Apocalipse 18
1 E depois d'estas coisas vi descer do céu outro anjo, que tinha grande poder, e a terra foi illuminada da sua gloria.
After these things I saw another angel coming down from Heaven, armed with great power. The earth shone with his splendor,
2 E clamou fortemente com grande voz, dizendo: É caida, é caida a grande Babylonia, e é feita morada de demonios, e coito de todo o espirito immundo, e coito de toda a ave immunda e aborrecivel.
and with a mighty voice he cried out, saying, "Great Babylon has fallen, has fallen, and has become a home for demons and a stronghold for every kind of foul spirit and for every kind of foul and hateful bird.
3 Porque todas as nações beberam do vinho da ira da sua fornicação, e os reis da terra fornicaram com ella; e os mercadores da terra se enriqueceram da abundancia de suas delicias.
For all the nations have drunk the wine of the anger provoked by her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich through her excessive luxury."
4 E ouvi outra voz do céu, que dizia: Sae d'ella, povo meu, para que não sejas participante dos seus peccados, e para que não recebas das suas pragas.
Then I heard another voice from Heaven, which said, "Come out of her, My people, that you may not become partakers in her sins, nor receive a share of her plagues.
5 Porque já os seus peccados se accumularam até ao céu, e Deus se lembrou das iniquidades d'ella.
For her sins are piled up to the sky, and God has called to mind her unrighteous deeds.
6 Tornae-lhe como ella vos tem dado, e duplicae-lhe em dobro conforme as suas obras: no calix em que vos deu de beber dae-lhe a ella em dobro.
Give back to her as she has given; repay her in accordance with her doings, twice as much; in the bowl that she has mixed, mix twice as much for her.
7 Quanto ella se glorificou, e em delicias esteve, tanto lhe dae de tormento e pranto; porque diz em seu coração: Estou assentada como rainha, e não sou viuva, e não verei o pranto.
She has freely glorified herself and revelled in luxury; equally freely administer torment to her, and woe. For in her heart she boasts, saying, 'I sit enthroned as Queen: no widow am I: I shall never know sorrow.'
8 Portanto n'um dia virão as suas pragas; a morte, e o pranto, e a fome; e será queimada com fogo; porque é forte o Senhor Deus que a julga.
"For this reason calamities shall come thick upon her on a single day--death and sorrow and famine--and she shall be burned to the ground. For strong is the Lord God who has judged her.
9 E os reis da terra, que fornicaram com ella, e viveram em delicias, a chorarão, e sobre ella prantearão, quando virem o fumo do seu incendio;
The kings of the earth who have committed fornication with her, and have revelled in luxury, shall weep aloud and lament over her when they see the smoke of her burning,
10 Estando de longe pelo temor do seu tormento, dizendo: Ai! ai d'aquella grande Babylonia, aquella forte cidade! pois n'uma hora veiu o teu juizo.
while they stand afar off because of their terror at her heavy punishment, and say, 'Alas, alas, thou great city, O Babylon, the mighty city! For in one short hour thy doom has come!'
11 E sobre ella choram e lamentam os mercadores da terra; porque ninguem mais compra as suas mercadorias:
And the merchants of the earth weep aloud and lament over her, because now there is no sale for their cargoes--
12 Mercadorias de oiro, e de prata, e de pedras preciosas, e de perolas, e de linho fino, e de purpura, e de seda, e de escarlata; e toda a madeira odorifera, e todo o vaso de marfim, e todo o vaso de madeira preciosissima, de bronze e de ferro, e de marmore;
cargoes of gold and silver, of jewels and pearls, of fine linen, purple and silk, and of scarlet stuff; all kinds of rare woods, and all kinds of goods in ivory and in very costly wood, in bronze, steel and marble.
13 E canella, e especiaria, e perfume, e unguento odorifero, e incenso, e vinho, e azeite, e flor de farinha, e trigo, e cavalgaduras, e ovelhas; e mercadorias de cavallos, e de carros, e de corpos e de almas de homens.
Also cinnamon and amomum; odors to burn as incense or for perfume; frankincense, wine, oil; fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep; horses and carriages and slaves; and the lives of men.
14 E o fructo do desejo da tua alma foi-se de ti; e todas as coisas gostosas e excellentes se foram de ti, e não mais as acharás.
The dainties that thy soul longed for are gone from thee, and all thine elegance and splendor have perished, and never again shall they be found.
15 Os mercadores d'estas coisas, que por ellas se enriqueceram, estarão de longe, pelo temor do seu tormento, chorando, e lamentando,
Those who traded in these things, who grew wealthy through her, will stand afar off, struck with terror at her punishment,
16 E dizendo: Ai, ai d'aquella grande cidade! que estava vestida de linho fino, e purpura, e escarlata; e adornada com oiro e pedras preciosas e perolas! Porque n'uma hora foram assoladas tantas riquezas.
weeping aloud and sorrowing, and saying, 'Alas, alas, for this great city, which was brilliantly arrayed in fine linen, and purple and scarlet stuff, and beautified with gold, jewels and pearls;
17 E todo o piloto, e todo o que navega em náos, e todo o marinheiro, e todos os que traficam por mar se pozeram de longe:
because in one short hour all this great wealth has been laid waste!' And every shipmaster and every passenger by sea and the crews and all who ply their trade on the sea,
18 E, vendo o fumo do seu incendio, clamaram, dizendo: Que cidade é similhante a esta grande cidade?
stood afar off, and cried aloud when they saw the smoke of her burning. And they said, 'What city is like this great city?'
19 E lançaram pó sobre as suas cabeças, e clamaram, chorando, e lamentando, e dizendo: Ai, ai d'aquella grande cidade! na qual todos os que tinham náos no mar se enriqueceram da sua opulencia; porque n'uma hora foi assolada.
And they threw dust upon their heads, and cried out, weeping aloud and sorrowing. 'Alas, alas,' they said, 'for this great city, in which, through her vast wealth, the owners of all the ships on the sea have grown rich; because in one short hour she has been laid waste!'
20 Alegra-te sobre ella, ó céu, e vós, sanctos apostolos e prophetas; porque já Deus julgou a vossa causa quanto a ella.
Rejoice over her, O Heaven, and you saints and Apostles and Prophets; for God has taken vengeance upon her because of you."
21 E um forte anjo levantou uma pedra como uma grande mó, e lançou-a no mar, dizendo: Com egual impeto será lançada Babylonia, aquella grande cidade, e não será jámais achada
Then a single angel of great strength took a stone which resembled a huge millstone, and hurled it into the sea, saying, "So shall Babylon, that great city, be violently hurled down and never again be found.
22 E em ti não se ouvirá mais a voz de harpistas, e de musicos, e de frauteiros, e de trombeteiros, e nenhum artifice de arte alguma se achará mais em ti; e ruido de mó em ti mais se não ouvirá:
No harp or song, no flute or trumpet, shall ever again be heard in thee; no craftsman of any kind shall ever again be found in thee; nor shall the grinding of the mill ever again be heard in thee.
23 E luz de candeia não mais alumiará em ti, e voz de esposo e de esposa mais em ti se não ouvirá; porque os teus mercadores eram os grandes da terra; porque todas as nações foram enganadas pelas tuas feiticerias.
Never again shall the light of a lamp shine in thee, and never again shall the voice of a bridegroom or of a bride be heard in thee. For thy merchants were the great men of the earth, and with the magic which thou didst practise all nations were led astray.
24 E n'ella se achou o sangue dos prophetas, e dos sanctos, e de todos os que foram mortos na terra.
And in her was found the blood of Prophets and of God's people and of all who had been put to death on the earth."
