Salmos 8

1 Ó Senhor, nosso Senhor, quão admiravel é o teu nome em toda a terra, pois pozeste a tua gloria sobre os céus!

2 Tu ordenaste força da bocca das creanças e dos que mamam, por causa dos teus inimigos, para fazer calar ao inimigo e ao vingador.

From the lips of babes and infants you have established strength, because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger.

3 Quando vejo os teus céus, obra dos teus dedos, a lua e as estrellas que preparaste;

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained,

4 Que é o homem mortal para que te lembres d'elle? e o filho do homem, para que o visites?

what is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him?

5 Pois pouco menor o fizeste do que os anjos, e de gloria e de honra o coroaste.

For you have made him a little lower than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor.

6 Fazes com que elle tenha dominio sobre as obras das tuas mãos; tudo pozeste debaixo de seus pés:

You make him ruler over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet:

7 Todas as ovelhas e bois, assim como os animaes do campo,

All sheep and cattle, yes, and the animals of the field,

8 As aves dos céus, e os peixes do mar, e tudo o que passa pelas veredas dos mares.

the birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

9 Ó Senhor, nosso Senhor, quão admiravel é o teu nome sobre toda a terra!

Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
