2 Reis 19
1 E aconteceu que Ezequias, tendo-o ouvido, rasgou os seus vestidos, e se cubriu de saco, e entrou na casa do Senhor.
And it came to pass when king Ezekias heard it, that he tore his clothes, and put on sackcloth, an went into the house of the Lord.
2 Então enviou a Eliakim, o mordomo, e a Sebna, o escrivão, e os anciãos dos sacerdotes, cobertos de sacos, ao profeta Isaias, filho de Amós.
And he sent Heliakim the steward, and Somnas the scribe, and the elders of the priests, clothed with sackcloth, to Esaias the prophet the son of Amos.
3 E disseram-lhe: Assim diz Ezequias: Este dia é dia de angústia, e de vituperação, e de blasfêmia; porque os filhos chegaram ao parto, e não há força para parir.
And they said to him, Thus says Ezekias, This day [is] a day of tribulation, and rebuke, and provocation: for the children are come to the travail-[pangs], but the mother has no strength.
4 Bem pode ser que o Senhor teu Deus ouça todas as palavras de Rabsaké, a quem enviou o seu senhor, o rei da Assyria, para afrontar o Deus vivo, e para vitupera-lo com as palavras que o Senhor teu Deus tem ouvido: faze pois oração pelo resto que se acha.
Peradventure the Lord your God will hear all the words of Rapsakes, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God and to revile him with the words which the Lord your God has heard: and you shall offer [your] prayer for the remnant that is found.
5 E os servos do rei Ezequias vieram a Isaias.
So the servants of king Ezekias came to Esaias.
6 E Isaias lhes disse: Assim direis a vosso senhor: Assim diz o Senhor: Não temas as palavras que ouviste, com as quais os servos do rei da Assyria me blasfemaram.
And Esaias said to them, Thus shall you say to your master, Thus says the Lord, Be not afraid of the words which you have heard, wherewith the servants of the king of the Assyrians have blasphemed.
7 Eis que meterei nele um espírito, e ele ouvirá um arroido, e voltará para a sua terra: à espada o farei cair na sua terra.
Behold, I send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a report, and shall return to his own land; and I will overthrow him with the sword in his own land.
8 Voltou pois Rabsaké, e achou o rei da Assyria pelejando contra Libna, porque tinha ouvido que se havia partido de Lachis.
So Rapsakes returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Lobna: for he heard that he [had] departed from Lachis.
9 E, ouvindo ele dizer de Tirhaká, rei de Cus: Eis que há saído para te fazer guerra; tornou a enviar mensageiros a Ezequias, dizendo:
And he heard concerning Tharaca king of the Ethiopians, saying, Behold, he is come forth to fight with you: and he returned, and sent messengers to Ezekias, saying,
10 Assim falareis a Ezequias, rei de Judá, dizendo: Não te engane o teu Deus, em quem confias, dizendo: Jerusalém não será entregue na mão do rei d'Assyria.
Let not your God on whom you trust encourage you, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hands of the king of the Assyrians.
11 Eis que já tens ouvido o que fizeram os reis da Assyria a todas as terras, destruindo-as totalmente, e tu te livrarás?
Behold, you have heard all that the kings of the Assyrians have done in all the lands, to waste them utterly: and shall you be delivered?
12 Porventura as livraram os deuses das nações, a quem destruiram, como a Gozan e a Haran? e a Reseph, e aos filhos de Éden, que estavam em Telassar?
Have the gods of the nations at all delivered them, whom my fathers destroyed; both Gozan, and Charran, and Raphis, and the sons of Edem who were in Thaesthen?
13 Que é feito do rei de Hamath, e do rei de Arpad, e do rei da cidade de Sepharvaim, Hena e Iva?
Where is the king of Haemath, and the king of Arphad? and where is the king of the city of Seppharvaim, of Ana, and Aba?
14 Recebendo pois Ezequias as cartas das mãos dos mensageiros, e lendo-as, subiu à casa do Senhor, e Ezequias as estendeu perante o Senhor.
And Ezekias took the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and he went up to the house of the Lord, and Ezekias spread it before the Lord,
15 E orou Ezequias perante o Senhor, e disse: Ó Senhor Deus de Israel, que habitas entre os cherubins, tu mesmo, só tu és Deus de todos os reinos da terra: tu fizeste os céus e a terra.
and said, O Lord God of Israel that dwell over the cherubs, you are the only god in all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.
16 Inclina, Senhor, o teu ouvido, e ouve; abre, Senhor, os teus olhos, e olha: e ouve as palavras de Sanherib, que enviou a este, para afrontar o Deus vivo.
Incline your ear, O Lord, and hear: open, Lord, your eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherim, which he has sent to reproach the living God.
17 Verdade é, ó Senhor, que os reis da Assyria assolaram as nações e as suas terras,
For truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have wasted the nations,
18 E lançaram os seus deuses no fogo; porquanto deuses não eram, mas obra de mãos de homens, madeira e pedra; por isso os destruiram.
and have cast their gods into the fire: because they are no gods, but the works of men's hands, wood and stone; and they have destroyed them.
19 Agora pois, ó Senhor nosso Deus, sê servido de nos livrar da sua mão: e assim saberão todos os reinos da terra que só tu és o Senhor Deus.
And now, O Lord our God, deliver us out of his hand, and all the kingdoms of the earth shall know that you alone [are] the Lord God.
