2 Crônicas 32
1 Depois destas coisas e desta fidelidade, veio Sennaquerib, rei d'Assyria, e entrou em Judá, e acampou-se contra as cidades fortes, e intentou separa-las para si.
After these things and this truth, Sennacherib king of Asshur has come, indeed, he comes to Judah, and encamps against the cities of the bulwarks, and says to break into them himself.
2 Vendo pois Ezequias que Sennaquerib vinha, e que o seu rosto se dirigia à guerra contra Jerusalém,
And Hezekiah sees that Sennacherib has come, and his face [is] to the battle against Jerusalem,
3 Teve conselho com os seus príncipes e os seus varões, para que se tapassem as fontes das águas que havia fora da cidade: e eles o ajudaram.
and he takes counsel with his heads and his mighty ones, to stop the waters of the fountains that [are] at the outside of the city—and they help him,
4 Porque muito povo se ajuntou, que tapou todas as fontes, como também o ribeiro que se estendia pelo meio da terra, dizendo: Porque viriam os reis d'Assyria, e achariam tantas águas?
and many people are gathered, and they stop all the fountains and the brook that is rushing into the midst of the land, saying, “Why do the kings of Asshur come, and have found much water?”
5 E ele se fortificou, e edificou todo o muro quebrado até às torres, e levantou o outro muro para fora; e fortificou a milo na cidade de David, e fez armas e escudos em abundância.
And he strengthens himself, and builds the whole of the wall that is broken, and causes [it] to ascend to the towers, and at the outside of the wall [builds] another, and strengthens Millo [in] the City of David, and makes darts in abundance, and shields.
6 E pôs oficiais de guerra sobre o povo, e ajuntou-os a si na praça da porta da cidade, e falou-lhes ao coração, dizendo:
And he puts heads of war over the people, and gathers them to him, to the broad place of a gate of the city, and speaks to their heart, saying,
7 Esforçai-vos, e tende bom ânimo; não temais, nem vos espanteis, por causa do rei d'Assyria, nem por causa de toda a multidão que está com ele, porque há um maior conosco do que com ele.
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, nor be cast down from the face of the king of Asshur, and from the face of all the multitude that [is] with him, for with us [are] more than with him.
8 Com ele está o braço de carne, mas conosco o Senhor nosso Deus, para nos ajudar, e para guerrear nossas guerras. E o povo descançou nas palavras d'Ezequias, rei de Judá.
With him [is] an arm of flesh, but with us [is] our God YHWH to help us and to fight our battles”; and the people are supported by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9 Depois disto Sennaquerib, rei d'Assyria, enviou os seus servos a Jerusalém (ele porém estava diante de Lachis, com todo o seu domínio), a Ezequias, rei de Judá, e a todo o Judá que estava em Jerusalém, dizendo:
After this Sennacherib king of Asshur has sent his servants to Jerusalem—and he [is] by Lachish, and all his power with him—against Hezekiah king of Judah and against all Judah who [are] in Jerusalem, saying,
10 Assim diz Sennaquerib, rei d'Assyria: Em que confiais vós, que vos ficais na fortaleza em Jerusalém?
“Thus said Sennacherib king of Asshur: On what are you trusting and abiding in the bulwark in Jerusalem?
11 Porventura não vos incita Ezequias, para morrerdes à fome e à sede, dizendo: O Senhor nosso Deus nos livrará das mãos do rei d'Assyria?
Is Hezekiah not persuading you to give you up to die by famine and by thirst, saying, Our God YHWH delivers us from the hand of the king of Asshur?
12 Não é Ezequias o mesmo que tirou os seus altos e os seus altares, e falou a Judá e a Jerusalém, dizendo: Diante do único altar vos prostrareis, e sobre ele queimareis incenso?
Has Hezekiah himself not turned aside His high places and His altars, and speaks to Judah and to Jerusalem, saying, You bow yourselves before one altar and you make incense on it?
13 Não sabeis vós o que eu e meus pais fizemos a todos os povos das terras? porventura puderam de qualquer maneira os deuses das nações daquelas terras livrar a sua terra da minha mão
Do you not know what I have done—I and my fathers—to all peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands at all able to deliver their land out of my hand?
14 Qual é, de todos os deuses daquelas nações que meus pais destruiram, que pudesse livrar o seu povo da minha mão, para que vosso Deus vos possa livrar da minha mão
Who among all the gods of these nations whom my fathers have devoted to destruction [is] he who has been able to deliver his people out of my hand, that your God is able to deliver you out of my hand?
15 Agora, pois, não vos engane Ezequias, nem vos incite assim, nem lhe deis crédito; porque nenhum deus de nação alguma, nem de reino algum, pode livrar o seu povo da minha mão, nem da mão de meus pais: quanto menos vos poderá livrar o vosso Deus da minha mão?
And now, do not let Hezekiah lift you up, nor persuade you thus, nor give credence to him, for no god of any nation and kingdom is able to deliver his people from my hand and from the hand of my fathers: also, surely your God does not deliver you from my hand!”
