Mateus 16
1 E, chegando-se os phariseos e os sadduceos, e tentando-o, pediram-lhe que lhes mostrasse algum signal do céu.
And the Pharisees and Sadducees came to tempt him, and asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
2 Mas elle, respondendo, disse-lhes: Quando é chegada a tarde, dizeis: Haverá bom tempo, porque o céu está rubro.
But he answered and said to them: When it is evening, you say, Fair weather; for the sky is red.
3 E pela manhã: Hoje haverá tempestade, porque o céu está de um vermelho sombrio. Hypocritas, sabeis differençar a face do céu, e não sabeis differençar os signaes dos tempos?
And in the morning, A storm to-day; for the sky is red and lowering. Hypocrites! you know how to judge of the face of the sky; but you can not judge of the signs of the times.
4 Uma geração má e adultera pede um signal, e nenhum signal lhe será dado, senão o signal do propheta Jonas. E, deixando-os, retirou-se.
A wicked and adulterous generation seeks for a sign: and no sign shall be given it but the sign of Jonah the prophet. And he left them and departed.
5 E, passando seus discipulos para a outra banda, tinham-se esquecido de fornecer-se de pão.
And his disciples came to the other side, and had forgotten to take bread.
6 E Jesus disse-lhes: Adverti, e acautelae-vos do fermento dos phariseos e sadduceos.
And Jesus said to them: Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
7 E elles arrazoavam entre si, dizendo: É porque não nos fornecemos de pão.
And they reasoned among themselves, saying: It is because we took no bread.
8 E Jesus, conhecendo-o, disse: Porque arrazoaes entre vós, homens de pouca fé, sobre o não vos terdes fornecido de pão?
And Jesus perceiving it, said to them: O you of little faith! why are you reasoning among yourselves because you took no bread?
9 Não comprehendeis ainda, nem vos lembraes dos cinco pães para cinco mil homens, e de quantas alcofas levantastes?
Do you not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
10 Nem dos sete pães para quatro mil, e de quantos cestos levantastes?
Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
11 Como não entendestes que não vos fallei a respeito do pão, mas que vos guardasseis do fermento dos phariseos e sadduceos?
How is it that you do not understand, that I did not speak of bread when I commanded you to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
12 Então comprehenderam que não dissera que se guardassem do fermento do pão, mas da doutrina dos phariseos.
Then they understood that he did not bid them beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
13 E, chegando Jesus ás partes de Cesarea de Philippo, interrogou os seus discipulos, dizendo: Quem dizem os homens ser o Filho do homem?
When Jesus came into the regions of Cæsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying: Who do men say that I, the Son of man, am?
14 E elles disseram: Uns João Baptista, outros Elias, e outros Jeremias ou um dos prophetas.
They replied: Some say that thou art John the Immerser; others, Elijah; others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
15 Disse-lhes elle: E vós, quem dizeis que eu sou?
He said to them: But who say you that I am?
16 E Simão Pedro, respondendo, disse: Tu és o Christo, o Filho de Deus vivo.
Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 E Jesus, respondendo, disse-lhe: Bemaventurado és tu, Simão Barjonas, porque t'o não revelou a carne e o sangue, mas meu Pae, que está nos céus.
And Jesus answered and said to him: Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah; for flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
18 E tambem eu te digo que tu és Pedro, e sobre esta pedra edificarei a minha egreja, e as portas do inferno não prevalecerão contra ella: (Hadēs g86)
And I say to you, That you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church: and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)
19 E eu te darei as chaves do reino dos céus; e tudo o que ligares na terra será ligado nos céus, e tudo o que desligares na terra será desligado nos céus.
And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you shall loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Então mandou aos seus discipulos que a ninguem dissessem que elle era Jesus o Christo.
Then he charged his disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.
21 Desde então começou Jesus a mostrar aos seus discipulos que convinha ir a Jerusalem, e padecer muito dos anciãos, e dos principaes dos sacerdotes, e dos escribas, e ser morto, e resuscitar ao terceiro dia.
From that time Jesus began to tell his disciples plainly, that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders, and the chief priests, and the scribes, and be put to death, and be raised again the third day.
22 E Pedro, tomando-o de parte, começou a reprehendel-o, dizendo: Senhor, tem compaixão de ti; de modo nenhum te aconteça isso.
And Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying: Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be to thee.
23 Elle, porém, voltando-se, disse a Pedro: Arreda-te de diante de mim, Satanaz, que me serves de escandalo; porque não comprehendes as coisas que são de Deus, mas só as que são dos homens.
But he turned and said to Peter: Get behind me, adversary; you are a snare to me: for you are not thinking of the things of God; but of the things of men.
24 Então disse Jesus aos seus discipulos: Se alguem quizer vir após mim, renuncie-se a si mesmo, tome sobre si a sua cruz, e siga-me;
Then Jesus said to his disciples: If any one determines to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 Porque aquelle que quizer salvar a sua vida, perdel-a-ha, e quem perder a sua vida por amor de mim, achal-a-ha.
For whoever will save his life, shall lose it. But whoever will lose his life for my sake, shall find it.
26 Pois que aproveita ao homem, se ganhar o mundo inteiro, e perder a sua alma? ou que dará o homem em recompensa da sua alma?
For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, but lose his own life? Or, what will a man give as the ransom of his life?
27 Porque o Filho do homem virá na gloria de seu Pae, com os seus anjos; e então dará a cada um segundo as suas obras.
For the Son of man will come in the glory of his Father, with his angels; and then he will reward every one according to his deeds.
28 Em verdade vos digo que alguns ha, dos que aqui estão, que não gostarão a morte até que vejam vir o Filho do homem no seu reino.
Verily I say to you, There are some standing here that shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
