Mateus 5
1 E Jesus, vendo a multidão, subiu a um monte, e, assentando-se, approximaram-se d'elle os seus discipulos:
Seeing the multitude of people, Jesus went up the Hill. There He seated Himself, and when His disciples came to Him,
2 E, abrindo a sua bocca, os ensinava, dizendo:
He proceeded to teach them, and said:
3 Bemaventurados os pobres de espirito, porque d'elles é o reino dos céus;
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for to them belongs the Kingdom of the Heavens.
4 Bemaventurados os que choram, porque elles serão consolados;
"Blessed are the mourners, for they shall be comforted.
5 Bemaventurados os mansos, porque elles herdarão a terra;
"Blessed are the meek, for they as heirs shall obtain possession of the earth.
6 Bemaventurados os que teem fome e sêde de justiça, porque elles serão fartos;
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be completely satisfied.
7 Bemaventurados os misericordiosos, porque elles alcançarão misericordia;
"Blessed are the compassionate, for they shall receive compassion.
8 Bemaventurados os limpos de coração, porque elles verão a Deus;
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 Bemaventurados os pacificadores, porque elles serão chamados filhos de Deus;
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for it is they who will be recognized as sons of God.
10 Bemaventurados os que soffrem perseguição por causa da justiça, porque d'elles é o reino dos céus;
"Blessed are those who have borne persecution in the cause of Righteousness, for to them belongs the Kingdom of the Heavens.
11 Bemaventurados sois vós, quando vos injuriarem e perseguirem, e, mentindo, fallarem todo o mal contra vós por minha causa.
"Blessed are you when they have insulted and persecuted you, and have said every cruel thing about you falsely for my sake.
12 Exultae e alegrae-vos, porque é grande o vosso galardão nos céus; porque assim perseguiram os prophetas que foram antes de vós.
Be joyful and triumphant, because your reward is great in the Heavens; for so were the Prophets before you persecuted.
13 Vós sois o sal da terra; e se o sal fôr insipido, com que se ha de salgar? para nada mais presta senão para se lançar fóra, e ser pisado pelos homens.
"You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has become tasteless, in what way can it regain its saltness? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown away and trodden on by the passers by.
14 Vós sois a luz do mundo: não se pode esconder uma cidade edificada sobre um monte,
You are the light of the world; a town cannot be hid if built on a hill-top.
15 Nem se accende a candeia e se colloca debaixo do alqueire, mas no velador, e dá luz a todos que estão na casa.
Nor is a lamp lighted to be put under a bushel, but on the lampstand; and then it gives light to all in the house.
16 Assim resplandeça a vossa luz diante dos homens, para que vejam as vossas boas obras, e glorifiquem a vosso Pae, que está nos céus.
Just so let your light shine before all men, in order that they may see your holy lives and may give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.
17 Não cuideis que vim destruir a lei ou os prophetas: não vim a derogar, mas a cumprir.
"Do not for a moment suppose that I have come to abrogate the Law or the Prophets: I have not come to abrogate them but to give them their completion.
18 Porque em verdade vos digo, que, até que o céu e a terra passem, nem um jota nem um só til se omittirá da lei, sem que tudo seja cumprido.
Solemnly I tell you that until Heaven and earth pass away, not one iota or smallest detail will pass away from the Law until all has taken place.
19 Qualquer pois que violar um d'estes mais pequenos mandamentos, e assim ensinar aos homens, será chamado o menor no reino dos céus; aquelle, porém, que os cumprir e ensinar será chamado grande no reino dos céus.
Whoever therefore breaks one of these least commandments and teaches others to break them, will be called the least in the Kingdom of the Heavens; but whoever practises them and teaches them, he will be acknowledged as great in the Kingdom of the Heavens.
20 Porque vos digo que, se a vossa justiça não exceder a dos escribas e phariseos, de modo nenhum entrareis no reino dos céus.
For I assure you that unless your righteousness greatly surpasses that of the Scribes and the Pharisees, you will certainly not find entrance into the Kingdom of the Heavens.
21 Ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não matarás; mas qualquer que matar será réu de juizo.
"You have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'Thou shalt not commit murder', and whoever commits murder will be answerable to the magistrate.
22 Eu vos digo, porém, que qualquer que, sem motivo, se encolerisar contra seu irmão, será réu de juizo; e qualquer que disser a seu irmão: Raca, será réu do synhedrio; qualquer que lhe disser: Louco, será réu do fogo do inferno. (Geenna g1067)
But I say to you that every one who becomes angry with his brother shall be answerable to the magistrate; that whoever says to his brother 'Raca,' shall be answerable to the Sanhedrin; and that whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be liable to the Gehenna of Fire. (Geenna g1067)
23 Portanto, se trouxeres a tua offerta ao altar, e ahi te lembrares de que teu irmão tem alguma coisa contra ti,
If therefore when you are offering your gift upon the altar, you remember that your brother has a grievance against you,
24 Deixa ali diante do altar a tua offerta, e vae, reconcilia-te primeiro com teu irmão, e depois vem e apresenta a tua offerta.
leave your gift there before the altar, and go and make friends with your brother first, and then return and proceed to offer your gift.
