1 Samuel 29

1 E ajuntaram os philisteus todos os seus exércitos em Aphek: e acamparam-se os israelitas junto à fonte que está em Jizreel.

Now the Philistines gathered together all their hosts, towards Aphek, —and, the Israelites, were encamping by the fountain, that is in Jezreel.

2 E os príncipes dos philisteus se foram para lá com centenas e com milhares: porém David e os seus homens iam com Achis na retaguarda.

And, the lords of the Philistines, were passing on by hundreds, and by thousands, —but, David and his men, were passing on in the rear, with Achish.

3 Disseram então os príncipes dos philisteus: Que fazem aqui estes hebreus? E disse Achis aos príncipes dos philisteus: Não é este David, o criado de Saul, rei de Israel, que esteve comigo há alguns dias ou anos? e coisa nenhuma achei nele desde o dia em que se revoltou, até ao dia de hoje.

Then said the princes of the Philistines, What are these Hebrews [doing]? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines—Is not this David, servant of Saul king of Israel, who hath been with me this year, or two, and I have found in him nothing, from the day of his coming over unto me unto this day?

4 Porém os príncipes dos philisteus muito se indignaram contra ele; e disseram-lhe os príncipes dos philisteus: Faze voltar a este homem, e torne ao seu lugar em que tu o puseste, e não desça conosco à batalha, para que não se nos torne na batalha em adversário: porque com que aplacaria este a seu senhor? porventura não seria com as cabeças destes homens

But the princes of the Philistines raged against him, and the princes of the Philistines said unto him—Let the man go back, that he may return unto the place which thou didst appoint him, and let him not go down with us, into battle, so shall he not become to us a traitor, in the battle, —for, wherewith, should this fellow gain favour with his lord? Would it not be with the heads of those men?

5 Não é este aquele David, de quem uns aos outros respondiam nas danças, dizendo: Saul feriu os seus milhares, porém David as suas dezenas de milhares?

Is not this David, of whom they made responses in the dances, saying, —Saul, hath smitten, his thousands, But, David, his, tens of thousands?

6 Então Achis chamou a David e disse-lhe: Vive o Senhor, que tu és reto, e que a tua entrada e a tua saída comigo no arraial é boa aos meus olhos; porque nenhum mal em ti achei, desde o dia em que a mim vieste, até ao dia de hoje; porém aos olhos dos príncipes não agradas.

So Achish called for David, and said unto him—By the life of Yahweh, surely, upright, thou art, and, pleasing in mine eyes, have been thy going out and thy coming in with me, in the host, for I have found in thee no wrong, from the day of thy coming in unto me, until this day, —but, in the eyes of the lords, displeasing, thou art.

7 Volta pois agora, e volta em paz: para que não faças mal aos olhos dos príncipes dos philisteus.

Now, therefore, return, and go in peace, —so shalt thou not do wrong in the eyes of the lords of the Philistines.

8 Então David disse a Achis: Porque? que fiz? ou que achaste no teu servo, desde o dia em que estive diante de ti, até ao dia de hoje, para que não vá e peleje contra os inimigos do rei meu senhor?

Then said David unto Achish—But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant, from the day that I came before thee, unto this day, —that I may not go in and fight, with the enemies of my lord the king.

9 Respondeu porém Achis, e disse a David: Bem o sei; e que na verdade aos meus olhos és bom como um anjo de Deus: porém disseram os príncipes dos philisteus: Não suba este conosco à batalha.

Then answered Achish, and said unto David, I acknowledge that, pleasing, thou art in mine eyes, as a messenger of God, —notwithstanding, the princes of the Philistines, have said, He shall not go up with us, into the battle.

10 Agora pois amanhã de madrugada levanta-te com os criados de teu senhor, que tem vindo contigo: e, levantando-vos pela manhã de madrugada, e havendo luz, parti.

Now, therefore, rise up early in the morning, thou and the servants of thy lord who have come with thee, —yea, as soon as ye have risen early in the morning, and have light, then depart.

11 Então David de madrugada se levantou, ele e os seus homens, para partirem pela manhã, e voltarem à terra dos philisteus: e os philisteus subiram a Jizreel.

So David rose up early, he and his men, to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines, —but, the Philistines, went up to Jezreel.
