prata e o ouro, e se fizeram como pragana das eiras do estio, e o vento os levou, e não se achou lugar algum para eles; mas a pedra, que feriu a estátua, se fez um grande monte, e encheu toda a terra.
Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold broken to pieces together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing-floors, and the wind carried them away, so that no place was found for them; and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
36 Este é o sonho; também a interpretação dele diremos na presença do rei
This is the dream, and now we will tell the interpretation of it before the king.
37 Tu, ó rei, és rei de reis: pois o Deus do céu te tem dado o reino, a potência, e a força, e a magestade.
Thou, O king, art a king of kings; for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power and strength and glory.
38 E onde quer que habitem filhos de homens, bestas do campo, e aves do céu, tos entregou na tua mão, e fez que dominasses sobre todos eles; tu és a cabeça de ouro.
And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the birds of heaven hath he given into thy hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art the head of gold.
39 E depois de ti se levantará outro reino, inferior ao teu; e outro terceiro reino, de metal, o qual dominará sobre toda a terra.
And after thee shall arise another kingdom, inferior to thee; and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
40 E o quarto reino será forte como ferro; da maneira que o ferro esmiuça e enfraquece tudo, como o ferro, que quebranta todas estas coisas, assim esmiuçará e quebrantará.
And a fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron; forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things; even as iron, that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
41 E, quanto ao que viste dos pés e dos dedos, em parte de barro de oleiro, e em parte de ferro, isso será um reino dividido; contudo haverá nele alguma coisa da firmeza do ferro, porquanto viste o ferro misturado com barro de lodo.
And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes part of potter's clay and part of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42 E os dedos dos pés, em parte de ferro e em parte de barro, querem dizer: por uma parte o reino será forte, e por outra será frágil.
And as the toes of the feet were part of iron and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly broken.
43 Quanto ao que viste do ferro misturado com barro de lodo, misturar-se-ão com semente humana, mas não se apegarão um ao outro, assim como o ferro se não mistura com o barro.
And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves by marriage, but they shall not cleave to each other, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
44 Mas, nos dias destes reis, o Deus do céu levantará um reino que não será jamais destruído; e este reino não será deixado a outro povo: esmiuçará e consumirá todos estes reinos, mas ele mesmo estará estabelecido para sempre.
But in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall be left to no other people but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever;
45 Da maneira que viste que do monte foi cortada uma pedra, sem mãos, e ela esmiuçou o ferro, o cobre, o barro, a prata e o ouro, o Deus grande fez saber ao rei o que há de ser depois disto; e certo é o sonho, e fiel a sua interpretação.
even as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold. The great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter; and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
46 Então o rei Nabucodonozor caiu sobre o seu rosto, e adorou a Daniel, e ordenou que lhe sacrificassem oferta de manjares e perfumes suaves.
Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odors to him.
47 Respondeu o rei a Daniel, e disse: Certo é que o vosso Deus é Deus de deuses, e o Senhor dos reis, e o revelador dos segredos, pois pudeste revelar este segredo.
The king answered Daniel and said, Of a truth, your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and the revealer of secrets, since thou couldst reveal this secret.
48 Então o rei engrandeceu a Daniel, e lhe deu muitos e grandes dons, e o pôs por governador de toda a província de Babilônia, como também por príncipe dos prefeitos sobre todos os sábios de Babilônia.
Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.
49 E pediu Daniel ao rei, e constituiu ele sobre os negócios da província de Babilônia a Sadrach, Mesach e Abed-nego; porém Daniel estava à porta do rei.
Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon; but Daniel was in the gate of the king.