16 Também seus servos falaram ainda mais contra o Senhor Deus, e contra Ezequias, o seu servo.
And again his servants have spoken against YHWH God and against His servant Hezekiah,
17 Escreveu também cartas, para blasfemar do Senhor Deus de Israel, e para falar contra ele, dizendo: Assim como os deuses das nações das terras não livraram o seu povo da minha mão, assim também o Deus d'Ezequias não livrará o seu povo da minha mão.
and he has written letters to give reproach to YHWH, God of Israel, and to speak against Him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands that have not delivered their people from my hand, so the God of Hezekiah does not deliver His people from my hand.”
18 E clamaram em alta voz em judaico contra o povo de Jerusalém, que estava em cima do muro, para os atemorisarem e os perturbarem, para que tomassem a cidade.
And they call with a great voice [in] Jewish against the people of Jerusalem who [are] on the wall, to frighten them and to trouble them, that they may capture the city,
19 E falaram do Deus de Jerusalém, como dos deuses dos povos da terra, obras das mãos dos homens.
and they speak against the God of Jerusalem as against the gods of the peoples of the land—work of the hands of man.
20 Porém o rei Ezequias e o profeta Isaias, filho d'Amós, oraram contra isso, e clamaram ao céu.
And Hezekiah the king prays, and Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, concerning this, and they cry to the heavens,
21 Então o Senhor enviou um anjo que destruiu a todos os varões valentes, e os príncipes, e os chefes no arraial do rei d'Assyria: e tornou com vergonha de rosto à sua terra: e, entrando na casa de seu deus, os mesmos que sairam das suas entranhas, o mataram ali à espada.
and YHWH sends a messenger and cuts off every mighty man of valor—both leader and head—in the camp of the king of Asshur, and he turns back with shame of face to his land and enters the house of his god, and those coming out of his bowels have caused him to fall there by the sword.
22 Assim livrou o Senhor a Ezequias, e aos moradores de Jerusalém, da mão de Sennaquerib, rei d'Assyria, e da mão de todos: e de todos os lados os guiou.
And YHWH saves Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Asshur and from the hand of all, and He leads them around;
23 E muitos traziam presentes a Jerusalém ao Senhor, e coisas preciosíssimas a Ezequias, rei de Judá, de modo que depois disto foi exaltado perante os olhos de todas as nações.
and many are bringing in an offering to YHWH, to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, and he is lifted up before the eyes of all the nations after this.
24 Naqueles dias Ezequias adoeceu de morte; e orou ao Senhor, o qual lhe falou, e lhe deu um sinal.
In those days Hezekiah has been sick even to death, and he prays to YHWH, and He speaks to him and has appointed a wonder for him;
25 Mas não correspondeu Ezequias ao benefício que se lhe fez; porque o seu coração se exaltou; pelo que veio grande indignação sobre ele, e sobre Judá e Jerusalém.
and Hezekiah has not returned according to the deed [done] to him, for his heart has been lofty, and there is wrath on him and on Judah and Jerusalem;
26 Ezequias, porém, se humilhou pela exaltação do seu coração, ele e os habitantes de Jerusalém: e a grande indignação do Senhor não veio sobre eles, nos dias de Ezequias.
and Hezekiah is humbled for the loftiness of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the wrath of YHWH has not come on them in the days of Hezekiah.
27 E teve Ezequias riquezas e glória em grande abundância: e fez-se tesouros de prata, e de ouro, e de pedras preciosas, e de especiarias, e d'escudos, e de todo o aviamento que se podia desejar.
And Hezekiah has very much riches and honor, and he has made treasures for himself of silver, and of gold, and of precious stone, and of spices, and of shields, and of all [kinds] of desirable vessels,
28 Também armazéns para a colheita do trigo, e do mosto, e do azeite; e estrebarias para toda a casta de animais, e currais para os rebanhos.
and storehouses for the increase of grain, and new wine, and oil, and stalls for all kinds of livestock, and herds for stalls;
29 Fez-se também cidades, e possessões de ovelhas e vacas em abundância: porque Deus lhe tinha dado muitíssima fazenda.
and he has made cities for himself, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance, for God has given very much substance to him.
30 Também o mesmo Ezequias tapou o manancial superior das águas de Gihon, e as fez correr por baixo para o ocidente da cidade de David: porque Ezequias prosperou em toda a sua obra.
And Hezekiah himself has stopped the upper source of the waters of Gihon, and directs them beneath to the west of the City of David, and Hezekiah prospers in all his work;
31 Contudo, no negócio dos embaixadores dos príncipes de Babilônia, que foram enviados a ele, a perguntarem acerca do prodígio que se fez naquela terra, Deus o desamparou, para tenta-lo, para saber tudo o que havia no seu coração.
and so with the ambassadors of the heads of Babylon, those sending to him to inquire of the wonder that has been in the land, God has left him to try him, to know all in his heart.
32 Quanto ao resto dos sucessos d'Ezequias, e as suas beneficências, eis que estão escritos na visão do profeta Isaias, filho d'Amós, e no livro dos reis de Judá e de Israel.
And the rest of the matters of Hezekiah and his kind acts, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, on the scroll of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33 E dormiu Ezequias com seus pais, e o sepultaram no mais alto dos sepulcros dos filhos de David; e todo o Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém lhe fizeram honras na sua morte: e Manasses, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
And Hezekiah lies with his fathers, and they bury him in the highest of the graves of the sons of David, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem have done honor to him at his death, and his son Manasseh reigns in his stead.
