Mateus 22
1 Então Jesus, tomando a palavra, tornou a fallar-lhes em parabolas, dizendo:
And Jesus answering, again spoke to them in allegories, saying,
2 O reino dos céus é similhante a um certo rei que celebrou as bodas de seu filho;
“The kingdom of the heavens was likened to a man, a king, who made wedding feasts for his son,
3 E enviou os seus servos a chamar os convidados para as bodas; e não quizeram vir.
and he sent forth his servants to call those having been called to the wedding feasts, and they were not willing to come.
4 Depois enviou outros servos, dizendo: Dizei aos convidados: Eisque tenho o meu jantar preparado, os meus bois e cevados já mortos, e tudo já prompto: vinde ás bodas.
Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Say to those who have been called: Behold, I prepared my early meal, my oxen and the fatlings have been killed, and all things [are] ready, come to the wedding feasts;
5 Porém elles, não fazendo caso, foram, um para o seu campo, outro para o seu trafico:
and they, having disregarded [it], went away, one to his own field, and the other to his merchandise;
6 E os outros, apoderando-se dos servos, os ultrajaram e mataram.
and the rest, having laid hold on his servants, mistreated and slew [them].
7 E o rei, tendo noticia d'isto, encolerisou-se: e, enviando os seus exercitos, destruiu aquelles homicidas, e incendiou a sua cidade.
And the king having heard, was angry, and having sent forth his soldiers, he destroyed those murderers, and their city he set on fire;
8 Então diz aos servos: As bodas, na verdade, estão preparadas, mas os convidados não eram dignos.
then he says to his servants, The wedding feast indeed is ready, and those called were not worthy,
9 Ide pois ás saidas dos caminhos, e convidae para as bodas a todos os que encontrardes.
be going, then, on to the cross-ways, and as many as you may find, call to the wedding feasts.
10 E os servos, saindo pelos caminhos, ajuntaram todos quantos encontraram, tanto maus como bons; e as bodas encheram-se de convidados.
And those servants, having gone forth to the ways, gathered all, as many as they found, both bad and good, and the wedding was filled with those reclining.
11 E o rei, entrando para vêr os convidados, viu ali um homem que não estava trajado com vestido de bodas,
And the king having come in to view those reclining, saw there a man not clothed with wedding clothes,
12 E disse-lhe: Amigo, como entraste aqui, não tendo vestido de bodas? E elle emmudeceu.
and he says to him, Friend, how did you come in here, not having wedding clothes? And he was speechless.
13 Disse então o rei aos servos: Amarrae-o de pés e mãos, levae-o, e lançae-o nas trevas exteriores: ali haverá pranto e ranger de dentes.
Then the king said to the servants, Having bound his feet and hands, take him up and cast forth into the outer darkness, there will be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth;
14 Porque muitos são chamados, mas poucos escolhidos.
for many are called, and few chosen.”
15 Então, retirando-se os phariseos, consultaram entre si como o surprehenderiam n'alguma palavra;
Then the Pharisees having gone, took counsel how they might ensnare Him in words,
16 E enviaram-lhe os seus discipulos, com os herodianos, dizendo: Mestre, bem sabemos que és verdadeiro, e ensinas o caminho de Deus, segundo a verdade, e de ninguem se te dá, porque não olhas á apparencia dos homens;
and they send to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we have known that You are true, and the way of God in truth You teach, and You are not caring for anyone, for You do not look to the face of men;
17 Dize-nos, pois, que te parece? É licito pagar o tributo a Cesar, ou não?
tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?”
18 Jesus, porém, conhecendo a sua malicia, disse: Porque me experimentaes, hypocritas?
And Jesus having known their wickedness, said, “Why do you tempt Me, hypocrites?
19 Mostrae-me a moeda do tributo. E elles lhe apresentaram um dinheiro.
Show Me the tribute-coin.” And they brought to Him a denarius;
20 E elle diz-lhes: De quem é esta effigie e esta inscripção?
and He says to them, “Whose [is] this image and the inscription?”