20 Então Isaias, filho de Amós, mandou dizer a Ezequias: Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: O que me pediste acerca de Sanherib, rei da Assyria, ouvi.
And Esaias the son of Amos sent to Ezekias, saying, Thus says the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, I have heard your prayer to me concerning Sennacherim king of the Assyrians.
21 Esta é a palavra que o Senhor falou dele: A virgem, a filha de Sião, te despreza, de ti zomba; a filha de Jerusalém menea a cabeça por detraz de ti
This [is] the word which the Lord has spoken against him; The virgin daughter of Sion has made light of you, and mocked you; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.
22 A quem afrontaste e blasfemaste? E contra quem alçaste a voz, e ergueste os teus olhos ao alto? Contra o Santo de Israel?
Whom have you reproached, and whom have you reviled? and against whom have you lifted up your voice, and raised your eyes on high? [Is it] against the Holy One of Israel?
23 Por meio de teus mensageiros afrontaste o Senhor, e disseste: Com a multidão de meus carros subo eu ao alto dos montes, aos lados do líbano, e cortarei os seus altos cedros, e as suas mais formosas faias, e entrarei nas suas pousadas extremas, até no bosque do seu campo fértil.
By your messengers you has reproached the Lord, and have said, I will go up with the multitude of my chariots, to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Libanus, and I have cut down the height of his cedar, [and] his choice cypresses; and I have come into the midst of the forest and of Carmel.
24 Eu cavei, e bebi águas estranhas; e com as plantas de meus pés sequei todos os rios dos lugares fortes.
I have refreshed [myself], and have drunk strange waters, and I have dried up with the sole of my foot all the rivers of fortified places.
25 Porventura não ouviste que já de antes fiz isto, e já desde os dias antigos o formei? agora porém o fiz vir, para que fosses tu que reduzisses as cidades fortes a montões desertos.
I have brought about [the matter], I have brought it to a conclusion; and it is come to the destruction of the bands of warlike prisoners, [even of] strong cities.
26 Por isso os moradores delas, com as mãos encolhidas, ficaram pasmados e confundidos: eram como a erva do campo, e a hortaliça verde, e o feno dos telhados, e o trigo queimado, antes que se levante.
And they that lived in them were weak in hand, they quaked and were confounded, they became [as] grass of the field, or [as] the green herb, the grass [growing on] houses, and that which is trodden down by him that stands [upon it].
27 Porém o teu assentar, e o teu sair, e o teu entrar, eu o sei, e o teu furor contra mim.
But I know your down-sitting, and your going forth, and your rage against me.
28 Por causa do teu furor contra mim, e porque a tua revolta subiu aos meus ouvidos; portanto porei o meu anzol no teu nariz, e o meu freio nos teus beiços, e te farei voltar pelo caminho por onde vieste.
Because you was angry against me, and your fierceness is come up into my ears, therefore will I put my hooks in your nostrils, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.
29 E isto te será por sinal: este ano se comerá o que nascer por si mesmo, e no ano seguinte o que daí proceder; porém o terceiro ano semeai e segai, e plantai vinhas, e comei os seus frutos.
And this shall be a sign to you; eat this year the things that grow of themselves, and in the second year the things which spring up: and in the third year [let there be] sowing, and reaping, and planting of vineyards, and eat you the fruit of them.
30 Porque o que escapou da casa de Judá, e ficou de resto, tornará a lançar raízes para baixo, e dará fruto para cima.
And he shall increase him that has escaped of the house of Juda: and the remnant [shall strike] root beneath, and it shall produce fruit above.
31 Porque de Jerusalém sairá o restante, e do monte de Sião o que escapou: o zelo do Senhor fará isto.
For from Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and he that escapes from the mountain of Sion: the zeal of the Lord of host shall do this.
32 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor acerca do rei d'Assyria: Não entrará nesta cidade, nem lançará nela flecha alguma: tão pouco virá perante ela com escudo, nem levantará contra ela tranqueira alguma.
[Is it] not so? Thus says the Lord concerning the king of the Assyrians, He shall not enter into this city, and he shall not shoot an arrow there, neither shall a shield come against it, neither shall he heap a mound against it.
33 Pelo caminho por onde vier por ele voltará; porém nesta cidade não entrará, diz o Senhor.
By the way by which he comes, by it shall he return, and he shall not enter into this city, says the Lord.
34 Porque eu ampararei a esta cidade, para a livrar, por amor de mim e por amor do meu servo David.
And I will defend this city as with a shield, for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
35 Sucedeu pois que naquela mesma noite saiu o anjo do Senhor, e feriu no arraial dos assyrios a cento e oitenta e cinco mil deles; e, levantando-se pela manhã cedo, eis que todos eram corpos mortos.
And it came to pass at night that the angel of the Lord went forth, an struck in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand: and they rose early in the morning, and, behold, [these were] all dead corpses.
36 Então Sanherib, rei d'Assyria, partiu, e se foi, e voltou: e ficou em Nínive.
And Sennacherim king of the Assyrians departed, and went and returned, and lived in Nineve.
37 E sucedeu que, estando ele prostrado na casa de Nisroch, seu deus, Adram-melech e Sarezer, seus filhos, o feriram à espada; porém eles escaparam para a terra d'Ararat: e Esar-Haddon, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
And it came to pass, while he was worshipping in the house of Meserach his god, that Adramelech and Sarasar his sons struck him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Ararath; and Asordan his son reigned in his stead.
