Daniel 10
1 No ano terceiro de Cyro, rei da Pérsia, foi revelada uma palavra a Daniel, cujo nome se chama Belteshazzar; e a palavra é verdadeira, porém trata de uma guerra prolongada, e entendeu esta palavra, e tinha entendimento da visão.
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a message was revealed to Daniel, who was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, and it concerned a great conflict. And the understanding of the message was given to him in a vision.
2 Naqueles dias eu, Daniel, me entristeci três semanas de dias.
In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three full weeks.
3 Manjar desejável não comi, nem carne nem vinho entrou na minha boca, nem me untei com unguênto, até que se cumpriram as três semanas de dias.
I ate no rich food, no meat or wine entered my mouth, and I did not anoint myself with oil until the three weeks were completed.
4 E no dia vinte e quatro do primeiro mês eu estava na borda do grande rio Hiddekel;
On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris,
5 E levantei os meus olhos, e olhei, e eis um homem vestido de linho, e os seus lombos cingidos com ouro fino d'Uphaz:
I lifted up my eyes, and behold, there was a certain man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist.
6 E o seu corpo era como turqueza, e o seu rosto parecia um relâmpago, e os seus olhos como tochas de fogo, e os seus braços e os seus pés como de cor de bronze açacalado; e a voz das suas palavras como a voz de uma multidão.
His body was like beryl, his face like the brilliance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of polished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.
7 E só eu, Daniel, vi aquela visão; mas os homens que estavam comigo não viram aquela visão: contudo caiu sobre eles um grande temor, e fugiram, escondendo-se.
Only I, Daniel, saw the vision; the men with me did not see it, but a great terror fell upon them, and they ran and hid themselves.
8 Fiquei pois eu só, e vi esta grande visão, e não ficou força em mim; e mudou-se em mim a minha formosura em desmaio, sem reter força alguma.
So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision. No strength remained in me; my face grew deathly pale, and I was powerless.
9 E ouvi a voz das suas palavras; e, ouvindo a voz das suas palavras, eu caí num profundo sono sobre o meu rosto, com o meu rosto em terra.
I heard the sound of his words, and as I listened, I fell into a deep sleep, with my face to the ground.
10 E eis que uma mão me tocou, e fez que me movesse sobre os meus joelhos e sobre as palmas das minhas mãos.
Suddenly, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees.
11 E me disse: Daniel, homem mui desejado, está atento às palavras que eu falarei contigo, e levanta-te sobre os teus pés; porque agora sou enviado a ti. E, falando ele comigo esta palavra, eu estava tremendo.
He said to me, “Daniel, you are a man who is highly precious. Consider carefully the words that I am about to say to you. Stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he had said this to me, I stood up trembling.
12 Então me disse: Não temas, Daniel, porque desde o primeiro dia em que aplicaste o teu coração a entender e a humilhar-te perante o teu Deus são ouvidas as tuas palavras; e eu vim por causa das tuas palavras.
“Do not be afraid, Daniel,” he said, “for from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.
13 Porém o príncipe do reino da Pérsia se pôs defronte de mim vinte e um dias, e eis que Michael, um dos primeiros príncipes, veio para ajudar-me, e eu fiquei ali com os reis da Pérsia.
However, the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.
14 Agora vim, para fazer-te entender o que há de acontecer ao teu povo nos derradeiros dias; porque a visão ainda está para muitos dias.
Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision concerns those days.”
15 E, falando ele comigo estas palavras, abaixei o meu rosto em terra, e emudeci.
While he was speaking these words to me, I set my face toward the ground and became speechless.
16 E eis aqui alguém, semelhante aos filhos dos homens, me tocou os lábios: então abri a minha boca, e falei, e disse àquele que estava diante de mim: Senhor meu, por causa da visão sobrevieram-me dores, e não me ficou força alguma.
And suddenly one with the likeness of a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and said to the one standing before me, “My lord, because of the vision, I am overcome with anguish, and I have no strength.
17 Como pois pode o servo deste meu Senhor falar com aquele meu Senhor? porque, quanto a mim, desde agora não resta força em mim, e não ficou em mim fôlego.
How can I, your servant, speak with you, my lord? Now I have no strength, nor is any breath left in me.”
18 E alguém, que tinha aparência dum homem, me tocou outra vez, e me confortou.
Again the one with the likeness of a man touched me and strengthened me.
19 E disse: Não temas, homem mui desejado, paz seja contigo; esforça-te, sim, esforça-te. E, falando ele comigo, esforcei-me, e disse: fala, meu Senhor, porque me confortaste.
“Do not be afraid, you who are highly precious,” he said. “Peace be with you! Be strong now; be very strong!” As he spoke with me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, for you have strengthened me.”
20 E disse: Sabes porque eu vim a ti? agora, pois, tornarei a pelejar contra o príncipe dos persas; e, saindo eu, eis que virá o príncipe da Grécia.
“Do you know why I have come to you?” he said. “I must return at once to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I have gone forth, behold, the prince of Greece will come.
21 Porém eu te declararei o que está escrito na escritura da verdade; e ninguém há que se esforce comigo contra aqueles, senão Michael, vosso príncipe.
But first I will tell you what is inscribed in the Book of Truth. Yet no one has the courage to support me against these, except Michael your prince.
