2 Reis 9
1 Então o profeta Eliseo chamou um dos filhos dos profetas, e lhe disse: Cinge os teus lombos, e toma esta almotolia de azeite na tua mão, e vai-te a Ramoth de Gilead;
Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets and told him, “Put your cloak into your belt, take this flask of olive oil, and go to Ramoth-gilead.
2 E, chegando lá, vê onde está Jehu, filho de Josaphat, filho de Nimsi: e entra, e faze que ele se levante do meio de seus irmãos, e leva-o à câmara interior.
Once you get there, look for Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi. Go in, get him away from his companions, and take him to an inner room. Get him to leave his friends, lead him to a private room,
3 E toma a almotolia de azeite, e derrama-o sobre a sua cabeça, e dize: Assim diz o Senhor: Ungi-te rei sobre Israel. Então abre a porta, e foge, e não te detenhas.
take the flask of olive oil, and pour it on his head. Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king of Israel.’ Then open the door and run away! Don't wait around!”
4 Foi pois o mancebo, o jovem profeta, a Ramoth de Gilead.
So the young prophet went to Ramoth-gilead.
5 E, entrando ele, eis que os capitães do exército estavam assentados ali; e disse: Capitão, tenho uma palavra que te dizer. E disse Jehu: A qual de todos nós? E disse: A ti, capitão!
When he arrived, he saw the army commanders sitting around. “I've got a message for you, commander,” he said. “For which one of us?” Jehu asked. “For you, commander,” he replied.
6 Então se levantou, e entrou na casa, e derramou o azeite sobre a sua cabeça, e lhe disse: Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Ungi-te rei sobre o povo do Senhor, sobre Israel.
Jehu got up and went inside, where the young prophet poured the olive oil on his head and announced to him, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anoint you king over the Lord's people Israel.
7 E ferirás a casa de Achab, teu senhor, para que eu vingue o sangue de meus servos, os profetas, e o sangue de todos os servos do Senhor da mão de Jezabel.
You are going to destroy the family of Ahab, your master. You will avenge the blood my prophets and the blood of all the Lord's servants killed by Jezebel.
8 E toda a casa de Achab perecerá; e destruirei d'Achab todo o varão, tanto o encerrado como o desamparado em Israel.
The whole house of Ahab will be eradicated—I will destroy all the males of Ahab's family in Israel, both slave and free.
9 Porque à casa d'Achab hei de fazer como à casa de Jeroboão, filho de Nebat, e como à casa de Baása, filho d'Ahias.
I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam, son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha, son of Ahijah.
10 E os cães comerão a Jezabel no pedaço de campo de Jizreel; não haverá quem a enterre. Então abriu a porta, e fugiu
Dogs will eat Jezebel, Ahab's wife, at the plot of ground in Jezreel, and no one will bury her.” Then the young prophet opened the door and ran away.
11 E, saindo Jehu aos servos do seu senhor, disseram-lhe: vai tudo bem? porque veio a ti este louco? E ele lhes disse: Bem conheceis o homem e o seu falar.
When Jehu went back out to the other officers of his master, they asked him, “Is everything fine? Why did this crazy man come to you?” “You know what he's like, and how he goes on and on,” he replied.
12 Mas eles disseram: É mentira; agora faze-no-lo saber. E disse: Assim e assim me falou, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor: Ungi-te rei sobre Israel.
“Liar!” they said. “Please tell us what's going on.” “Well, he talked to me about this and that, and he told me, ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel.’”
13 Então se apressaram, e tomou cada um o seu vestido, e o pôs debaixo dele, no mais alto degrau: e tocaram a buzina, e disseram: Jehu reina!
They quickly grabbed their cloaks and spread them on the bare steps. They blew the trumpet and shouted, “Jehu is king!”
14 Assim Jehu, filho de Josaphat, filho de Nimsi, conspirou contra Jorão. Tinha porém Jorão cercado a Ramoth de Gilead, ele e todo o Israel, por causa de Hazael, rei da Síria.
So Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, plotted rebellion against Joram. Joram and the whole Israelite army had been defending Ramoth-Gilead against Hazael, king of Aram.
15 Porém o rei Jorão voltou para se curar em Jizreel das feridas que os siros lhe fizeram, quando pelejou contra Hazael, rei da Síria. E disse Jehu: Se é da vossa vontade, ninguém saia da cidade, nem escape, para ir denunciar isto em Jizreel.
But Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds he'd received fighting against Hazael, king of Aram. So Jehu said, “If you commanders want to make me king, don't let anyone leave town and go and announce it in Jezreel.”
16 Então Jehu subiu a um carro, e foi-se a Jizreel, porque Jorão estava deitado ali: e também Achazias, rei de Judá, descera para ver a Jorão.
Jehu got on his chariot and went to Jezreel, for Joram was recuperating there. Ahaziah, king of Judah, was there too because he had come to visit Joram.
17 E o atalaia estava na torre de Jizreel, e viu a tropa de Jehu, que vinha, e disse: Vejo uma tropa. Então disse Jorão: Toma um cavaleiro, e envia-lho ao encontro; e diga: há paz?
The watchman on the tower in Jezreel saw Jehu's soldiers approaching, and he shouted out, “I see a soldiers coming!” “Choose a horseman,” Joram ordered. “Send him out to meet them and ask, ‘Do you come in peace?’”
18 E o cavaleiro lhe foi ao encontro, e disse: Assim diz o rei: há paz? E disse Jehu: Que tens tu que fazer com a paz? Vira-te para traz de mim. E o atalaia o fez saber, dizendo: Chegou a eles o mensageiro, porém não volta.
So a horseman rode off to meet Jehu, and said, “This is what the king asks: ‘Do you come in peace?’” “What has peace got to do with you?” Jehu replied. “Turn around and follow me.” The watchman reported, “The messenger has reached them, but he's not returning.”
19 Então enviou outro cavaleiro; e, chegando este a eles, disse: Assim diz o rei: há paz? E disse Jehu: Que tens tu que fazer com a paz? Vira-te para traz de mim.
The king sent out a second horseman. He went up to them and said, “This is what the king asks: ‘Do you come in peace?’” “What has peace got to do with you?” Jehu replied. “Turn around and follow me.”
20 E o atalaia o fez saber, dizendo: também este chegou a eles, porém não volta; e o andar parece como o andar de Jehu, filho de Nimsi, porque anda furiosamente.
The watchman reported, “The messenger has reached them, but he's not returning. The driving looks like the driving of Jehu, son of Nimshi—he's a crazy driver!”
21 Então disse Jorão: aparelha o carro. E aparelharam o seu carro. E saiu Jorão, rei de Israel, e Achazias, rei de Judá, cada um em seu carro, e sairam ao encontro a Jehu, e o acharam no pedaço de campo de Naboth, o jizreelita.
“Prepare my chariot!” Joram shouted, and they had his chariot ready. Then Joram, king of Israel, and Ahaziah, king of Judah, set off in their separate chariots, and met Jehu on the plot of ground that was previously owned by Naboth from Jezreel.
22 E sucedeu que, vendo Jorão a Jehu, disse: há paz, Jehu? E disse ele: Que paz, enquanto as fornicações da tua mãe Jezabel e as suas feitiçarias são tantas?
When Joram saw Jehu, he asked him, “Do you come in peace, Jehu?” “What peace can there be with so much prostitution and witchcraft caused by your mother Jezebel?” Jehu replied.
23 Então Jorão voltou as mãos, e fugiu; e disse a Achazias: Traição há, Achazias.
Joram turned around and raced away, shouting out to Ahaziah, “It's treason, Ahaziah!”
24 Mas Jehu entesou o seu arco com toda a força, e feriu a Jorão entre os braços, e a flecha lhe saiu pelo coração; e se encurvou no seu carro.
Jehu picked up his bow and shot Joram between the shoulders. The arrow went through his heart and he collapsed dead in his chariot.
