Mateus 26
1 E aconteceu que, quando Jesus concluiu todos estes discursos, disse aos seus discipulos:
When Jesus had ended all these discourses, He said to His disciples,
2 Bem sabeis que d'aqui a dois dias é a paschoa; e o Filho do homem será entregue para ser crucificado.
"You know that in two days' time the Passover comes. And the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified."
3 Então os principes dos sacerdotes, e os escribas, e os anciãos do povo reuniram-se na sala do summo sacerdote, o qual se chamava Caiphás,
Then the High Priests and Elders of the People assembled in the court of the palace of the High Priest Caiaphas,
4 E consultaram-se juntamente para prenderem Jesus com dolo e o matarem.
and consulted how to get Jesus into their power by stratagem and put Him to death.
5 Porém diziam: Não durante a festa, para que não haja alvoroço entre o povo.
But they said, "Not during the Festival, lest there be a riot among the people."
6 E, estando Jesus em Bethania, em casa de Simão, o leproso,
Now when Jesus was come to Bethany and was at the house of Simon the Leper,
7 Approximou-se d'elle uma mulher com um vaso d'alabastro, com unguento de grande valor, e derramou-lh'o sobre a cabeça, estando elle assentado á mesa.
a woman came to Him with a jar of very costly, sweet-scented ointment, which she poured over His head as He reclined at table.
8 E os seus discipulos, vendo isto, indignaram-se, dizendo: Porque se faz este desperdicio?
"Why such waste?" indignantly exclaimed the disciples;
9 Pois este unguento podia vender-se por grande preço, e dar-se o dinheiro aos pobres.
"for this might have been sold for a considerable sum, and the money given to the poor."
10 Jesus, porém, conhecendo isto, disse-lhes: Porque affligis esta mulher? pois praticou uma boa acção para comigo.
But Jesus heard it, and said to them, "Why are you vexing her? For she has done a most gracious act towards me.
11 Porquanto sempre tendes comvosco os pobres, mas a mim não me haveis de ter sempre.
The poor you always have with you, but me you have not always.
12 Ora, derramando ella este unguento sobre o meu corpo, fel-o preparando-me para o meu enterramento.
In pouring this ointment over me, her object was to prepare me for burial.
13 Em verdade vos digo que, onde quer que este Evangelho fôr prégado, em todo o mundo, tambem será dito o que ella fez, para memoria sua.
In solemn truth I tell you that wherever in the whole world this Good News shall be proclaimed, this deed of hers shall be spoken of in memory of her."
14 Então um dos doze chamado Judas Iscariotes, foi ter com os principes dos sacerdotes,
At that time one of the Twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the High Priests
15 E disse: Que me quereis dar, e eu vol-o entregarei? E elles lhe arbitraram trinta moedas de prata,
and said, "What are you willing to give me if I betray him to you?" So they weighed out to him thirty shekels,
16 E desde então buscava opportunidade para o entregar.
and from that moment he was on the look out for an opportunity to betray Him.
17 E, no primeiro dia da festa dos pães asmos, chegaram os discipulos junto de Jesus, dizendo: Onde queres que te preparemos o necessario para comer a paschoa?
On the first day of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus with the question, "Where shall we make preparations for you to eat the Passover?"
18 E elle disse: Ide á cidade a um certo homem, e dizei-lhe: O Mestre diz: O meu tempo está proximo; em tua casa celebro a paschoa com os meus discipulos.
"Go into the city," He replied, "to a certain man, and tell him, 'The Teacher says, My time is close at hand. It is at your house that I shall keep the Passover with my disciples.'"
19 E os discipulos fizeram como Jesus lhes ordenara, e prepararam a paschoa.
The disciples did as Jesus directed them, and got the Passover ready.
20 E, chegada a tarde, assentou-se á mesa com os doze.
When evening came, He was at table with the twelve disciples,
21 E, comendo elles, disse: Em verdade vos digo que um de vós me ha de trahir.
and the meal was proceeding, when Jesus said, "In solemn truth I tell you that one of you will betray me."
