Provérbios 30
1 Palavras d'Agur, filho de Jake, a prophecia: disse este varão a Ithiel; a Ithiel e a Ucal:
The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, the oracle. The man says to Ithiel, to Ithiel and Ucal:
2 Na verdade que eu sou mais brutal do que ninguem, não tenho o entendimento do homem.
Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man,
3 Nem aprendi a sabedoria, nem conheci o conhecimento dos sanctos.
and I have not learned wisdom, nor have I the knowledge of the Holy.
4 Quem subiu ao céu e desceu? quem encerrou os ventos nos seus punhos? quem amarrou as aguas n'um panno? quem estabeleceu todas as extremidades da terra? qual é o seu nome? e qual é o nome de seu filho? se é que o sabes?
Who has ascended up into heaven, and descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the waters in his garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou know?
5 Toda a palavra de Deus é pura; escudo é para os que confiam n'elle.
Every word of God is tried. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
6 Nada accrescentes ás suas palavras, para que não te reprehenda e sejas achado mentiroso.
Add thou not to his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
7 Duas coisas te pedi; não m'as negues, antes que morra:
Two things I have asked of thee, deny me not before I die:
8 Alonga de mim a vaidade e a palavra mentirosa; não me dês nem a pobreza nem a riqueza: mantem-me do pão da minha porção acostumada.
Remove far from me falsehood and lies. Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me,
9 Para que porventura de farto te não negue, e diga: Quem é o Senhor? ou que, empobrecendo, não venha a furtar, e lance mão do nome de Deus.
lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Jehovah? or lest I be poor, and steal, and use the name of my God profanely.
10 Não calumnies o servo diante de seu senhor, para que te não amaldiçoe e fiques culpado.
Slander not a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be held guilty.
11 Ha uma geração que amaldiçoa a seu pae, e que não bemdiz a sua mãe
There is a generation who curses their father, and does not bless their mother.
12 Ha uma geração que é pura aos seus olhos, e que nunca foi lavada da sua immundicia.
There is a generation who are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.
13 Ha uma geração cujos olhos são altivos, e as suas palpebras levantadas para cima.
There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes, and their eyelids are lifted up.
14 Ha uma geração cujos dentes são espadas, e cujos queixaes são facas, para consumirem da terra os afflictos, e os necessitados d'entre os homens.
There is a generation whose teeth are swords, and their jaw teeth, knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
15 A sanguesuga tem duas filhas, a saber: Dá, Dá. Estas tres coisas nunca se fartam; e quatro nunca dizem: Basta.
The leach has two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four that do not say, Enough:
16 A sepultura; a madre esteril; a terra que se não farta d'agua; e o fogo nunca diz: Basta. (Sheol h7585)
Sheol, and the barren womb, the earth that is not satisfied with water, and the fire that does not say, Enough. (Sheol h7585)
17 Os olhos que zombam do pae, ou desprezam a obediencia da mãe, corvos do ribeiro os arrancarão e os pintãos da aguia os comerão.
The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
18 Estas tres coisas me maravilham; e quatro ha que não conheço:
There are three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
19 O caminho da aguia no céu; o caminho da cobra na penha; o caminho do navio no meio do mar; e o caminho do homem com uma virgem.
The way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent upon a rock, the way of a ship in the midst of the sea, and the way of a man with a maiden.
20 Tal é o caminho da mulher adultera: ella come, e limpa a sua bocca, e diz: Não commetti maldade.
So is the way of an adulterous woman: She eats, and wipes her mouth, and says, I have done no iniquity.
21 Por tres coisas se alvoroça a terra: e por quatro, que não pode supportar:
For three things the earth trembles, and for four, which it cannot bear:
22 Pelo servo, quando reina; e pelo tolo, quando anda farto de pão:
For a servant when he is king, and a fool when he is filled with food,
23 Pela mulher aborrecida, quando se casa; e pela serva, quando ficar herdeira da sua senhora.
for a hateful woman when she is married, and a handmaid that is heir to her mistress.
24 Estas quatro coisas são das mais pequenas da terra, porém sabias, bem providas de sabedoria:
There are four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceedingly wise:
25 As formigas são um povo impotente; todavia no verão preparam a sua comida:
The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer,
26 Os coelhos são um povo debil; e comtudo põem a sua casa na penha:
the conies are but a feeble folk, yet they make their houses in the rocks,
27 Os gafanhotos não teem rei; e comtudo todos saem, e em bandos se repartem:
the locusts have no king, yet they go forth all of them by bands,
28 A aranha apanha com as mãos, e está nos paços dos reis.
the lizard takes hold with her hands, yet she is in kings' palaces.
29 Estas tres teem um bom andar, e quatro que passeiam mui bem:
There are three things which are stately in their march, yea, four which are stately in going:
30 O leão, o mais forte entre os animaes, que por ninguem torna atraz:
The lion, which is mightiest among beasts, and turns not away from any,
31 O cavallo de guerra, bem cingido pelos lombos; e o bode; e o rei a quem se não pode resistir.
the greyhound, also the he-goat, and the king against whom there is no rising up.
32 Se obraste loucamente, elevando-te, e se imaginaste o mal, põe a mão na bocca.
If thou have done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou have thought evil, lay thy hand upon thy mouth.
33 Porque o espremer do leite produz manteiga, e o espremer do nariz produz sangue, e o espremer da ira produz contenda.
For the churning of milk brings forth butter, and the wringing of the nose brings forth blood, so the forcing of wrath brings forth strife.