25 Então Jehu disse a Bidkar, seu capitão: Toma-o, lança-o no pedaço do campo de Naboth, o jizreelita; porque, lembra-te de que, indo eu e tu juntos a cavalo após seu pai, Achab, o Senhor pôs sobre ele esta carga, dizendo:
Jehu said to Bidkar his officer, “Pick him up and throw him into the field of Naboth from Jezreel. Remember when you and I were riding together behind his father Ahab how the Lord made this prophecy against him:
26 Por certo que se eu não visse ontem à tarde o sangue de Naboth e o sangue de seus filhos, diz o Senhor, também não to pagaria neste pedaço de campo, diz o Senhor. Agora, pois, toma-o, e lança-o neste pedaço de campo, conforme a palavra do Senhor.
‘In the same way as I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons yesterday, says the Lord, so I will certainly repay you on this same plot of ground, says the Lord.’ Now then, following what the Lord has said, pick him up and throw him on the plot of ground.”
27 O que vendo Achazias, rei de Judá, fugiu pelo caminho da casa do jardim, porém Jehu seguiu após ele, e disse: também feri a este no carro à subida de Gur, que está junto a Jibleam. E fugiu a Megiddo, e morreu ali
When Ahaziah, king of Judah, saw what happened, he raced up the road toward Beth-haggan. But Jehu chased after him, shouting, “Shoot him too!” So they shot Ahaziah in his chariot on the way up to Gur, near Ibleam. He managed to escape to Megiddo but he died there.
28 E seus servos o levaram num carro a Jerusalém, e o sepultaram na sua sepultura junto a seus pais, na cidade de David.
His servants took him by chariot to Jerusalem and buried him with his forefathers in his tomb in the City of David.
29 (E no ano undécimo de Jorão, filho d'Achab, começou Achazias a reinar sobre Judah.)
Ahaziah became king of Judah in the eleventh year of the reign of Joram, son of Ahab.
30 E Jehu veio a Jizreel, o que ouvindo Jezabel, se pintou em volta dos olhos, e enfeitou a sua cabeça, e olhou pela janela.
When Jezebel heard that Jehu had arrived in Jezreel, she put on her black eye-shadow, placed jewelry in her hair, and watched from a window.
31 E, entrando Jehu pelas portas, disse ela: Teve paz Zimri, que matou a seu senhor?
As Jehu came in through the gate, she shouted down, “Do you come in peace? Or are you like Zimri, a murderer of your master?”
32 E levantou ele o rosto para a janela e disse: Quem é comigo? quem? E dois ou três eunucos olharam para ele.
Jehu looked up at the window and shouted out, “Who is on my side? Anyone?” Two or three eunuchs looked down at him.
33 Então disse ele: lançai-a do alto abaixo. E lançaram-a do alto abaixo: e foram salpicados com o seu sangue a parede e os cavalos, e ele a atropelou.
“Throw her down!” he shouted. And they threw her down. Her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses which then trampled her.
34 Entrando ele pois, e havendo comido e bebido, disse: olhai por aquela maldita, e sepultai-a, porque é filha de rei.
Jehu went inside and ate and drank. Then he said, “Please deal with that cursed woman and bury her, for she was a king's daughter.”
35 E foram para a sepultar; porém não acharam dela senão somente a caveira, e os pés, e as palmas das mãos
They went out to bury her but all they found were her skull, her feet, and her hands.
36 Então voltaram, e lho fizeram saber; e ele disse: Esta é a palavra do Senhor, a qual falou pelo ministério de Elias, o tesbita, seu servo, dizendo: No pedaço do campo de Jizreel os cães comerão a carne de Jezabel.
They went back and told Jehu, who said, “This is what the Lord said through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: ‘Dogs will eat Jezebel's flesh on the plot of ground at Jezreel.
37 E o cadáver de Jezabel será como esterco sobre o campo, no pedaço de Jizreel: que se não possa dizer: Esta é Jezabel.
Jezebel's body will lie like manure in the field on the plot of ground at Jezreel, so that no one can say: This is where Jezebel is buried.’”
