Salmos 17

1 Ouve, Senhor, a justiça, attende ao meu clamor; dá ouvidos á minha oração, que não é feita com labios enganosos.

A prayer of David. Hearken, O Lord of my righteousness, attend to my petition; give ear to my prayer not [uttered] with deceitful lips.

2 Saia o meu juizo de diante do teu rosto; attendam os teus olhos á razão.

Let my judgment come forth from thy presence; let mine eyes behold righteousness.

3 Provaste o meu coração; visitaste-me de noite; examinaste-me, e nada achaste; propuz que a minha bocca não transgredirá.

Thou has proved mine heart; thou hast visited [me] by night; thou hast tried me as with fire, and unrighteousness has not been found in me: [I am purposed] that my mouth shall not speak [amiss].

4 Quanto ao trato dos homens, pela palavra dos teus labios me guardei das veredas do destruidor.

As for the works of men, by the words of thy lips I have guarded [myself from] hard ways.

5 Dirige os meus passos nos teus caminhos, para que as minhas pégadas não vacillem.

Direct my steps in thy paths, that my steps slip not.

6 Eu te invoquei, ó Deus, pois me queres ouvir; inclina para mim os teus ouvidos, e escuta as minhas palavras.

I have cried, for thou heardest me, O God: incline thine ear to me, and hearken to my words.

7 Faze maravilhosas as tuas beneficencias, ó tu que livras aquelles que em ti confiam dos que se levantam contra a tua mão direita.

Shew the marvels of thy mercies, thou that savest them that hope in thee.

8 Guarda-me como á menina do olho, esconde-me debaixo da sombra das tuas azas,

Keep me as the apple of the eye from those that resist thy right hand: thou shalt screen me by the covering of thy wings,

9 Dos impios que me opprimem, dos meus inimigos mortaes que me andam cercando.

from the face of the ungodly that have afflicted me: mine enemies have compassed about my soul.

10 Na sua gordura se encerram, com a bocca fallam soberbamente.

They have enclosed [themselves with] their own fat: their mouth has spoken pride.

11 Teem-nos cercado agora nossos passos; e abaixaram os seus olhos para a terra;

They have now cast me out and compassed me round about: they have set their eyes [so as] to bow them down to the ground.

12 Parecem-se com o leão que deseja arrebatar a sua preza, e com o leãosinho que se põe em esconderijos.

They laid wait for me as a lion ready for prey, and like a lion's whelp dwelling in secret [places].

13 Levanta-te, Senhor, detem-n'a, derriba-o, livra a minha alma do impio, com a espada tua,

Arise, O Lord, prevent them, and cast them down: deliver my soul from the ungodly: [draw] thy sword,

14 Dos homens que são a tua mão, Senhor, dos homens do mundo, cuja porção está n'esta vida, e cujo ventre enches do teu thesouro occulto: estão fartos de filhos e dão os seus sobejos ás suas creanças.

because of the enemies of thine hand: O Lord, destroy them from the earth; scatter them in their life, though their belly has been filled with thy hidden [treasures]: they have been satisfied with uncleanness, and have left the remnant [of their possessions] to their babes.

15 Emquanto a mim, contemplarei a tua face na justiça; satisfazer-me-hei da tua similhança quando acordar.

But I shall appear in righteousness before thy face: I shall be satisfied when thy glory appears.
