Números 24
1 Vendo Balaão que bem parecia aos olhos do Senhor que abençoasse a Israel, não se foi esta vez como d'antes ao encontro dos encantamentos: mas poz o seu rosto para o deserto.
When Balaam saw that it pleased Yahweh to bless Israel, he did not go, as at the other times, to use sorcery. Instead, he looked toward the wilderness.
2 E, levantando Balaão os seus olhos, e vendo a Israel, que habitava segundo as suas tribus, veiu sobre elle o Espirito de Deus.
He raised his eyes and saw that Israel was camped, each in their own tribe, and the Spirit of God came on him.
3 E alçou a sua parabola, e disse: Falla, Balaão, filho de Beor, e falla o homem d'olhos abertos;
He received this prophecy and said, “Balaam son of Beor is about to speak, the man whose eyes are wide open.
4 Falla aquelle que ouviu os ditos de Deus, o que vê a visão do Todo-poderoso caido em extasis e d'olhos abertos:
He speaks and hears God's words. He sees a vision from the Almighty, Before whom he bows down with his eyes open.
5 Que boas são as tuas tendas, ó Jacob! as tuas moradas ó Israel.
How beautiful are your tents, Jacob, the place where you live, Israel!
6 Como ribeiros se estendam, como jardins ao pé dos rios: como arvores de sandalo o Senhor os plantou, como cedros junto ás aguas,
Like valleys they spread out, like gardens by the riverside, like aloes planted by Yahweh, like cedars beside the waters.
7 De seus baldes manarão aguas, e a sua semente estará em muitas aguas: e o seu rei se exalçará mais do que Agag, e o seu reino será levantado.
Water flows from their buckets, and their seed is well-watered. Their king is to be higher than Agag, and their kingdom will be honored.
8 Deus o tirou do Egypto; as suas forças são como as do unicornio: consumirá as gentes, seus inimigos, e quebrará seus ossos, e com as suas settas os atravessará.
God brings him out of Egypt, with strength like a wild ox. He will eat up the nations who fight against him. He will break their bones to pieces. He will shoot them with his arrows.
9 Encurvou-se, deitou-se como leão, e como leoa: quem o despertará? bemditos os que te abençoarem, e malditos os que te amaldiçoarem.
He crouches down like a lion, like a lioness. Who dares disturb him? May everyone who blesses him be blessed; may everyone who curses him be cursed.”
10 Então a ira de Balac se accendeu contra Balaão, e bateu elle as suas palmas: e Balac disse a Balaão: Para amaldiçoar os meus inimigos te tenho chamado; porém agora já tres vezes os abençoaste inteiramente.
Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam and he struck his hands together in anger. Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, but look, you have blessed them three times.
11 Agora pois foge para o ten logar: eu tinha dito que te honraria grandemente; mas eis que o Senhor te privou d'esta honra.
So leave me right now and go home. I said I would greatly reward you, but Yahweh has kept you from getting any reward.”
12 Então Balaão disse a Balac: Não fallei eu tambem aos teus mensageiros, que me enviaste, dizendo:
Then Balaam replied to Balak, “I said to the messengers that you sent to me,
13 Ainda que Balac me désse a sua casa cheia de prata e oiro, não posso traspassar o mandado do Senhor, fazendo bem ou mal de meu proprio coração: o que o Senhor fallar, isso fallarei eu.
'Even if Balak gave me his palace full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond Yahweh's word and anything bad or good, or anything at all that I might want to do. I can say only what Yahweh tells me to say.' Did I not say this to them?
14 Agora pois eis que me vou ao meu povo: vem, avisar-te-hei do que este povo fará ao teu povo nos ultimos dias.
So now, look, I will go back to my people. But first let me warn you what this people will do to your people in the days ahead.”
15 Então alçou a sua parabola, e disse: Falla Balaão, filho de Beor, e falla o homem d'olhos abertos;
Balaam began this prophecy. He said, “Balaam son of Beor speaks, The man whose eyes are wide open.
16 Falla aquelle que ouviu os ditos de Deus, e o que sabe a sciencia do Altissimo: o que viu a visão do Todo Poderoso, caido em extasis, e d'olhos abertos:
This is a prophecy of someone who hears words from God, who has knowledge from the Most High, who has visions from the Almighty, Before whom he bows down with open eyes.
17 Vel-o-hei, mas não agora contemplal-o-hei mas não de perto: uma estrella procederá de Jacob, e um sceptro subirá de Israel, que ferirá os termos dos moabitas, e destruirá todos os filhos de Seth.
I see him, but he is not here now. I look at him, but he is not near. A star will come out of Jacob, and a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will shatter Moab's leaders and destroy all the descendants of Seth.
18 E Edom será uma possessão, e Seir tambem será uma possessão hereditaria para os seus inimigos: pois Israel fará proezas.
Then Edom will become a possession of Israel, and Seir will also become their possession, enemies of Israel, whom Israel will conquer with force.
19 E dominará um de Jacob, e matará os que restam das cidades.
Out of Jacob a king will come who will have dominion, and he will destroy the survivors of their city.”
20 E vendo os amalequitas, alçou a sua parabola, e disse: Amalek é o primeiro das gentes; porém o seu fim será para perdição.
Then Balaam looked at Amalek and began his prophecy. He said, “Amalek was once the greatest of nations, but his final end will be destruction.”
21 E vendo os quenitas, alçou a sua parabola, e disse: Firme está a tua habitação, e pozeste o teu ninho na penha.
Then Balaam looked toward the Kenites and began his prophecy. He said, “The place where you live is strong, and your nest is in the rocks.
22 Todavia o quenita será consumido, até que Assur te leve por prisioneiro.
Nevertheless you Kenites will be consumed by fire when Assyria carries you away captive.”
23 E, alçando ainda a sua parabola, disse: Ai, quem viverá, quando Deus fizer isto?
Then Balaam began his final prophecy. He said, “Woe! Who will survive when God does this?
24 E as naus das costas de Chittim affligirão a Assur; tambem affligirão a Heber; e tambem elle será para perdição.
Ships will come from the coast of Kittim; they will attack Assyria and will conquer Eber, but they, too, will end in destruction.”
25 Então Balaão levantou-se, e foi-se, e voltou ao seu logar, e tambem Balac foi-se pelo seu caminho.
Then Balaam got up and left. He returned to his home, and Balak also went away.