22 E elles, entristecendo-se muito, começaram cada um a dizer-lhe: Porventura sou eu, Senhor?
Intensely grieved they began one after another to ask Him, "Can it be I, Master?"
23 E elle, respondendo, disse: O que mette a mão no prato comigo, esse me ha de trahir.
"The one who has dipped his fingers in the bowl with me," He answered, "is the man who will betray me.
24 Em verdade o Filho do homem vae, como ácerca d'elle está escripto, mas ai d'aquelle homem por quem o Filho do homem é trahido! bom seria a esse homem se não houvera nascido.
The Son of Man is indeed going as is written concerning Him; but alas for that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It had been a happy thing for that man if he had never been born."
25 E, respondendo Judas, o que o trahia, disse: Porventura sou eu, Rabbi? Elle disse: Tu o disseste.
Then Judas, the disciple who was betraying Him, asked, "Can it be I, Rabbi?" "It is you," He replied.
26 E, quando comiam, Jesus tomou o pão, e, abençoando-o, o partiu, e o deu aos discipulos, e disse: Tomae, comei, isto é o meu corpo.
During the meal Jesus took a Passover biscuit, blessed it and broke it. He then gave it to the disciples, saying, "Take this and eat it: it is my body."
27 E, tomando o calix, e dando graças, deu-lh'o, dizendo: Bebei d'elle todos;
And He took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them saying, "Drink from it, all of you;
28 Porque isto é o meu sangue, o sangue do Novo Testamento, que é derramado por muitos, para remissão dos peccados.
for this is my blood which is to be poured out for many for the remission of sins--the blood which ratifies the Covenant.
29 E digo-vos que, desde agora, não beberei d'este fructo da vide até áquelle dia em que o beber de novo comvosco no reino de meu Pae.
I tell you that I will never again take the produce of the vine till that day when I shall drink the new wine with you in my Father's Kingdom."
30 E, tendo cantado o hymno, sairam para o monte das Oliveiras.
So they sang the hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Então Jesus lhes disse: Todos vós esta noite vos escandalizareis em mim; porque está escripto: Ferirei o pastor, e as ovelhas do rebanho se dispersarão.
Then said Jesus, "This night all of you will stumble and fail in your fidelity to me; for it is written, 'I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered in all directions.'
32 Mas, depois de eu resuscitar, irei adiante de vós para a Galilea.
But after I have risen to life again I will go before you into Galilee."
33 Pedro, porém, respondendo, disse-lhe: Ainda que todos se escandalizem em ti, eu nunca me escandalizarei.
"All may stumble and fail," said Peter, "but I never will."
34 Disse-lhe Jesus: Em verdade te digo que, n'esta mesma noite, antes que o gallo cante, tres vezes me negarás.
"In solemn truth I tell you," replied Jesus, "that this very night, before the cock crows, you will three times disown me."
35 Disse-lhe Pedro: Ainda que me seja mister morrer comtigo, não te negarei. E o mesmo todos os discipulos disseram.
"Even if I must die with you," declared Peter, "I will never disown you." In like manner protested all the disciples.
36 Então chegou Jesus com elles a um logar chamado Gethsemane, e disse aos discipulos: Assentae-vos aqui, emquanto vou além, a orar.
Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane. And He said to the disciples, "Sit down here, whilst I go yonder and there pray."
37 E, levando comsigo Pedro e os dois filhos de Zebedeo, começou a entristecer-se e a angustiar-se muito.
And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zabdi. Then He began to be full of anguish and distress,
38 Então lhes disse: A minha alma está cheia de tristeza até á morte; ficae aqui, e velae comigo.
and He said to them, "My soul is crushed with anguish to the very point of death; wait here, and keep awake with me."
39 E, indo um pouco mais para diante, prostrou-se sobre o seu rosto, orando e dizendo: Meu Pae, se é possivel, passe de mim este calix; porém, não como eu quero, mas como tu queres.
Going forward a short distance He fell on His face and prayed. "My Father," He said, "if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou willest."
40 E voltou para os seus discipulos, e achou-os adormecidos; e disse a Pedro: Então nem uma hora podeste velar comigo?
Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and He said to Peter, "Alas, none of you could keep awake with me for even a single hour!
