Provérbios 31
1 Palavras do rei Lemuel: a prophecia com que lhe ensinou a sua mãe.
The words of king Lamuel. The vision wherewith his mother instructed him.
2 Como, filho meu? e como, ó filho do meu ventre? e como, ó filho das minhas promessas?
What, O my beloved, what, O the beloved of my womb, what, O the beloved of my vows?
3 Não dês ás mulheres a tua força, nem os teus caminhos ás que destroem os reis
Give not thy substance to women, and thy riches to destroy kings.
4 Não é dos reis, ó Lemuel, não é dos reis beber vinho, nem dos principes desejar bebida forte.
Give not to kings, O Lamuel, give not wine to kings: because there is no secret where drunkenness reigneth:
5 Para que não bebam, e se esqueçam do estatuto, e pervertam o juizo de todos os afflictos.
And lest they drink and forget judgments, and pervert the cause of the children of the poor.
6 Dae bebida forte aos que perecem, e o vinho aos amargosos d'espirito:
Give strong drink to them that are sad: and wine to them that are grieved in mind:
7 Para que bebam, e se esqueçam da sua pobreza, e do seu trabalho não se lembrem mais.
Let them drink, and forget their want, and remember their sorrow no more.
8 Abre a tua bocca a favor do mudo, pelo direito de todos que vão perecendo.
Open thy mouth for the dumb, and for the causes of all the children that pass.
9 Abre a tua bocca; julga rectamente; e faze justiça aos pobres e aos necessitados.
Open thy mouth, decree that which is just, and do justice to the needy and poor.
10 Aleph. Mulher virtuosa quem a achará? porque a sua valia muito excede a de rubins.
Who shall find a valiant woman? far and from the uttermost coasts is the price of her.
11 Beth. O coração do seu marido está n'ella tão confiado que fazenda lhe não faltará.
The heart of her husband trusteth in her, and he shall have no need of spoils.
12 Gimel. Ella lhe faz bem, e não mal, todos os dias da sua vida.
She will render him good, and not evil, all the days of her life.
13 Daleth. Busca lã e linho, e trabalha com a industria de suas mãos.
She hath sought wool and flax, and hath wrought by the counsel of her hands.
14 He. É como o navio de mercador; de longe traz o seu pão.
She is like the merchant’s ship, she bringeth her bread from afar.
15 Vau. Ainda até de noite se levanta, e dá mantimento á sua casa, e ordinaria porção ás suas servas.
And she hath risen in the night, and given a prey to her household, and victuals to her maidens.
16 Zain. Considera uma herdade, e adquire-a: planta uma vinha do fructo de suas mãos.
She hath considered a field, and bought it: with the fruit of her hands she hath planted a vineyard.
17 Heth. Cinge os seus lombos de força, e corrobora os seus braços.
She hath girded her loins with strength, and hath strengthened her arm.
18 Teth. Prova e vê que é boa a sua mercancia; e a sua lampada não se apaga de noite.
She hath tasted and seen that her traffic is good: her lamp shall not be put out in the night.
19 Jod. Estende as suas mãos ao fuso, e as palmas das suas mãos pegam na roca.
She hath put out her hand to strong things, and her fingers have taken hold of the spindle.
20 Caph. Abre a sua mão ao afflicto; e ao necessitado estende as suas mãos.
She hath opened her hand to the needy, and stretched out her hands to the poor.
21 Lamed. Não temerá, por causa da neve, por sua casa, porque toda a sua casa anda forrada de roupa dobrada.
She shall not fear for her house in the cold of snow: for all her domestics are clothed with double garments.
22 Mem. Faz para si tapeçaria; de linho fino e purpura é o seu vestido.
She hath made for herself clothing of tapestry: fine linen, and purple is her covering.
23 Nun. Conhece-se o seu marido nas portas, quando se assenta com os anciãos da terra.
Her husband is honourable in the gates, when he sitteth among the senators of the land.
24 Samech. Faz pannos de linho fino, e vende-os, e dá cintas aos mercadores.
She made fine linen, and sold it, and delivered a girdle to the Chanaanite.
25 Ain. A força e a gloria são os seus vestidos, e ri-se do dia futuro.
Strength and beauty are her clothing, and she shall laugh in the latter day.
26 Pé. Abre a sua bocca com sabedoria, e a lei da beneficencia está na sua lingua.
She hath opened her mouth to wisdom, and the law of clemency is on her tongue.
27 Tsade. Attenta pelos passos de sua casa, e não come o pão da preguiça.
She hath looked well to the paths of her house, and hath not eaten her bread idle.
28 Koph. Levantam-se seus filhos, prezam-n'a por bemaventurada; como tambem seu marido, que a louva, dizendo:
Her children rose up, and called her blessed: her husband, and he praised her.
29 Res. Muitas filhas obraram virtuosamente; porém tu a todas as sobrepujas.
Many daughters have gathered together riches: thou hast surpassed them all.
30 Sin. Enganosa é a graça e vaidade a formosura, mas a mulher que teme ao Senhor essa será louvada.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: the woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Thau. Dae-lhe do fructo das suas mãos, e louvem-n'a nas portas as suas obras.
Give her of the fruit of her hands: and let her works praise her in the gates.
