Provérbios 6
1 Filho meu, se ficaste por fiador do teu companheiro, se déste a tua mão ao estranho,
My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
2 Enredaste-te com as palavras da tua bocca: prendeste-te com as palavras da tua bocca.
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
3 Faze pois isto agora, filho meu, e livra-te, pois já caiste nas mãos do teu companheiro; vae, humilha-te, e aperta com o teu companheiro.
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
4 Não dês somno aos teus olhos, nem adormecimento ás tuas palpebras.
Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
5 Livra-te como o corço da mão do passarinheiro.
Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 Vae-te á formiga, ó preguiçoso: olha para os seus caminhos, e sê sabio.
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
7 A qual, não tendo superior, nem official, nem dominador,
Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
8 Prepara no verão o seu pão: na sega ajunta o seu mantimento.
Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
9 Oh! preguiçoso, até quando ficarás deitado? quando te levantarás do teu somno?
How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Um pouco de somno, um pouco tosquenejando; um pouco encruzando as mãos, para estar deitado.
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 Assim te sobrevirá a tua pobreza como o caminhante, e a tua necessidade como um homem armado.
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
12 O homem de Belial, o homem vicioso, anda em perversidade de bocca.
A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a perverse mouth.
13 Acena com os olhos, falla com os pés, ensina com os dedos.
He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
14 Perversidade ha no seu coração, todo o tempo maquina mal: anda semeando contendas.
Perverseness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
15 Pelo que a sua destruição virá repentinamente: subitamente será quebrantado, sem que haja cura.
Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
16 Estas seis coisas aborrece o Senhor, e sete a sua alma abomina:
These six things doth Yhwh hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 Olhos altivos, lingua mentirosa, e mãos que derramam sangue innocente:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 O coração que maquina pensamentos viciosos; pés que se apressam a correr para o mal;
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A testemunha falsa que respira mentiras: e o que semeia contendas entre irmãos.
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
20 Filho meu, guarda o mandamento de teu pae, e não deixes a lei de tua mãe;
My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
21 Ata-os perpetuamente ao teu coração, e pendura-os ao teu pescoço.
Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
22 Quando caminhares, te guiará; quando te deitares, te guardará; quando acordares, ella fallará comtigo.
When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 Porque o mandamento é uma lampada, e a lei uma luz: e as reprehensões da correcção são o caminho da vida
For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
24 Para te guardarem da má mulher, e das lisonjas da lingua estranha.
To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25 Não cubices no teu coração a sua formosura, nem te prendas com os seus olhos.
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
26 Porque por causa d'uma mulher prostituta se chega a pedir um bocado de pão; e a mulher dada a homens anda á caça da preciosa alma.
For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
27 Porventura tomará alguem fogo no seu seio, sem que os seus vestidos se queimem?
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
28 Ou andará alguem sobre as brazas, sem que se queimem os seus pés?
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
29 Assim será o que entrar á mulher do seu proximo: não ficará innocente todo aquelle que a tocar.
So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
30 Não injuriam ao ladrão, quando furta, para saciar a sua alma, tendo fome;
Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
31 Mas, achado, pagará sete vezes tanto: dará toda a fazenda de sua casa.
But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
32 Porém o que adultéra com uma mulher é falto de entendimento; destroe a sua alma, o que tal faz.
But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
33 Achará castigo e vilipendio, e o seu opprobrio nunca se apagará.
A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
34 Porque ciumes são furores do marido, e de maneira nenhuma perdoará no dia da vingança.
For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
35 Nenhum resgate acceitará, nem consentirá, ainda que augmentes os presentes.
He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