41 Vigiae e orae, para que não entreis em tentação: na verdade, o espirito está prompto, mas a carne é fraca.
Keep awake, and pray that you may not enter into temptation: the spirit is right willing, but the body is frail."
42 E, indo segunda vez, orou, dizendo: Meu Pae, se este calix não pode passar de mim sem eu o beber, faça-se a tua vontade.
Again a second time He went away and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is impossible for this cup to pass without my drinking it, Thy will be done."
43 E, voltando, achou-os outra vez adormecidos; porque os seus olhos estavam carregados.
He came and again found them asleep, for they were very tired.
44 E, deixando-os, voltou, e orou terceira vez, dizendo as mesmas palavras.
So He left them, and went away once more and prayed a third time, again using the same words.
45 Então chegou junto dos seus discipulos, e disse-lhes: Dormi agora, e repousae; eis que é chegada a hora, e o Filho do homem será entregue nas mãos dos peccadores.
Then He came to the disciples and said, "Sleep on and rest. See, the moment is close at hand when the Son of Man is to be betrayed into the hands of sinful men.
46 Levantae-vos, partamos; eis que é chegado o que me trahe.
Rouse yourselves. Let us be going. My betrayer is close at hand."
47 E, estando elle ainda a fallar, eis que chegou Judas, um dos doze, e com elle uma grande multidão com espadas e varapaus, enviada pelos principes dos sacerdotes e pelos anciãos do povo.
He had scarcely finished speaking when Judas came--one of the Twelve--accompanied by a great crowd of men armed with swords and bludgeons, sent by the High Priests and Elders of the People.
48 E o que o trahia tinha-lhes dado signal, dizendo: O que eu beijar é elle; prendei-o.
Now the betrayer had agreed upon a sign with them, to direct them. He had said, "The one whom I kiss is the man: lay hold of him."
49 E logo, approximando-se de Jesus, disse: Eu te saudo Rabbi. E beijou-o.
So he went straight to Jesus and said, "Peace to you, Rabbi!" And he kissed Him eagerly.
50 Jesus, porém, lhe disse: Amigo, a que vieste? Então, approximando-se, lançaram mão de Jesus, e prenderam-n'o.
"Friend," said Jesus, "carry out your intention." Then they came and laid their hands on Jesus and seized Him firmly.
51 E eis que um dos que estavam com Jesus, estendendo a mão, puxou da espada e, ferindo o servo do summo sacerdote, cortou-lhe uma orelha.
But one of those with Jesus drew his sword and struck the High Priest's servant, cutting off his ear.
52 Então Jesus disse-lhe: Mette no seu logar a tua espada; porque todos os que lançarem mão da espada á espada morrerão.
"Put back your sword again," said Jesus, "for all who draw the sword shall perish by the sword.
53 Ou pensas tu que não poderia eu agora orar a meu Pae, e elle não me daria mais de doze legiões d'anjos?
Or do you suppose I cannot entreat my Father and He would instantly send to my help more than twelve legions of angels?
54 Como pois se cumpririam as Escripturas, que dizem que assim convem que aconteça?
In that case how are the Scriptures to be fulfilled which declare that thus it must be?"
55 Então disse Jesus á multidão: Saistes, como a um salteador, com espadas e varapaus para me prender? todos os dias me assentava junto de vós, ensinando no templo, e não me prendestes.
Then said Jesus to the crowds, "Have you come out as if to fight with a robber, with swords and bludgeons to apprehend me? Day after day I have been sitting teaching in the Temple, and you did not arrest me.
56 Mas tudo isto aconteceu para que se cumpram as escripturas dos prophetas. Então todos os discipulos, deixando-o, fugiram.
But all this has taken place in order that the writings of the Prophets may be fulfilled." At this point the disciples all left Him and fled.
57 E, os que prenderam a Jesus, o conduziram ao summo sacerdote, Caiphás, onde os escribas e os anciãos estavam reunidos.
But the officers who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the High Priest, at whose house the Scribes and the Elders had assembled.
58 E Pedro o seguiu de longe até ao pateo do summo sacerdote: e, entrando dentro, assentou-se entre os creados, para vêr o fim.
