Provérbios 26
1 Como a neve no verão, e como a chuva na sega, assim não convem ao louco a honra.
Like snow in summer or rain in harvest, so a fool does not deserve honor.
2 Como ao passaro o vaguear, como á andorinha o voar, assim a maldição sem causa não virá.
As the sparrow flitters and the swallow darts when they fly, so an undeserved curse does not alight.
3 O açoite para o cavallo, o freio para o jumento, e a vara para as costas dos tolos.
A whip is for the horse, a bridle is for the donkey and a rod is for the back of fools.
4 Não respondas ao tolo segundo a sua estulticia; para que tambem te não faças similhante a elle.
Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will become like him.
5 Responde ao tolo segundo a sua estulticia; para que não seja sabio aos seus olhos.
Answer a fool and join in on his folly, so he will not become wise in his own eyes.
6 Os pés corta, e o damno bebe, quem manda mensagens pela mão d'um tolo.
Whoever sends a message by the hand of a fool cuts off his own feet and drinks violence.
7 Como as pernas do côxo, que pendem frouxas, assim é o proverbio na bocca dos tolos.
Like the legs of a paralytic which hang down is a proverb in the mouth of fools.
8 Como o que ata a pedra preciosa na funda, assim é aquelle que dá honra ao tolo.
Like tying a stone in a sling is giving honor to a fool.
9 Como o espinho que entra na mão do bebado, assim é o proverbio na bocca dos tolos.
Like a thorn that goes into the hand of a drunkard is a proverb in the mouth of fools.
10 Os grandes molestam a todos, e alugam os tolos e transgressores.
Like an archer who wounds all those around him is one who hires a fool or hires anyone who passes by.
11 Como o cão que torna ao seu vomito, assim é o tolo que reitera a sua estulticia.
As a dog returns to his own vomit, so is a fool who repeats his folly.
12 Tens visto a um homem que é sabio a seus proprios olhos? maior esperança ha do tolo do que d'elle.
Do you see someone who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
13 Diz o preguiçoso: Um leão está no caminho; um leão está nas ruas
The lazy person says, “There is a lion on the road! There is a lion between the open places!”
14 Como a porta se revolve nos seus gonzos, assim o preguiçoso na sua cama.
As the door turns on its hinges, so is the lazy person upon his bed.
15 O preguiçoso esconde a sua mão no seio: enfada-se de tornal-a á sua bocca.
The lazy person puts his hand into the dish and yet he has no strength to lift it up to his mouth.
16 Mais sabio é o preguiçoso a seus olhos do que sete homens que bem respondem.
The lazy person is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who respond with good judgment.
17 O que, passando, se entremette em pleito alheio é como aquelle que toma um cão pelas orelhas.
Like one who takes hold of the ears of a dog, is a passerby who becomes angry at a dispute that is not his own.
18 Como o louco que lança de si faiscas, frechas, e mortandades,
Like a madman who shoots burning arrows,
19 Assim é o homem que engana o seu proximo, e diz: Não o fiz eu por brincar?
is the one who deceives his neighbor and says, “Was I not telling a joke?”
20 Sem lenha, o fogo se apagará; e, não havendo murmurador, cessará a contenda.
For lack of wood, the fire goes out; and where there is no gossiper quarreling ceases.
21 Como o carvão é para as brazas, e a lenha para o fogo, assim é o homem contencioso para accender rixas.
As charcoal is to burning coals and wood is to fire, so is a quarrelsome person for kindling strife.
22 As palavras do murmurador são como as palavras do espancado, e ellas descem ao intimo do ventre.
The words of a gossip are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body.
23 Como o caco coberto d'escorias de prata, assim são os labios ardentes com o coração maligno.
Like the glaze overlaying an earthen vessel so are burning lips and an evil heart.
24 Aquelle que aborrece se contrafaz pelos seus beiços, mas no seu interior encobre o engano.
One who hates others disguises his feelings with his lips and he lays up deceit within himself.
25 Quando te supplicar com a sua voz, não te fies n'elle, porque sete abominações ha no seu coração.
He will speak graciously, but do not believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart.
26 Cujo odio se encobre com engano; a sua malicia se descobrirá na congregação.
Though his hatred is covered with deception, his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
27 O que cava uma cova n'ella cairá; e o que revolve a pedra esta sobre elle tornará.
Whoever digs a pit will fall into it and the stone will roll back on the one who pushed it.
28 A lingua falsa aborrece aos que ella afflige, e a bocca lubrica obra a ruina.
A lying tongue hates the people it crushes and a flattering mouth brings about ruin.
