Miquéias 6
1 Ouvi agora o que diz o Senhor: Levanta-te, contende com os montes, e ouçam os outeiros a tua voz.
Listen to what the Lord is saying. Stand up and plead your case. Let the mountains and the hills hear your voice.
2 Ouvi montes, a contenda do Senhor, e vós, fortes fundamentos da terra; porque o Senhor tem uma contenda com o seu povo, e com Israel entrará em juizo.
And now, mountains, hear the Lord's argument. Listen, everlasting foundations of the earth, for the Lord has a case against his people. He will bring charges against Israel.
3 Ó povo meu; que te tenho feito? e com que te enfadei? testifica contra mim.
My people, what have I done to you? What is it that I have done to make you tired of me?
4 Certamente te fiz subir da terra do Egypto e da casa da servidão te remi; e enviei adiante de ti a Moysés, Aarão e Miriam.
For I brought you out of the land of Egypt and rescued you from slavery. I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam to lead you.
5 Povo meu, ora lembra-te do que consultou Balak, rei de Moab, e o que lhe respondeu Balaão, filho de Beor, desde Sittim até Gilgal; para que conheças as justiças do Senhor.
My people, remember what Balak, king of Moab, planned to do, and what Balaam, son of Beor, told him, and what happened from Shittim to Gilgal, so you could know all the good things the Lord does.
6 Com que coisa encontrarei ao Senhor, e me inclinarei ao Deus altissimo? encontral-o-hei com holocaustos? com bezerros de um anno?
What should I take with me when I approach the Lord, when I bow down before the God of heaven? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?
7 Agradar-se-ha o Senhor de milhares de carneiros? de dez mil ribeiros de azeite? darei o meu primogenito pela minha transgressão? o fructo do meu ventre pelo peccado da minha alma?
Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Shall I sacrifice my firstborn child for my rebellion, my own flesh and blood for the sins I have committed?
8 Elle te declarou, ó homem, o que é bom; e que é o que o Senhor pede de ti, senão que pratiques a justiça, e ames a beneficencia, e andes humildemente com o teu Deus
The Lord has told you what is good, and what the Lord asks from you: to do what is right, to love kindness, and to walk in humility with your God.
9 A voz do Senhor clama á cidade (porque o teu nome vê a inteireza): Ouvi a vara, e a quem a ordenou.
The voice of the Lord calls to the city—to respect your name is to be wise—pay attention to the rod and who summoned it.
10 Ainda ha na casa do impio thesouros da impiedade? e epha pequena, que é detestavel?
Are there still ill-gotten gains in the houses of the wicked? Are they still using dishonest measures in selling grain?
11 Seria eu limpo com balanças falsas? e com uma bolsa de pesos enganosos?
How can I accept those who use unfair scales and dishonest weights?
12 Porque os seus ricos estão cheios de violencia, e os seus habitantes fallam mentiras; e a sua lingua é enganosa na sua bocca.
Your rich people make money by using violence; they tell lies and practice deceit.
13 Assim eu tambem te enfraquecerei, ferindo-te e assolando-te por causa dos teus peccados.
So I will strike you to make you ill; I will ruin you because of your sins.
14 Tu comerás, mas não te fartarás; e a tua humilhação estará no meio de ti; e tu removerás, mas não livrarás; e aquillo que livrares, eu o entregarei á espada
You will eat, but never be satisfied; inside you will still feel hungry. Even though you try to save money, what you save won't be worth anything because I will give it to the sword.
15 Tu semearás, mas não segarás: pisarás a azeitona, mas não te ungirás com azeite; e o mosto, mas não beberás vinho.
You will sow, but you won't reap; you will press your olives, but not use the oil; you will make your wine, but drink none of it.
16 Porque se guardaram os estatutos de Omri, e toda a obra da casa de Acab, e vós andaes nos conselhos d'elles; para que eu te faça uma desolação, e dos seus habitantes um assobio: assim trareis sobre vós o opprobrio do meu povo
You have kept the laws of Omri, and adopted all the practices of the house of Ahab, you have followed their ways. So I will make your country desolate and the people who live there an object of scorn; you will bear the shame of my people.
