Provérbios 2
1 Filho meu, se acceitares as minhas palavras, e esconderes comtigo os meus mandamentos,
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 Para fazeres attento á sabedoria o teu ouvido, e inclinares o teu coração ao entendimento,
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, [and] apply thine heart to understanding;
3 E se clamares por entendimento, e por intelligencia alçares a tua voz,
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, [and] liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 Se como a prata a buscares e como a thesouros escondidos a esquadrinhares,
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as [for] hid treasures;
5 Então entenderás o temor do Senhor, e acharás o conhecimento de Deus.
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 Porque o Senhor é o que dá a sabedoria: da sua bocca é que sae o conhecimento e o entendimento.
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and understanding.
7 Elle reserva a verdadeira sabedoria para os rectos: escudo é para os que caminham na sinceridade.
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: [he is] a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 Para que guardem as veredas do juizo: e elle o caminho dos seus sanctos conservará.
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Então entenderás justiça, e juizo, e equidades, e todas as boas veredas,
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; [yea], every good path.
10 Quando a sabedoria entrar no teu coração, e o conhecimento fôr suave á tua alma.
When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 O bom siso te guardará e a intelligencia te conservará;
Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12 Para te fazer escapar do mau caminho, e do homem que falla coisas perversas.
To deliver thee from the way of the evil [man], from the man that speaketh froward things;
13 Dos que deixam as veredas da rectidão, para andarem pelos caminhos das trevas.
Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 Que se alegram de mal fazer, e folgam com as perversidades dos maus.
Who rejoice to do evil, [and] delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15 Cujas veredas são tortuosas e que se desviam nas suas carreiras,
Whose ways [are] crooked, and [they] froward in their paths:
16 Para te fazer escapar da mulher estranha, e da estrangeira que lisongeia com suas palavras.
To deliver thee from the strange woman, [even] from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words;
17 Que deixa o guia da sua mocidade e se esquece do concerto do seu Deus.
Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
18 Porque a sua casa se inclina para a morte, e as suas veredas para os defuntos.
For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
19 Todos os que entrarem a ella não tornarão a sair, e não atinarão com as veredas da vida.
None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
20 Para andares pelo caminho dos bons, e guardares as veredas dos justos.
That thou mayest walk in the way of good [men], and keep the paths of the righteous.
21 Porque os rectos habitarão a terra, e os sinceros permanecerão n'ella.
For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22 Mas os impios serão arrancados da terra, e os aleivosos serão d'ella exterminados.
But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
