Salmos 48

1 Grande é o Senhor e mui digno de louvor, na cidade do nosso Deus, no seu monte sancto.

A psalm of a canticle, for the sons of Core, on the second day of the week. Great is the Lord, and exceedingly to be praised in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.

2 Formoso de sitio, e alegria de toda a terra é o monte de Sião sobre os lados do norte, a cidade do grande Rei.

With the joy of the whole earth is mount Sion founded, on the sides of the north, the city of the great king.

3 Deus é conhecido nos seus palacios por um alto refugio.

In her houses shall God be known, when he shall protect her.

4 Porque eis que os reis se ajuntaram: elles passaram juntos.

For behold the kings of the earth assembled themselves: they gathered together.

5 Viram-n'o, e ficaram maravilhados; ficaram assombrados e se apressaram em fugir.

So they saw, and they wondered, they were troubled, they were moved:

6 Tremor ali os tomou, e dôres como de mulher de parto.

Trembling took hold of them. There were pains as of a woman in labour.

7 Tu quebras as náus de Tarsis com um vento oriental.

With a vehement wind thou shalt break in pieces the ships of Tharsis.

8 Como o ouvimos, assim o vimos na cidade do Senhor dos Exercitos, na cidade do nosso Deus. Deus a confirmará para sempre (Selah)

As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God hath founded it for ever.

9 Lembramo-nos, ó Deus, da tua benignidade no meio do teu templo.

We have received thy mercy, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

10 Segundo é o teu nome, ó Deus, assim é o teu louvor, até aos fins da terra: a tua mão direita está cheia de justiça.

According to thy name, O God, so also is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of justice.

11 Alegre-se o monte de Sião; alegrem-se as filhas de Judah por causa dos teus juizos.

Let mount Sion rejoice, and the daughters of Juda be glad; because of thy judgments, O Lord.

12 Rodeae Sião, e cercae-a, contae as suas torres.

Surround Sion, and encompass her: tell ye in her towers.

13 Marcae bem os seus antemuros, considerae os seus palacios, para que o conteis á geração seguinte.

Set your hearts on her strength; and distribute her houses, that ye may relate it in another generation.

14 Porque este Deus é o nosso Deus para sempre, elle será nosso guia até á morte.

For this is God, our God unto eternity, and for ever and ever: he shall rule us for evermore.
