2 Tessalonicenses 1

1 Paulo, e Silvano, e Timotheo, à igreja dos tessalonicenses, em Deus nosso Pai e no Senhor Jesus Cristo:

This letter comes from Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to the church of the Thessalonians who belong to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Graça e paz de Deus nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.

May you have grace and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Sempre devemos, irmãos, dar graças a Deus por vós, como é de razão, porquanto a vossa fé cresce muitíssimo e a caridade de cada um de vós abunda de uns para com os outros

We keep on thanking God for you, brothers and sisters—we just have to! This is the right thing to do because your trust in God is growing in leaps and bounds, and the love you all have for each other increases more and more.

4 De maneira que nós mesmos nos glóriamos de vós nas igrejas de Deus por causa da vossa paciência e fé, e em todas as vossas perseguições e aflições que suportais;

We speak so proudly of you among the churches of God because of your patient courage and trust in God during all the persecution and trouble you're going through.

5 Prova clara do justo juízo de Deus, para que sejais havidos por dignos do reino de Deus, pelo qual também padeceis;

For this is evidence that God is right in the decisions he makes, and that you deserve the kingdom of God for which you are suffering.

6 Pois é justo diante de Deus que dê em paga tribulação aos que vos atribulam,

Since God does what's right he will deal appropriately with those who cause you trouble.

7 E a vós, que sois atribulados, descanço conosco, quando se manifestar o Senhor Jesus desde o céu com os anjos do seu poder:

He will free you from your suffering—and us too—when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels,

8 Como labareda de fogo, tomando vingança dos que não conhecem a Deus e dos que não obedecem ao evangelho de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo:

bringing judgment on those who reject God and refuse to accept the good news of our Lord Jesus.

9 Os quais por castigo, padecerão eterna perdição, ante a face do Senhor e a glória do seu poder, (aiōnios g166)

They will rightly experience the consequence of eternal loss, separated from the presence of the Lord and his glorious power, (aiōnios g166)

10 Quando vier para ser glorificado nos seus santos, e a fazer-se admirável naquele dia em todos os que crêem (porquanto o nosso testemunho foi crido entre vós).

on the day when he comes to receive glory from his people, admired by all those who trust in him. This includes you because you were convinced about what we told you.

11 Pelo que também rogamos sempre por vós, para que o nosso Deus vos faça dignos da sua vocação, e cumpra todo o desejo da sua bondade, e a obra da fé com poder;

That's why we continue to pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of what he's called us to do. May God powerfully fulfill every desire you have to do good and every action that comes from trusting him

12 Para que o nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja em vós glorificado, e vós nele, segundo a graça de nosso Deus e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.

so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be honored by what you do—and in turn you are honored by him through the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
