Provérbios 21
1 Como ribeiros d'aguas, assim é o coração do rei na mão do Senhor; a tudo quanto quer o inclina.
The king's heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Todo o caminho do homem é recto aos seus olhos, mas o Senhor pondera os corações.
Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3 Fazer justiça e juizo é mais acceito ao Senhor do que lhe offerecer sacrificio.
To do justice and judgment [is] more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 Altivez dos olhos, e inchação de coração, e a lavoura dos impios é peccado.
A high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.
5 Os pensamentos do diligente tendem só á abundancia, porém os de todo o apressado tão sómente á pobreza.
The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.
6 Trabalhar por ajuntar thesouro com lingua falsa é uma vaidade impellida d'aquelles que buscam a morte.
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue [is] a vanity tossed to and fro by them that seek death.
7 As rapinas dos impios os virão a destruir, porquanto recusam fazer a justiça.
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 O caminho do homem é todo perverso e estranho, porém a obra do puro é recta.
The way of man [is] froward and strange: but [as for] the pure, his work [is] right.
9 Melhor é morar n'um canto do terraço, do que com a mulher contenciosa, e isso em casa em que mais companhia haja.
[It is] better to dwell in a corner of the house-top, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 A alma do impio deseja o mal: o seu proximo lhe não agrada aos seus olhos.
The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbor findeth no favor in his eyes.
11 Castigado o escarnecedor, o simples se torna sabio; e, ensinado o sabio, recebe o conhecimento.
When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 Prudentemente considera o justo a casa do impio, quando Deus transtorna os impios para o mal.
The righteous [man] wisely considereth the house of the wicked: [but God] overthroweth the wicked for [their] wickedness.
13 O que tapa o seu ouvido ao clamor do pobre elle tambem clamará e não será ouvido.
Whoever stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 O presente que se dá em segredo abate a ira, e a dadiva no seio a grande indignação.
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom, strong wrath.
15 O fazer justiça é alegria para o justo, mas espanto para os que obram a iniquidade.
[It is] joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
16 O homem, que anda errado do caminho do entendimento, na congregação dos mortos repousará.
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 Necessidade padecerá o que ama a galhofa: o que ama o vinho e o azeite nunca enriquecerá.
He that loveth pleasure [shall be] a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 O resgate do justo é o impio; o do recto o iniquo.
The wicked [shall be] a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 Melhor é morar n'uma terra deserta do que com a mulher contenciosa e iracunda.
[It is] better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 Thesouro desejavel e azeite ha na casa do sabio, mas o homem insensato o devora.
[There is] a treasure to be desired, and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 O que segue a justiça e a beneficencia achará a vida, a justiça e a honra.
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honor.
22 Á cidade dos fortes sobe o sabio, e derruba a força da sua confiança.
A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of its confidence.
23 O que guarda a sua bocca e a sua lingua, guarda das angustias a sua alma.
Whoever keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 O soberbo e presumido, zombador é seu nome: trata com indignação e soberba.
Proud [and] haughty scorner [is] his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 O desejo do preguiçoso o mata, porque as suas mãos recusam trabalhar.
The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labor.
26 Todo o dia deseja coisas de cubiçar, mas o justo dá, e nada retem.
He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 O sacrificio dos impios é abominação: quanto mais offerecendo-o com intenção maligna?
The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination: how much more, [when] he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 A testemunha mentirosa perecerá, porém o homem que ouve com constancia fallará.
A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 O homem impio endurece o seu rosto, mas o recto considera o seu caminho.
A wicked man hardeneth his face: but [as for] the upright, he directeth his way.
30 Não ha sabedoria, nem intelligencia, nem conselho contra o Senhor.
[There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31 O cavallo prepara-se para o dia da batalha, porém do Senhor vem a victoria.
The horse [is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety [is] from the LORD.
