Salmos 91

1 Aquelle que habita no esconderijo do Altissimo, á sombra do Omnipotente descançará.

He who sitteth under the shelter of the Most High Maketh his abode in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 Direi do Senhor: Elle é o meu Deus, o meu refugio, a minha fortaleza, e n'elle confiarei.

I say to the LORD, Thou art my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust.

3 Porque elle te livrará do laço do passarinheiro, e da peste perniciosa.

Surely he will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the wasting pestilence;

4 Elle te cobrirá com as suas pennas, e debaixo das suas azas te confiarás: a sua verdade será o teu escudo e rodella.

He will cover thee with his feathers, And under his wings shalt thou find refuge; His faithfulness shall be thy shield and buckler.

5 Não terás medo do terror de noite nem da setta que vôa de dia,

Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night, Nor of the arrow that flieth by day;

6 Nem da peste que anda na escuridão, nem da mortandade que assola ao meio-dia.

Nor of the pestilence that walketh in darkness, Nor of the plague that destroyeth at noonday.

7 Mil cairão ao teu lado, e dez mil á tua direita, mas não chegará a ti.

A thousand shall fall by thy side, And ten thousand at thy right hand; But thee it shall not touch.

8 Sómente com os teus olhos contemplarás, e verás a recompensa dos impios.

Thou shalt only behold with thine eyes, And see the recompense of the wicked.

9 Porque tu, ó Senhor, és o meu refugio: no Altissimo fizeste a tua habitação.

Because thou hast made the LORD thy refuge, And the Most High thy habitation,

10 Nenhum mal te succederá, nem praga alguma chegará á tua tenda.

No evil shall befall thee, Nor any plague come near thy dwelling.

11 Porque aos seus anjos dará ordem a teu respeito para te guardarem em todos os teus caminhos.

For he will give his angels charge over thee, To guard thee in all thy ways.

12 Elles te sustentarão nas suas mãos, para que não tropeces com o teu pé em pedra.

They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13 Pisarás o leão e a cobra; calcarás aos pés o filho do leão e o dragão.

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder; The young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under foot.

14 Porquanto tão encarecidamente me amou, tambem eu o livrarei; pôl-o-hei em retiro alto, porque conheceu o meu nome.

“Because he loveth me, I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knoweth my name.

15 Elle me invocará, e eu lhe responderei; estarei com elle na angustia; d'ella o retirarei, e o glorificarei.

When he calleth upon me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and bring him to honor.

16 Fartal-o-hei com longura de dias, e lhe mostrarei a minha salvação.

With long life will I satisfy him, And show him my salvation.”
