Salmos 124

1 Se não fôra o Senhor, que esteve ao nosso lado, ora diga Israel;

“A song of the degrees by David.” If it had not been the Lord who was for us, so should Israel say;

2 Se não fôra o Senhor, que esteve ao nosso lado, quando os homens se levantaram contra nós,

If it had not been the Lord who was for us, when men rose up against us:

3 Elles então nos teriam engulido vivos, quando a sua ira se accendesse contra nós.

Then would they have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;

4 Então as aguas teriam trasbordado sobre nós, e a corrente teria passado sobre a nossa alma;

Then would the waters have overwhelmed us, the stream would have passed over our soul;

5 Então as aguas altivas teriam passado sobre a nossa alma.

Then would have passed over our soul the presumptuous waters.

6 Bemdito seja o Senhor, que não nos deu por preza aos seus dentes.

Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us up as a prey to their teeth.

7 A nossa alma escapou, como um passaro do laço dos passarinheiros; o laço quebrou-se, e nós escapámos.

Our soul is escaped like a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 O nosso soccorro está no nome do Senhor, que fez o céu e a terra.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
