Provérbios 19
1 Melhor é o pobre que anda na sua sinceridade, do que o perverso de labios e tolo:
Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity Than he that is perverse in his lips and is a fool.
2 Assim como ficar a alma sem conhecimento não é bom, e o apressado nos pés pecca.
Also, that the soul be without knowledge is not good; And he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
3 A estulticia do homem perverterá o seu caminho, e o seu coração se irará contra o Senhor.
The foolishness of man subverteth his way; And his heart fretteth against Jehovah.
4 As riquezas grangeiam muitos amigos, mas ao pobre o seu proprio amigo o deixa.
Wealth addeth many friends; But the poor is separated from his friend.
5 A falsa testemunha não ficará innocente, e o que respira mentiras não escapará.
A false witness shall not be unpunished; And he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
6 Muitos supplicam a face do principe, e cada um é amigo d'aquelle que dá dadivas.
Many will entreat the favor of the liberal man; And every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
7 Todos os irmãos do pobre o aborrecem; quanto mais se alongarão d'elles os seus amigos! corre d'após elles com palavras, que não servem de nada.
All the brethren of the poor do hate him: How much more do his friends go far from him! He pursueth [them with] words, [but] they are gone.
8 O que adquire entendimento ama a sua alma: o que guarda intelligencia achará o bem.
He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: He that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9 A falsa testemunha não ficará innocente; e o que respira mentiras perecerá.
A false witness shall not be unpunished; And he that uttereth lies shall perish.
10 Ao tolo não está bem o deleite; quanto menos ao servo dominar os principes!
Delicate living is not seemly for a fool; Much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 O entendimento do homem retem a sua ira, e a sua gloria é passar sobre a transgressão.
The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger; And it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 Como o bramido do filho do leão, é a indignação do rei; mas como o orvalho sobre a herva é a sua benevolencia.
The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; But his favor is as dew upon the grass.
13 Grande miseria é para o pae o filho insensato, e um gotejar continuo as contenções da mulher.
A foolish son is the calamity of his father; And the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14 A casa e a fazenda são a herança dos paes; porém do Senhor vem a mulher prudente.
House and riches are an inheritance from fathers; But a prudent wife is from Jehovah.
15 A preguiça faz cair em profundo somno, e a alma enganadora padecerá fome.
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; And the idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 O que guardar o mandamento guardará a sua alma; porém o que desprezar os seus caminhos morrerá.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul; [But] he that is careless of his ways shall die.
17 Ao Senhor empresta o que se compadece do pobre, e elle lhe pagará o seu beneficio.
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto Jehovah, And his good deed will he pay him again.
18 Castiga a teu filho emquanto ha esperança, porém para o matar não alçarás a tua alma
Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; And set not thy heart on his destruction.
19 O que é de grande indignação supportará o damno; porque se tu o livrares, ainda terás de tornar a fazel-o.
A man of great wrath shall bear the penalty; For if thou deliver [him], thou must do it yet again.
20 Ouve o conselho, e recebe a correcção, para que sejas sabio nos teus ultimos dias.
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 Muitos propositos ha no coração do homem, porém o conselho do Senhor permanecerá.
There are many devices in a man’s heart; But the counsel of Jehovah, that shall stand.
22 O desejo do homem é a sua beneficencia; porém o pobre é melhor do que o mentiroso.
That which maketh a man to be desired is his kindness; And a poor man is better than a liar.
23 O temor do Senhor encaminha para a vida; aquelle que o tem ficará satisfeito, e não o visitará mal nenhum.
The fear of Jehovah [tendeth] to life; And he [that hath it] shall abide satisfied; He shall not be visited with evil.
24 O preguiçoso esconde a sua mão no seio; enfada-se de tornal-a á sua bocca.
The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 Fere o escarnecedor, e o simples tomará aviso; reprehende ao entendido, e aprenderá conhecimento.
Smite a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; And reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will understand knowledge.
26 O que afflige a seu pae, ou afugenta a sua mãe, filho é que traz vergonha e deshonra.
He that doeth violence to his father, and chaseth away his mother, Is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.
27 Cessa, filho meu, ouvindo a instrucção, de te desviares das palavras do conhecimento.
Cease, my son, to hear instruction [Only] to err from the words of knowledge.
28 A testemunha de Belial escarnece do juizo, e a bocca dos impios engole a iniquidade.
A worthless witness mocketh at justice; And the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity.
29 Preparados estão os juizos para os escarnecedores e açoites para as costas dos tolos.
Judgments are prepared for scoffers, And stripes for the back of fools.
