Salmos 44
1 Ó Deus, nós ouvimos com os nossos ouvidos, e nossos paes nos teem contado a obra que fizeste em seus dias, nos tempos da antiguidade.
To him that excelleth. A Psalme to give instruction, committed to the sonnes of Korah. We haue heard with our eares, O God: our fathers haue tolde vs the workes, that thou hast done in their dayes, in the olde time:
2 Como expelliste as nações com a tua mão e os plantaste a elles: como affligiste os povos e os derribaste.
Howe thou hast driuen out the heathen with thine hand, and planted them: how thou hast destroyed the people, and caused them to grow.
3 Pois não conquistaram a terra pela sua espada, nem o seu braço os salvou, mas a tua dextra e o teu braço, e a luz da tua face, porquanto te agradaste d'elles.
For they inherited not the lande by their owne sworde, neither did their owne arme saue them: but thy right hand, and thine arme and the light of thy countenance, because thou didest fauour them.
4 Tu és o meu Rei, ó Deus: ordena salvações para Jacob.
Thou art my King, O God: send helpe vnto Iaakob.
5 Por ti escornearemos os nossos inimigos: pelo teu nome pizaremos os que se levantam contra nós:
Through thee haue we thrust backe our aduersaries: by thy Name haue we troden downe them that rose vp against vs.
6 Pois eu não confiarei no meu arco, nem a minha espada me salvará.
For I do not trust in my bowe, neither can my sworde saue me.
7 Mas tu nos salvaste dos nossos inimigos, e confundiste os que nos aborreciam.
But thou hast saued vs from our aduersaries, and hast put them to confusion that hate vs.
8 Em Deus nos gloriamos todo o dia, e louvamos o teu nome eternamente (Selah)
Therefore will wee praise God continually, and will confesse thy Name for euer. (Selah)
9 Mas agora tu nos rejeitaste e nos confundiste, e não saes com os nossos exercitos.
But now thou art farre off, and puttest vs to confusion, and goest not forth with our armies.
10 Faze-nos retirar do inimigo, e aquelles que nos odeiam nos saqueiam para si.
Thou makest vs to turne backe from the aduersary, and they, which hate vs, spoile for theselues.
11 Tu nos entregaste como ovelhas para comer, e nos espalhaste entre as nações.
Thou giuest vs as sheepe to bee eaten, and doest scatter vs among the nations.
12 Tu vendes por nada o teu povo, e não augmentas a tua riqueza com o seu preço.
Thou sellest thy people without gaine, and doest not increase their price.
13 Tu nos pões por opprobrio aos nossos visinhos, por escarneo e zombaria de aquelles que estão á roda de nós.
Thou makest vs a reproche to our neighbours, a iest and a laughing stocke to them that are round about vs.
14 Tu nos pões por proverbio entre as nações, por movimento de cabeça entre os povos.
Thou makest vs a prouerbe among the nations, and a nodding of the head among the people.
15 A minha confusão está constantemente diante de mim, e a vergonha do meu rosto me cobre:
My confusion is dayly before me, and the shame of my face hath couered me,
16 Á voz d'aquelle que affronta e blasphema, por causa do inimigo e do vingador.
For the voyce of the slaunderer and rebuker, for the enemie and auenger.
17 Tudo isto nos sobreveiu: comtudo não nos esquecemos de ti, nem nos houvemos falsamente contra o teu concerto.
All this is come vpon vs, yet doe wee not forget thee, neither deale wee falsly concerning thy couenant.
18 O nosso coração não voltou atraz, nem os nossos passos se desviaram das tuas veredas;
Our heart is not turned backe: neither our steps gone out of thy paths,
19 Ainda que nos quebrantaste n'um logar de dragões, e nos cobriste com a sombra da morte.
Albeit thou hast smitten vs downe into the place of dragons, and couered vs with the shadow of death.
20 Se nós esquecemos o nome do nosso Deus, e estendemos as nossas mãos para um deus estranho,
If wee haue forgotten the Name of our God, and holden vp our hands to a strange god,
21 Porventura não esquadrinhará Deus isso? pois elle sabe os segredos do coração.
Shall not God searche this out? for hee knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22 Sim, por amor de ti, somos mortos todo o dia: somos tidos na conta de ovelhas para o matadouro.
Surely for thy sake are we slaine continually, and are counted as sheepe for the slaughter.
23 Desperta, porque dormes, Senhor? acorda, não nos rejeites para sempre.
Vp, why sleepest thou, O Lord? awake, be not farre off for euer.
24 Porque escondes a tua face, e te esqueces da nossa miseria e da nossa oppressão?
Wherefore hidest thou thy face? and forgettest our miserie and our affliction?
25 Pois a nossa alma está abatida até ao pó; o nosso ventre se apega á terra.
For our soule is beaten downe vnto the dust: our belly cleaueth vnto the ground.
26 Levanta-te em nosso auxilio, e resgata-nos por amor das tuas misericordias.
Rise vp for our succour, and redeeme vs for thy mercies sake.