25 Concilia-te depressa com o teu adversario, emquanto estás no caminho com elle, para que não aconteça que o adversario te entregue ao juiz, e o juiz te entregue ao ministro, e te encerrem na prisão.
Come to terms without delay with your opponent while you are yet with him on the way to the court; for fear he should obtain judgement from the magistrate against you, and the magistrate should give you in custody to the officer and you be thrown into prison.
26 Em verdade te digo que de maneira nenhuma sairás d'ali emquanto não pagares o ultimo ceitil.
I solemnly tell you that you will certainly not be released till you have paid the very last farthing.
27 Ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não commetterás adulterio.
"You have heard that it was said, 'Thou shalt not commit adultery.'
28 Eu vos digo, porém, que qualquer que attentar n'uma mulher para a cobiçar, já em seu coração commetteu adulterio com ella
But I tell you that whoever looks at a woman and cherishes lustful thoughts has already in his heart become guilty with regard to her.
29 Portanto, se o teu olho direito te escandalizar, arranca-o e atira-o para longe de ti, pois te é melhor que se perca um dos teus membros, do que todo o teu corpo seja lançado no inferno. (Geenna g1067)
If therefore your eye, even the right eye, is a snare to you, tear it out and away with it; it is better for you that one member should be destroyed rather than that your whole body should be thrown into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
30 E, se a tua mão direita te escandalizar, corta-a e atira-a para longe de ti, porque te é melhor que um dos teus membros se perca, do que todo o teu corpo seja lançado no inferno. (Geenna g1067)
And if your right hand is a snare to you, cut it off and away with it; it is better for you that one member should be destroyed rather than that your whole body should go into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
31 Tambem foi dito: Qualquer que deixar sua mulher, dê-lhe carta de desquite.
"It was also said, 'If any man puts away his wife, let him give her a written notice of divorce.'
32 Eu, porém, vos digo que qualquer que repudiar sua mulher, sem ser por causa de fornicação, faz que ella commetta adulterio, e qualquer que casar com a repudiada commette adulterio.
But I tell you that every man who puts away his wife except on the ground of unfaithfulness causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries her when so divorced commits adultery.
33 Outrosim, ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não perjurarás, mas cumprirás teus juramentos ao Senhor.
"Again, you have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'Thou shalt not swear falsely, but shalt perform thy vows to the Lord.'
34 Eu vos digo, porém, que de maneira nenhuma jureis: nem pelo céu, porque é o throno de Deus;
But I tell you not to swear at all; neither by Heaven, for it is God's throne;
35 Nem pela terra, porque é o escabello de seus pés; nem por Jerusalem, porque é a cidade do grande Rei;
nor by the earth, for it is the footstool under His feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the City of the Great King.
36 Nem jurarás pela tua cabeça, porque não podes fazer um cabello branco ou preto.
And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.
37 Seja, porém, o vosso fallar: Sim, sim, Não, não, porque o que passa d'isto é de procedencia maligna.
But let your language be, 'Yes, yes,' or 'No, no.' Anything in excess of this comes from the Evil one.
38 Ouvistes que foi dito: Olho por olho, e dente por dente.
"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.'
39 Eu vos digo, porém, que não resistaes ao mal; mas, se qualquer te bater na face direita, offerece-lhe tambem a outra;
But I tell you not to resist a wicked man, but if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well.
40 E ao que quizer pleitear comtigo, e tirar-te o vestido, larga-lhe tambem a capa;
If any one wishes to go to law with you and to deprive you of your under garment, let him take your outer one also.
41 E, se qualquer te obrigar a caminhar uma milha, vae com elle duas.
And whoever shall compel you to convey his goods one mile, go with him two.
42 Dá a quem te pedir, e não te desvies d'aquelle que quizer que lhe emprestes.
To him who asks, give: from him who would borrow, turn not away.
43 Ouvistes que foi dito: Amarás o teu proximo, e aborrecerás o teu inimigo.
"You have heard that it was said, 'Thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy.'
44 Eu vos digo, porém: Amae a vossos inimigos, bemdizei os que vos maldizem, fazei bem aos que vos odeiam, e orae pelos que vos maltratam e vos perseguem;
But I command you all, love your enemies, and pray for your persecutors;
45 Para que sejaes filhos do vosso Pae que está nos céus; porque faz que o seu sol se levante sobre os maus e os bons, e a chuva desça sobre os justos e os injustos.
that so you may become true sons of your Father in Heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the wicked as well as the good, and sends rain upon those who do right and those who do wrong.
46 Pois, se amardes os que vos amam, que galardão havereis? não fazem os publicanos tambem o mesmo?
For if you love only those who love you, what reward have you earned? Do not even the tax-gatherers do that?
47 E, se saudardes unicamente os vossos irmãos, que fazeis de mais? não fazem os publicanos tambem assim?
And if you salute only your near relatives, what praise is due to you? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?
48 Sêde vós pois perfeitos, como é perfeito o vosso Pae que está nos céus.
You however are to be complete in goodness, as your Heavenly Father is complete.
