1 E tinha Noemi um parente de seu marido, homem valente e poderoso, da geração de Elimelech: e era o seu nome Boaz.
AND Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
2 E Ruth a moabita disse a Noemi: Deixa-me ir ao campo, e apanharei espigas após d'aquelle em cujos olhos eu achar graça. E ella lhe disse: Vae, minha filha.
And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.
3 Foi pois, e chegou, e apanhava espigas no campo após dos segadores: e caiu-lhe em sorte uma parte do campo de Boaz, que era da geração de Elimelech.
And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
4 E eis que Boaz veiu de Beth-lehem, e disse aos segadores: O Senhor seja comvosco. E disseram-lhe elles: O Senhor te abençoe.
And, behold, Boaz came from Beth-lehem, and said unto the reapers, The Lord be with you. And they answered him, The Lord bless thee.
5 Depois disse Boaz a seu moço, que estava posto sobre os segadores: De quem é esta moça?
Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?
6 E respondeu o moço, que estava posto sobre os segadores, e disse: Esta é a moça moabita que voltou com Noemi dos campos de Moab.
And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:
7 Disse-me ella: Deixa-me colher espigas, e ajuntal-as entre as gavellas após dos segadores. Assim ella veiu, e desde pela manhã está aqui até agora, a não ser um pouco que esteve sentada em casa
And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.
8 Então disse Boaz a Ruth: Não ouves, filha minha? não vás colher a outro campo, nem tão pouco passes d'aqui: porém aqui te ajuntarás com as minhas moças.
Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:
9 Os teus olhos estarão attentos no campo que segarem, e irás após d'ellas; não dei ordem aos moços, que te não toquem? tendo tu sede, vae aos vasos, e bebe do que os moços tirarem.
Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.
10 Então ella caiu sobre o seu rosto, e se inclinou á terra: e disse-lhe: Porque achei graça em teus olhos, para que faças caso de mim, sendo eu uma estrangeira?
Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?
11 E respondeu Boaz, e disse-lhe: Bem se me contou quanto fizeste a tua sogra, depois da morte de teu marido: e deixaste a teu pae e a tua mãe, e a terra onde nasceste, e vieste para um povo que d'antes não conheceste.
And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.
12 O Senhor galardoe o teu feito: e seja cumprido o teu galardão do Senhor Deus de Israel, sob cujas azas te vieste abrigar.
The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
13 E disse ella: Ache eu graça em teus olhos, senhor meu, pois me consolaste, e pois fallaste ao coração da tua serva, não sendo eu ainda como uma das tuas creadas.
Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.
14 E, sendo já horas de comer, disse-lhe Boaz: Achega-te aqui, e come do pão, e molha o teu bocado no vinagre. E ella se assentou ao lado dos segadores, e elle lhe deu do trigo tostado, e comeu, e se fartou, e ainda lhe sobejou.
And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.
15 E, levantando-se ella a colher, Boaz deu ordem aos seus moços, dizendo: Até entre as gavelas deixae-a colher, e não lh'o embaraceis.
And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:
16 E deixae cair alguns punhados, e deixae-os ficar, para que os colha, e não a reprehendaes.
And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.
17 E esteve ella apanhando n'aquelle campo até á tarde: e debulhou o que apanhou, e foi quasi um epha de cevada.
So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.
18 E tomou-o, e veiu á cidade; e viu sua sogra o que tinha apanhado: tambem tirou, e deu-lhe o que lhe sobejara depois de fartar-se.
And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.
19 Então disse-lhe sua sogra: Onde colheste hoje, e onde trabalhaste? bemdito seja aquelle que te reconheceu. E relatou a sua sogra com quem tinha trabalhado, e disse: O nome do homem com quem hoje trabalhei é Boaz.
And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man’s name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.
20 Então Noemi disse a sua nora: Bemdito seja do Senhor, que ainda não tem deixado a sua beneficencia nem para com os vivos nem para com os mortos. Disse-lhe mais Noemi: Este homem é nosso parente chegado, e um d'entre os nossos remidores.
And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the Lord, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.
21 E disse Ruth, a moabita: Tambem ainda me disse: Com os moços que tenho te ajuntarás, até que acabem toda a sega que tenho.
And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.
22 E disse Noemi a sua nora, Ruth: Melhor é, filha minha, que saias com as suas moças, para que n'outro campo não te encontrem.
And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.
23 Assim, ajuntou-se com as moças de Boaz, para colher até que a sega das cevadas e dos trigos se acabou; e ficou com a sua sogra.
So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.
