2 Crônicas 2
1 E determinou Salomão edificar uma casa ao nome do Senhor, como também uma casa para o seu reino.
And Solomon determined to build a house to the name of the Lord, and a palace for himself.
2 E contou Salomão setenta mil homens de carga, e oitenta mil, que cortassem na montanha: e três mil e seiscentos inspetores sobre eles.
And he numbered out seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand to hew stones in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them.
3 E Salomão enviou a Hurão, rei de Tiro, dizendo: Como usaste com David meu pai, e lhe mandaste cedros, para edificar-se uma casa em que morasse, assim também usa comigo.
He sent also to Hiram king of Tyre, saying: As thou didst with David my father, and didst send him cedars, to build him a house, in which he dwelt:
4 Eis que estou para edificar uma casa ao nome do Senhor meu Deus, para lhe consagrar, para queimar perante ele incenso aromático, e para o pão contínuo da proposição, e para os holocaustos da manhã e da tarde, para os sábados, e para as luas novas, e para as festividades do Senhor nosso Deus: o que é perpetuamente a obrigação de Israel.
So do with me that I may build a house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to burn incense before him, and to perfume with aromatical spices, and for the continual setting forth of bread, and for the holocausts, morning and evening, and on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and the solemnities of the Lord our God for ever, which are commanded for Israel.
5 E a casa que estou para edificar há de ser grande; porque o nosso Deus é maior do que todos os deuses.
For the house which I desire to build, is great: for our God is great above all gods.
6 Porém quem teria a força, para lhe edificar uma casa? visto que os céus e até os céus dos céus o não podem conter: e quem sou eu, que lhe edificasse casa, salvo para queimar incenso perante ele?
Who then can be able to build him a worthy house? if heaven, and the heavens of heavens cannot contain him: who am I that I should be able to build him a house? but to this end only, that incense may be burnt before him.
7 Manda-me pois agora um homem sábio para obrar em ouro, e em prata, e em bronze, e em ferro, e em púrpura, e em carmezim, e em azul; e que saiba lavrar ao buril, juntamente com os sábios que estão comigo em Judá e em Jerusalém, os quais David meu pai preparou.
Send me therefore a skillful man, that knoweth how to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, and in iron, in purple, in scarlet and in blue, and that hath skill in engraving, with the artificers, which I have with me in Judea and Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.
8 Manda-me também madeira de cedros, faias, e alguns do líbano; porque bem sei eu que os teus servos sabem cortar madeira no líbano; e eis que os meus servos estarão com os teus servos.
Send me also cedars, and fir trees, and pine trees from Libanus: for I know that thy servants are skillful in cutting timber in Libanus, and my servants shall be with thy servants,
9 E isso para prepararem muita madeira; porque a casa que estou para fazer há de ser grande e maravilhosa.
To provide me timber in abundance. For the house which I desire to build, is to be exceeding great, and glorious.
10 E eis que a teus servos, os cortadores, que cortarem a madeira, darei vinte mil coros de trigo malhado, e vinte mil coros de cevada, e vinte mil batos de vinho, e vinte mil batos de azeite.
And I will give thy servants the workmen that are to cut down the trees, for their food twenty thousand cores of wheat, and as many cores of barley, and twenty thousand measures of wine, and twenty thousand measures of oil.
11 E Hurão, rei de Tiro, respondeu por escrito, e enviou a Salomão, dizendo: Porquanto o Senhor ama o seu povo, te pôs sobre ele rei.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent a letter to Solomon, saying: Because the Lord hath loved his people, therefore he hath made thee king over them.
12 Disse mais Hurão; bendito seja o Senhor Deus de Israel, que fez os céus e a terra; o que deu ao rei David um filho sábio, de grande prudência e entendimento, que edifique casa ao Senhor, e para o seu reino.
And he added, saying: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, who hath given to king David a wise and knowing son, endued with understanding and prudence, to build a house to the Lord, and a palace for himself.
13 Agora pois envio um homem sábio de grande entendimento, a saber Hurão Abihu,
I therefore have sent thee my father Hiram, a wise and most skillful man,
14 Filho de uma mulher das filhas de Dan, e cujo pai foi homem de Tiro; este sabe lavrar em ouro, e em prata, em bronze, em ferro, em pedras e em madeira, em púrpura, em azul, e em linho fino, e em carmezim, e é capaz para toda a obra do buril, e para todas as engenhosas invenções, qualquer coisa que se lhe propuzer, juntamente com os teus sábios, e os sábios de David, meu senhor, teu pai.
The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, whose father was a Tyrian, who knoweth how to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, and in iron, and in marble, and in timber, in purple also, and violet, and silk and scarlet: and who knoweth to grave all sort of graving, and to devise ingeniously all that there may be need of in the work with thy artificers, and with the artificers of my lord David thy father.
15 Agora pois, meu senhor, mande para os seus servos o trigo, e a cevada, e o azeite, e o vinho, de que falou.
The wheat therefore, and the barley and the oil, and the wine, which thou, my lord, hast promised, send to thy servants.
16 E nós cortaremos tanta madeira no líbano, quanta houveres míster, e ta traremos em jangadas pelo mar a Japho, e tu a farás subir a Jerusalém.
And we will cut down as many trees out of Libanus, as thou shalt want, and will convey them in floats by sea to Joppe: and it will be thy part to bring them thence to Jerusalem.
17 E Salomão contou a todos os homens estranhos, que havia na terra de Israel, conforme a conta com que os contara David seu pai: e acharam-se cento e cincoênta e três mil e seiscentos.
And Solomon numbered all the proselytes in the land of Israel, after the numbering which David his father had made, and they were found a hundred and fifty-three thousand and six hundred.
18 E fez deles setenta mil carreteiros, e oitenta mil cortadores na montanha: como também três mil e seiscentos inspetores, para fazerem trabalhar o povo.
And he set seventy thousand of them to carry burdens on their shoulders, and eighty thousand to hew stones in the mountains: and three thousand and six hundred to be overseers of the work of the people.
