Provérbios 5
1 Filho meu, attende á minha sabedoria: á minha intelligencia inclina o teu ouvido;
MY son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
2 Para que conserves os meus avisos e os teus beiços guardem o conhecimento.
That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3 Porque os labios da estranha distillam favos de mel, e o seu palladar é mais macio do que o azeite.
For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 Porém o seu fim é amargoso como o absinthio, agudo como a espada de dois fios.
But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. (Sheol h7585)
6 Para que não ponderes a vereda da vida, são as suas carreiras variaveis, e não saberás d'ellas.
Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
7 Agora, pois, filhos, dae-me ouvidos, e não vos desvieis das palavras da minha bocca.
Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Alonga d'ella o teu caminho, e não chegues á porta da sua casa;
Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 Para que não dês a outros a tua honra, nem os teus annos a crueis.
Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10 Para que não se fartem os estranhos do teu poder, e todos os teus afadigados trabalhos não entrem na casa do estrangeiro,
Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
11 E gemas no teu fim, consumindo-se a tua carne e o teu corpo.
And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 E digas: Como aborreci a correcção! e desprezou o meu coração a reprehensão!
And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13 E não escutei a voz dos meus ensinadores, nem a meus mestres inclinei o meu ouvido!
And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
14 Quasi que em todo o mal me achei no meio da congregação e do ajuntamento.
I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Bebe agua da tua cisterna, e das correntes do teu poço.
Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 Derramem-se por de fóra as tuas fontes, e pelas ruas os ribeiros d'aguas.
Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 Sejam para ti só, e não para os estranhos comtigo.
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.
18 Seja bemdito o teu manancial, e alegra-te da mulher da tua mocidade.
Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Como serva amorosa, e gazella graciosa, os seus peitos te saciarão em todo o tempo: e pelo seu amor sejas attrahido perpetuamente.
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
20 E porque, filho meu, andarias attrahido pela estranha, e abraçarias o seio da estrangeira?
And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 Porque os caminhos do homem estão perante os olhos do Senhor, e elle pesa todas as suas carreiras.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.
22 Quanto ao impio, as suas iniquidades o prenderão, e com as cordas do seu peccado será detido.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
23 Elle morrerá, porque sem correcção andou, e pelo excesso da sua loucura andará errado.
He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
