Malaquias 1

1 Carga da palavra do Senhor contra Israel, pelo ministerio de Malachias.

The burden of a word of Jehovah unto Israel by the hand of Malachi:

2 Eu vos amei, diz o Senhor; mas vós dizeis: Em que nos amastes? Não foi Esaú irmão de Jacob? disse o Senhor; todavia amei a Jacob,

I have loved you, said Jehovah, And ye have said, 'In what hast Thou loved us?'

3 E aborreci a Esaú: e fiz dos seus montes uma assolação, e dei a sua herança aos dragões do deserto.

Is not Esau Jacob's brother? — an affirmation of Jehovah, And I love Jacob, and Esau I have hated, And I make his mountains a desolation, And his inheritance for dragons of a wilderness.

4 Ainda que Edom dizia: Empobrecidos somos, porém tornaremos a edificar os logares desertos: elles edificarão, e eu destruirei: e lhes chamarão; Termo de impiedade, e povo contra quem o Senhor está irado para sempre.

Because Edom saith, 'We have been made poor, And we turn back and we build the wastes,' Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: They do build, and I do destroy, And [men] have called to them, 'O region of wickedness,' 'O people whom Jehovah defied to the age.'

5 E os vossos olhos o verão, e direis: O Senhor seja engrandecido desde o termo de Israel.

And your eyes do see, and ye say, 'Magnified is Jehovah beyond the border of Israel,

6 O filho honrará a seu pae, e o servo ao seu senhor; e, se eu sou Pae, onde está a minha honra? e, se eu sou o Senhor, onde está o meu temor? diz o Senhor dos Exercitos a vós, ó sacerdotes, que desprezaes o meu nome; mas vós dizeis: Em que desprezámos nós o teu nome?

A son honoureth a father, and a servant his master. And if I [am] a father, where [is] Mine honour? And if I [am] a master, where [is] My fear? Said Jehovah of Hosts to you, O priests, despising My name! And ye have said: 'In what have we despised Thy name?'

7 Offereceis sobre o meu altar pão immundo, e dizeis: Em que te havemos profanado? N'isto que dizeis: A mesa do Senhor é desprezivel.

Ye are bringing nigh on Mine altar polluted bread, And ye have said: 'In what have we polluted Thee?' In your saying: 'The table of Jehovah — it [is] despicable,'

8 Porque, quando trazeis animal cego para o sacrificardes, não é isto mau? e, quando offereceis o côxo ou o enfermo, não é isto mau? Ora apresenta-o ao teu principe; porventura terá elle agrado em ti? ou acceitará elle a tua pessoa? diz o Senhor dos Exercitos.

And when ye bring nigh the blind for sacrifice, 'There is no evil,' And when ye bring nigh the lame and sick, 'There is no evil;' Bring it near, I pray thee, to thy governor — Doth he accept thee? or doth he lift up thy face? Said Jehovah of Hosts.

9 Agora, pois, supplicae a face de Deus, e elle terá piedade de nós: isto veiu da vossa mão, acceitará elle a vossa pessoa? diz o Senhor dos Exercitos.

And now, appease, I pray thee, the face of God, And He doth favour us; From your own hand hath this been, Doth He accept of you appearances? Said Jehovah of Hosts.

10 Quem ha tambem entre vós que feche as portas por nada? e não accendeis por nada o fogo do meu altar. Eu não tomo prazer em vós, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, nem acceitarei da vossa mão a oblação.

Who [is] even among you, And he shutteth the two-leaved doors? Yea, ye do not kindle Mine altar for nought, I have no pleasure in you, said Jehovah of Hosts, And a present I do not accept of your hand.

11 Mas desde o nascente do sol até ao poente será grande entre as nações o meu nome; e em todo o logar se offerecerá ao meu nome incenso e uma oblação pura; porque o meu nome será grande entre as nações, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos

For, from the rising of the sun to its going in, Great [is] My name among nations, And in every place perfume is brought nigh to My name, and a pure present, For great [is] My name among nations, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

12 Mas vós o profanaes, quando dizeis: A mesa do Senhor é immunda, e, quanto ao seu rendimento, sua comida é desprezivel.

And ye are polluting it in your saying, 'The table of Jehovah — it is polluted, As to its fruit — despicable is its food.'

13 E dizeis: Eis aqui, que canceira! e o lançastes com desprezo, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos: vós tambem offereceis o roubado, e o côxo e o enfermo, e offereceis a offerta: ser-me-ha acceito isto de vossa mão? diz o Senhor.

And ye have said, 'Lo, what a weariness,' And ye have puffed at it, said Jehovah of Hosts, And ye have brought in plunder, And the lame and the sick, And ye have brought in the present! Do I accept it from your hand? said Jehovah.

14 Pois maldito seja o enganoso que, tendo no seu rebanho um animal, promette e offerece ao Senhor o que é corrompido, porque eu sou grande Rei, diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, o meu nome será tremendo entre as nações.

And cursed [is] a deceiver, who hath in his drove a male, And is vowing, and is sacrificing a marred thing to the Lord, For a great king [am] I, said Jehovah of Hosts, And My name [is] revered among nations!
