Atos 24
1 E cinco dias depois o sumo sacerdote Ananias desceu com os anciãos, e um certo Tertulo, orador, os quais compareceram perante o presidente contra Paulo.
AND after five days Hanania the great priest came down with the elders, and with Tartelos a rhetor, and informed the governor against Paulos.
2 E, sendo citado, Tertulo começou a accusa-lo, dizendo:
And being called, Tartelos came forth to accuse him, and said, For many years have we dwelt (in peace) through thee, and many reformations have been made for this people in the bearing of thy office;
3 Que por ti tenhamos tanta paz e que, por tua prudência, a este povo se façam muitos e louvaveis serviços, sempre e em todo o lugar, ó potentíssimo Felix, com todo o agradecimento o reconhecemos.
and all we in every place receive thy bounty, victorious Felix.
4 Porém, para que te não detenha muito, rogo-te que brevemente, conforme a tua equidade, nos ouças:
But, not to weary thee with many (words), I pray thee to hear our humbleness with brevity.
5 Porque temos achado que este homem é uma peste, e levantador de sedições entre todos os judeus, por todo o mundo; e o principal defensor da seita dos nazarenos;
For we have found this man to be a destroyer, and an exciter of agitation among all the Jihudoyee, and in all the land: for he is a chief of the doctrine of the Natsroyee,
6 O qual intentou também profanar o templo: ao qual também prendemos, e conforme a nossa lei o quizemos julgar.
and he willed to pollute our temple; and having apprehended him, we sought to judge him according to our law;
7 Porém, sobrevindo o tribuno Lysias, no-lo tirou dentre as mãos com grande violência:
but Lusios the tribune came, and with great force transferred him from our hands,
8 Mandando aos seus acusadores que viessem a ti: do qual tu mesmo, examinando-o, poderás entender tudo o de que o acusamos.
and hath sent him unto thee, and commanded his accusers to come to thee; and thou canst by questioning him learn from him concerning all these things of which we accuse him.
9 E também os judeus consentiram, dizendo serem estas coisas assim.
The Jihudoyee themselves also contended against him, saying, that so these things were.
10 Porém Paulo, fazendo-lhe o presidente sinal que falasse, respondeu: Porque sei que já vai para muitos anos que desta nação és juiz, com tanto melhor ânimo respondo por mim.
And the governor signed to Paulos to speak. And Paulos answered, and said, For many years I know that thou hast been the judge of this people, and on this account I joyfully make defence for myself;
11 Pois bem podes entender que não há mais de doze dias que subi a Jerusalém a adorar;
while thou shouldst know that it hath not been more than twelve days since I went up to Urishlem to worship.
12 E não me acharam no templo falando com alguém, nem amotinando o povo nas sinagogas, nem na cidade.
Neither found they me speaking with any man in the temple, neither have I gathered an assembly in their synagogue nor in the city;
13 Nem tão pouco podem provar as coisas de que agora me acusam.
nor is it in their power to demonstrate before thee any thing of what they accuse me.
14 Porém confesso-te isto: que, conforme aquele caminho que chamam seita, assim sirvo ao Deus de nossos pais, crendo tudo quanto está escrito na lei e nos profetas.
Nevertheless, this do I confess, that in that very doctrine of which they speak, in it serve I the God of my fathers, believing in all that is written in the law and in the prophets,
15 Tendo esperança em Deus, como estes mesmos também, esperam, de que há de haver ressurreição de mortos, assim dos justos como dos injustos.
and having hope in Aloha that which they also hope: that there shall be a resurrection from the house of the dead, of the just and of the evil.
16 E por isso procuro sempre ter uma consciência sem ofensa, tanto para com Deus como para com os homens.
Because of this also I labour to have a good conscience before Aloha and before men, continually.
17 Porém, muitos anos depois, vim trazer à minha nação esmolas e ofertas.
But after many years I came to the sons of my people to bestow alms, and to present an oblation.
18 Nisto me acharam já santificado no templo, não com gente, nem com alvoroços, uns certos judeus da Asia,
And these found me in the temple being purified, not with a concourse nor with tumult; but men Jihudoyee who had come from Asia raised a tumult;
19 Os quais convinha que estivessem presentes perante ti, e me acusassem, se alguma coisa contra mim tivessem.
(and) these it behoved to stand with me before thee, and to accuse of that whatever they have (against me).
20 Ou digam estes mesmos, se acharam em mim alguma iniquidade, quando compareci perante o conselho.
Or let these themselves declare, what crime they found in me, when I stood before their assembly,
21 Senão só estas palavras, que estando entre eles, clamei: Hoje sou julgado por vós acerca da ressurreição dos mortos.
unless for this one word which I proclaimed while standing in the midst of them, For the resurrection of the dead am I judged this day before you.
22 Então Felix, havendo ouvido estas coisas, lhes pôs delação, dizendo: Havendo-me informado melhor deste caminho, quando o tribuno Lysias tiver descido, então tomarei inteiro conhecimento dos vossos negócios.
But Felix, because he knew this way fully, delayed them, saying, When the tribune comes I will hear between you.
23 E mandou ao centurião que guardassem a Paulo, e estivesse com alguma liberdade, e que a ninguém dos seus proibisse servi-lo ou vir ter com ele.
And he commanded the centurion to keep Paulos in quietude, and that none of his acquaintances should be hindered from ministering to him.
24 E alguns dias depois, vindo Felix com sua mulher Drusila, que era judia, mandou chamar a Paulo, e ouviu-o acerca da fé em Cristo.
And after a few days Felix, and Drusilla his wife, who was a Jihudoytha, sent and called Paulos, and they heard from him concerning the faith of the Meshiha.
25 E, tratando ele da justiça, e da temperança, e do juízo vindouro, Felix, espavorido, respondeu: Por agora vai-te, e em tendo oportunidade te chamarei.
And as he discoursed with them of righteousness, and of holiness, and of the judgment which is to come, Felix was filled with fear, and he said, Now go, and when I have opportunity I will send for thee.
26 Esperando também juntamente que Paulo lhe desse dinheiro, para que o soltasse; pelo que também muitas vezes o mandava chamar, e falava com ele.
For he hoped that a bribe would be given him by Paulos, and on this account he continually sent to bring him, and to speak with him.
27 Porém, cumpridos dois anos, Felix teve por sucessor a Porcio Festo; e, querendo Felix comprazer aos judeus, deixou a Paulo preso.
And when two years were fulfilled to him, another governor came in his place, who was called Porcios Festos. But Felix, as to do a favour to the Jihudoyee, left Paulos bound.