And Peter kept following Him at a distance, till he came even to the court of the High Priest's palace, where he entered and sat down among the officers to see the issue.
59 E os principes dos sacerdotes, e os anciãos, e todo o conselho, buscavam falso testemunho contra Jesus, para o poderem matar,
Meanwhile the High Priests and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking false testimony against Jesus in order to put Him to death;
60 Mas não o achavam, apezar de se apresentarem muitas testemunhas falsas; mas por fim chegaram duas falsas testemunhas,
but they could find none, although many false witnesses came forward. At length there came two
61 E disseram: Este disse: Eu posso derribar o templo de Deus, e reedifical-o em tres dias.
who testified, "This man said, 'I am able to pull down the Sanctuary of God and three days afterwards to build a new one.'"
62 E, levantando-se o summo sacerdote, disse-lhe: Não respondes coisa alguma ao que estes depõem contra ti?
Then the High Priest stood up and asked Him, "Have you no answer to make? What is it these men are saying in evidence against you?"
63 Jesus, porém, guardava silencio. E, insistindo o summo sacerdote, disse-lhe: Conjuro-te pelo Deus vivo que nos digas se tu és o Christo, o Filho de Deus.
Jesus however remained silent. Again the High Priest addressed Him. "In the name of the ever-living God," he said, "I now put you on your oath. Tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God."
64 Disse-lhe Jesus: Tu o disseste; digo-vos, porém, que vereis em breve o Filho do homem assentado á direita da magestade divina, e vindo sobre as nuvens do céu.
"I am He," replied Jesus. "But I tell you that, later on, you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Omnipotence, and coming on the clouds of the sky."
65 Então o summo sacerdote rasgou os seus vestidos, dizendo: Blasphemou; para que precisamos ainda de testemunhas? Eis que bem ouvistes agora a sua blasphemia.
Then the High Priest tore his robes and exclaimed, "Impious language! What further need have we of witnesses! See, you have now heard the impiety.
66 Que vos parece? E elles, respondendo, disseram: E réu de morte.
What is your verdict?" "He deserves to die," they replied.
67 Então cuspiram-lhe no rosto; e uns lhe davam punhadas, e outros o esbofeteavam,
Then they spat in His face, and struck Him--some with the fist, some with the open hand--
68 Dizendo: Prophetiza-nos, Christo, quem é o que te bateu?
while they taunted Him, saying, "Christ, prove yourself a Prophet by telling us who it was that struck you."
69 E Pedro estava assentado fóra, no pateo, e approximou-se d'elle uma creada, dizendo: Tu tambem estavas com Jesus, o galileo.
Peter meanwhile was sitting outside in the court of the palace, when one of the maidservants came over to him and said, "You too were with Jesus the Galilaean."
70 Mas elle negou diante de todos, dizendo: Não sei o que dizes.
He denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you mean."
71 E, saindo para o vestibulo, viu-o outra, e disse aos que ali estavam: Este tambem estava com Jesus, o nazareno.
Soon afterwards he went out and stood in the gateway, when another girl saw him, and said, addressing the people there, "This man was with Jesus the Nazarene."
72 E elle negou outra vez com juramento, dizendo: Não conheço tal homem.
Again he denied it with an oath. "I do not know the man," he said.
73 E, d'ahi a pouco, approximando-se os que ali estavam, disseram a Pedro: Verdadeiramente tambem tu és um d'elles, pois a tua falla te denuncia.
A short time afterwards the people standing there came and said to Peter, "Certainly you too are one of them, for your brogue shows it."
74 Então começou elle a imprecar e a jurar, dizendo: Não conheço esse homem. E immediatamente o gallo cantou.
Then with curses and oaths he declared, "I do not know the man." Immediately a cock crowed,
75 E lembrou-se Pedro das palavras de Jesus, que lhe dissera: Antes que o gallo cante, tres vezes me negarás. E, saindo d'ali, chorou amargamente.
and Peter recollected the words of Jesus, how He had said, "Before the cock crows you will three times disown me." And he went out and wept aloud, bitterly.
