Amós 3
1 Ouvi esta palavra que o Senhor fala contra vós, filhos de Israel, a saber, contra toda a geração que fiz subir da terra do Egito, dizendo:
Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying:
2 De todas as gerações da terra a vós vos conheci só; portanto, todas as vossas injustiças visitarei sobre vós.
You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will visit upon you all your iniquities.
3 Porventura andarão dois juntos, se não estiverem de concerto?
Will two walk together, except they have agreed?
4 Bramará o leão no bosque, sem que ele tenha preza? levantará o leãozinho a sua voz da sua cova, se nada tiver apanhado?
Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? Will a young lion give forth his voice out of his den, if he have taken nothing?
5 Cairá a ave no laço em terra, se não houver laço para ela? levantar-se-a o laço da terra, sem que tenha apanhado alguma coisa?
Will a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where there is no lure for it? Will a snare spring up from the ground, and have taken nothing at all?
6 Tocar-se-á a buzina na cidade; e o povo não estremecerá? sucederá algum mal na cidade, o qual o Senhor não haja feito?
Shall the horn be blown in a city, and the people not tremble? Shall evil befall a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
7 Certamente o Senhor Jehovah não fará coisa alguma, sem ter revelado o seu segredo aos seus servos, os profetas.
For the Lord GOD will do nothing, but He revealeth His counsel unto His servants the prophets.
8 Bramou o leão, quem não temerá? falou o Senhor Jehovah, quem não prophetizará?
The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?
9 Fazei-o ouvir nos palácios de Asdod, e nos palácios da terra do Egito, e dizei: ajuntai-vos sobre os montes de Samaria, e vede os grandes alvoroços no meio dela, e os oprimidos dentro dela.
Proclaim it upon the palaces at Ashdod, and upon the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say: 'Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great confusions therein, and the oppressions in the midst thereof.'
10 Porque não sabem fazer o que é reto, diz o Senhor, entesourando nos seus palácios a violência e a destruição.
For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
11 Portanto, o Senhor Jehovah diz assim: O inimigo virá, e cercará a terra, derribará de ti a tua fortaleza, e os teus palácios serão saqueados.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: An adversary, even round about the land! And he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.
12 Assim diz o Senhor: Assim como o pastor livra da boca do leão as duas pernas, ou um pedacinho da orelha, assim serão livrados os filhos de Israel que habitam em Samaria, no canto da cama, e na barra do leito.
Thus saith the LORD: As the shepherd rescueth out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel that dwell in Samaria escape with the corner of a couch, and the leg of a bed.
13 Ouvi, e protestai na casa de Jacob, diz o Senhor Jehovah, o Deus dos exércitos:
Hear ye, and testify against the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts.
14 Naquele dia, em que eu visitar as transgressões de Israel sobre ele, também farei visitação sobre os altares de bethel; e os cornos do altar serão cortados, e cairão em terra.
For in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also punish the altars of Beth-el, and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.
15 E ferirei a casa de inverno com a casa de verão; e as casas de marfim perecerão, e as grandes casas terão fim, diz o Senhor.
And I will smite the winter-house with the summer-house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.