21 Dizem-lhe elles: De Cesar. Então elle lhes diz: Dae pois a Cesar o que é de Cesar, e a Deus o que é de Deus.
They say to Him, “Caesar’s”; then He says to them, “Render therefore the things of Caesar to Caesar, and the things of God to God”;
22 E elles, ouvindo isto, maravilharam-se, e, deixando-o, se retiraram.
and having heard they wondered, and having left Him they went away.
23 No mesmo dia chegaram junto d'elle os sadduceos, que dizem não haver resurreição, e o interrogaram,
In that day there came near to Him Sadducees who are saying there is not a resurrection, and they questioned Him, saying,
24 Dizendo: Mestre, Moysés disse: Se morrer alguem, não tendo filhos, casará o seu irmão com a mulher d'elle, e suscitará descendencia a seu irmão:
“Teacher, Moses said if anyone may die having no children, his brother will marry his wife, and will raise up seed to his brother.
25 Ora houve entre nós sete irmãos; e o primeiro, tendo casado, morreu, e, não tendo descendencia, deixou sua mulher a seu irmão.
And there were with us seven brothers, and the first having married died, and having no seed, he left his wife to his brother;
26 Da mesma sorte o segundo, e o terceiro, até ao setimo;
in like manner also the second, and the third, to the seventh,
27 Por fim, depois de todos, morreu tambem a mulher.
and last of all the woman also died;
28 Portanto, na resurreição, de qual dos sete será a mulher, visto que todos a possuiram?
therefore in the resurrection, of which of the seven will she be wife—for all had her?”
29 Jesus, porém, respondendo, disse-lhes: Erraes, não conhecendo as Escripturas, nem o poder de Deus;
And Jesus answering said to them, “You go astray, not knowing the Writings, nor the power of God;
30 Porque na resurreição nem casam nem se dão em casamento; mas serão como os anjos de Deus no céu
for in the resurrection they do not marry, nor are they given in marriage, but are as messengers of God in Heaven.
31 E, ácerca da resurreição dos mortos, não tendes lido o que Deus vos declarou, dizendo:
And concerning the resurrection of the dead, did you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
32 Eu sou o Deus d'Abrahão, o Deus d'Isaac, e o Deus de Jacob? Deus não é Deus dos mortos, mas dos vivos.
I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not a God of dead men, but of living.”
33 E, as turbas, ouvindo isto, ficaram maravilhadas da sua doutrina.
And having heard, the multitudes were astonished at His teaching;
34 E os phariseos, ouvindo que fizera emmudecer os sadduceos, reuniram-se no mesmo logar;
and the Pharisees, having heard that He silenced the Sadducees, were gathered together to Him;
35 E um d'elles, doutor da lei, interrogou-o para o experimentar, dizendo:
and one of them, a lawyer, questioned, tempting Him, and saying,
36 Mestre, qual é o grande mandamento na lei?
“Teacher, which [is] the great command in the Law?”
37 E Jesus disse-lhe: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo o teu coração, e de toda a tua alma, e de todo o teu pensamento.
And Jesus said to him, “You will love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your understanding—
38 Este é o primeiro e grande mandamento.
this is a first and great command;
39 E o segundo, similhante a este, é: Amarás o teu proximo como a ti mesmo.
and the second [is] like to it: You will love your neighbor as yourself;
40 D'estes dois mandamentos depende toda a lei e os prophetas.
on these—the two commands—all the Law and the Prophets hang.”
41 E, estando reunidos os phariseos, interrogou-os Jesus,
And the Pharisees having been gathered together, Jesus questioned them,
42 Dizendo: Que pensaes vós do Christo? De quem é filho? Elles disseram-lhe: De David.
saying, “What do you think concerning the Christ? Of whom is He Son?” They say to Him, “Of David.”
43 Disse-lhes elle: Como é então que David, em espirito, lhe chama Senhor, dizendo:
He says to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him Lord, saying,
44 Disse o Senhor ao meu Senhor: Assenta-te á minha direita, até que eu ponha os teus inimigos por escabello de teus pés.
The LORD said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, Until I may make Your enemies Your footstool?
45 Se David pois lhe chama Senhor, como é seu filho?
If then David calls Him Lord, how is He his son?”
46 E ninguem podia responder-lhe uma palavra: nem desde aquelle dia ousou mais alguem interrogal-o.
And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor did any dare question Him from that day [on].
