Amós 2
1 Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões de Moab, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque queimou os ossos do rei de Edom, até os tornar em cal.
Thus says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Moab, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime.
2 Por isso porei fogo a Moab, e consumirá os palácios de Querioth: e Moab morrerá com grande estrondo, com alarido, com sonido de buzina.
But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth, and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
3 E exterminarei o juiz do meio dele, e a todos os seus príncipes com ele matarei, diz o Senhor.
And I will cut off the judge from the midst of it, and will kill all the rulers of it with him, says Jehovah.
4 Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões de Judá, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque rejeitaram a lei do Senhor, e não guardaram os seus estatutos, e as suas mentiras os enganaram, após as quais andaram seus pais.
Thus says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they have rejected the law of Jehovah, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, according to which their fathers walked.
5 Por isso porei fogo a Judá, e consumirá os palácios de Jerusalém.
But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
6 Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões de Israel, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque vendem o justo por dinheiro, e o necessitado por um par de sapatos,
Thus says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they have sold a righteous man for silver, and a needy man for a pair of shoes-
7 Suspirando pelo pó da terra sobre a cabeça dos pobres, e pervertem o caminho dos mansos; e o homem e seu pai entram a uma mesma moça, para profanarem o meu santo nome.
those who pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek. And a man and his father go to the same maiden, to profane my holy name.
8 E se deitam junto a qualquer altar sobre as roupas empenhadas, e bebem o vinho dos multados na casa de seus deuses.
And they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes taken in pledge. And in the house of their God they drink the wine of such as have been fined.
9 Não obstante eu ter destruído o amorreu diante deles, cuja altura foi como a altura dos cedros, e foi forte como os carvalhos; mas destruí o seu fruto por cima, e as suas raízes por baixo.
Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks, yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
10 Também vos fiz subir da terra do Egito, e quarenta anos vos guiei no deserto, para que possuisseis a terra do amorreu.
Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
11 E a alguns dentre vossos filhos suscitei para profetas, e alguns dentre os vossos mancebos para nazireus; e não é isto assim, filhos de Israel? diz o Senhor.
And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye sons of Israel? says Jehovah.
12 Mas vós aos nazireus destes vinho a beber, e aos profetas mandastes, dizendo: Não profetizareis.
But ye gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Do not Prophesy.
13 Eis que eu vos apertarei no vosso lugar como se aperta um carro cheio de manolhos.
Behold, I will press you in your place, as a cart presses that is full of sheaves.
14 Assim que perecerá a fugida ao ligeiro; nem o forte corroborará a sua força, nem o valente livrará a sua vida.
And flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, nor shall the mighty deliver himself.
15 E não ficará em pé o que leva o arco, nem o ligeiro de pés se livrará, nem tão pouco o que vai montado a cavalo livrará a sua alma.
Neither shall he stand who handles the bow. And he who is swift of foot shall not deliver himself, nor shall he who rides the horse deliver himself.
16 E o mais animoso entre os valentes fugirá nu naquele dia, disse o Senhor.
And he who is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, says Jehovah.
