Provérbios 24
1 Não tenhas inveja dos homens malignos, nem desejes estar com elles,
Be not thou envious against evil men; Neither desire to be with them:
2 Porque o seu coração medita a rapina, e os seus labios fallam a malicia.
For their heart studieth oppression, And their lips talk of mischief.
3 Com a sabedoria se edifica a casa, e com a intelligencia se estabelece:
Through wisdom is a house builded; And by understanding it is established;
4 E pelo conhecimento se encherão as camaras de todas as substancias preciosas e deleitaveis.
And by knowledge are the chambers filled With all precious and pleasant riches.
5 E o varão sabio é forte, e o varão de conhecimento consolida a força.
A wise man is strong; Yea, a man of knowledge increaseth might.
6 Porque com conselhos prudentes tu farás a guerra; e ha victoria na multidão dos conselheiros.
For by wise guidance thou shalt make thy war; And in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
7 É demasiadamente alta para o tolo toda a sabedoria; na porta não abrirá a sua bocca.
Wisdom is too high for a fool: He openeth not his mouth in the gate.
8 A'quelle que cuida em fazer mal mestre de maus intentos o chamarão.
He that deviseth to do evil, Men shall call him a mischief-maker.
9 O pensamento do tolo é peccado, e é abominavel aos homens o escarnecedor.
The thought of foolishness is sin; And the scoffer is an abomination to men.
10 Se te mostrares frouxo no dia da angustia, a tua força será estreita.
If thou faint in the day of adversity, Thy strength is small.
11 Livra aos que estão tomados para a morte, e aos que levam para matança, se os poderes retirar.
Deliver them that are carried away unto death, And those that are ready to be slain see that thou hold back.
12 Se disseres: Eis que o não sabemos: porventura aquelle que pondera os corações não o entenderá? e aquelle que attenta para a tua alma não o saberá? porque pagará ao homem conforme a sua obra.
If thou sayest, Behold, we knew not this; Doth not he that weigheth the hearts consider it? And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? And shall not he render to every man according to his work?
13 Come mel, meu filho, porque é bom, e o favo de mel é doce ao teu paladar.
My son, eat thou honey, for it is good; And the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to thy taste:
14 Tal será o conhecimento da sabedoria para a tua alma: se a achares, haverá para ti galardão, e não será cortada a tua expectação.
So shalt thou know wisdom to be unto thy soul; If thou hast found it, then shall there be a reward, And thy hope shall not be cut off.
15 Não espies a habitação do justo, ó impio, nem assoles a sua camara.
Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous; Destroy not his resting-place:
16 Porque sete vezes cairá o justo, e se levantará; mas os impios tropeçarão no mal
For a righteous man falleth seven times, and riseth up again; But the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
17 Quando cair o teu inimigo, não te alegres, nem quando tropeçar se regozije o teu coração.
Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, And let not thy heart be glad when he is overthrown;
18 Para que o Senhor o não veja, e seja mau aos seus olhos, e desvie d'elle a sua ira.
Lest Jehovah see it, and it displease him, And he turn away his wrath from him.
19 Não te indignes ácerca dos malfeitores, nem tenhas inveja dos impios,
Fret not thyself because of evil-doers; Neither be thou envious at the wicked:
20 Porque o maligno não terá galardão, e a lampada dos impios se apagará.
For there shall be no reward to the evil man; The lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
21 Teme ao Senhor, filho meu, e ao rei, e não te entremettas com os que buscam mudança.
My son, fear thou Jehovah and the king; [And] company not with them that are given to change:
22 Porque de repente se levantará a sua perdição, e a ruina d'elles ambos quem a sabe?
For their calamity shall rise suddenly; And the destruction from them both, who knoweth it?
23 Tambem estes são proverbios dos sabios: Ter respeito a pessoas no juizo não é bom.
These also are [sayings] of the wise. To have respect of persons in judgment is not good.
24 O que disser ao impio: Justo és: os povos o amaldiçoarão, as nações o detestarão.
He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous, Peoples shall curse him, nations shall abhor him;
25 Mas para os que o reprehenderem haverá delicias, e sobre elles virá a benção do bem
But to them that rebuke [him] shall be delight, And a good blessing shall come upon them.
26 Beijados serão os labios do que responde com palavras rectas.
He kisseth the lips Who giveth a right answer.
27 Prepara de fóra a tua obra, e apparelha-a no campo, e então edifica a tua casa.
Prepare thy work without, And make it ready for thee in the field; And afterwards build thy house.
28 Não sejas testemunha sem causa contra o teu proximo; porque enganarias com os teus beiços?
Be not a witness against thy neighbor without cause; And deceive not with thy lips.
29 Não digas: Como elle me fez a mim, assim o farei eu a elle: pagarei a cada um segundo a sua obra.
Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.
30 Passei pelo campo do preguiçoso, e junto á vinha do homem falto de entendimento;
I went by the field of the sluggard, And by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31 E eis que toda estava cheia de cardos, e a sua superficie coberta d'ortigas, e a sua parede de pedra estava derribada.
And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, The face thereof was covered with nettles, And the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32 O que tendo eu visto, o tomei no coração, e, vendo-o, recebi instrucção.
Then I beheld, and considered well; I saw, and received instruction:
33 Um pouco de somno, adormecendo um pouco; encruzando as mãos outro pouco, para estar deitado.
[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep;
34 Assim te sobrevirá a tua pobreza como um caminhante, e a tua necessidade como um homem armado.
So shall thy poverty come as a robber, And thy want as an armed man.
