1 Pedro 4

1 Ora pois, já que Cristo padeceu por nós na carne, armai-vos também vós com este pensamento, que aquele que padeceu na carne já cessou do pecado,

Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, ye also with the same mind arm yourselves, because he who did suffer in the flesh hath done with sin,

2 Para, no tempo que lhe resta na carne, não viver mais segundo as concupiscências dos homens, mas segundo a vontade de Deus.

no more in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh;

3 Porque basta-nos que no tempo passado da vida obrássemos a vontade dos gentios, andando em dissoluções, concupiscências, borrachices, glutonarias, bebedices e abomináveis idolatrias,

for sufficient to us [is] the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revellings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,

4 O que estranham, por não correrdes com eles no mesmo desenfreamento de dissolução, blasfemando de vós.

in which they think it strange — your not running with them to the same excess of dissoluteness, speaking evil,

5 Os quais hão de dar conta ao que está preparado para julgar os vivos e os mortos.

who shall give an account to Him who is ready to judge living and dead,

6 Porque para isso foi pregado o evangelho também aos mortos, para que, na verdade, fossem julgados segundo os homens na carne, porém vivessem segundo Deus em espírito;

for for this also to dead men was good news proclaimed, that they may be judged, indeed, according to men in the flesh, and may live according to God in the spirit.

7 E já está próximo o fim de todas as coisas: portanto sede sóbrios e vigiai em orações.

And of all things the end hath come nigh; be sober-minded, then, and watch unto the prayers,

8 Mas, sobretudo, tende ardente caridade uns para com os outros; porque a caridade cobrirá a multidão de pecados.

and, before all things, to one another having the earnest love, because the love shall cover a multitude of sins;

9 Hospedai-vos uns aos outros, sem murmurações.

hospitable to one another, without murmuring;

10 Cada um administre aos outros o dom como o recebeu, como bons dispenseiros da multiforme graça de Deus.

each, according as he received a gift, to one another ministering it, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;

11 Se alguém falar, fale segundo as palavras de Deus: se alguém administrar, administre segundo o poder que Deus dá; para que em tudo Deus seja glorificado por Jesus Cristo, a quem pertence a glória e poder para todo o sempre. amém. (aiōn g165)

if any one doth speak — 'as oracles of God;' if any one doth minister — 'as of the ability which God doth supply;' that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the power — to the ages of the ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)

12 Amados, não estranheis o ardor que vos sobrevem para vos tentar, como se coisa estranha vos acontecesse;

Beloved, think it not strange at the fiery suffering among you that is coming to try you, as if a strange thing were happening to you,

13 Mas alegrai-vos de serdes participantes das aflições de Cristo: para que também na revelação da sua glória vos regozijeis e alegreis.

but, according as ye have fellowship with the sufferings of the Christ, rejoice ye, that also in the revelation of his glory ye may rejoice — exulting;

14 Se pelo nome de Cristo sois vituperados, bem-aventurados sois, porque sobre vós repousa o espírito da glória de Deus; o qual, quanto a eles, é blasfemado, mas, quanto a vós, glorificado.

if ye be reproached in the name of Christ — happy [are ye], because the Spirit of glory and of God upon you doth rest; in regard, indeed, to them, he is evil-spoken of, and in regard to you, he is glorified;

15 Porém nenhum de vós padeça como homicida, ou ladrão, ou malfeitor, ou como o que se entremete em negócios alheios;

for let none of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evil-doer, or as an inspector into other men's matters;

16 Mas, se padece como cristão, não se envergonhe, antes glorifique a Deus nesta parte.

and if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; and let him glorify God in this respect;

17 Porque já é tempo que comece o juízo pela casa de Deus; e, se primeiro começa por nós, qual será o fim daqueles que são desobedientes ao evangelho de Deus?

because it is the time of the beginning of the judgment from the house of God, and if first from us, what the end of those disobedient to the good news of God?

18 E, se o justo apenas se salva, onde aparecerá o ímpio e o pecador?

And if the righteous man is scarcely saved, the ungodly and sinner — where shall he appear?

19 Portanto também os que padecem segundo a vontade de Deus encomendem-lhe as suas almas, como ao fiel criador, fazendo o bem.

so that also those suffering according to the will of god, as to a stedfast Creator, let them commit their own souls in good doing.
